Somebody at Myspace or the big corporate world, which I sometimes peer into (like stout cortez) has gone ahead and deleted songs off this page. I guess they need to shake things up again to try to put some dollars in some pockets.
So for the time being, the music on this page is NOT representative of what I'm doing...
Which is: my new album, which has just been completed -- Dust Clouds May Exist. More on that soon, jah.

Wow I've been so busy doing things for months and months that I haven't really stopped to think, or to tell my friends, and some of them probably think I dropped off the face of the earth. 2007 was mostly spent sitting in a van. For the first time in my life I spent almost all of my time not playing the music I've written, but helping other people with their thing. This has been a really different (and I guess enlightening) experience, learning how to inhabit a totally different kind of musical space. I drove the USA and Canada five times, first with the Howling Hex, then with Love As Laughter, and then several times with Dax Riggs. I played for 5 people and 5000 people. I made horrible mistakes (like live at Lollapalooza in Chicago with Dax, when I started a song with a long keyboard intro transposed to the wrong key, and was forced to stop the song two thirds of the way through it, because I knew that the ending would be a total disaster if I didn't. That was actually kind of fun). I recorded new albums with the Hex and Love As Laughter and Baby Dee and Talibam! and Lia Ices, and I recorded and manufactured really little editions of three new CD-R series discs. All of this has kept me so busy that I and Ear Records has mostly been working on smaller projects, like new limited edition vinyl pressings of Extra Life and Chris Brokaw.
Recently I've been learning to play this amazing harpsichord that now lives in my apartment. This is a whole lifetime's worth of indulgence, but worthy of even the few minutes everyday that I have to work at it. More on that later, because it's a whole other tangent, but I am sure it will turn up in some new recordings. It really brings together all of these different things I've been thinking about the genealogy of cultural preference and artistic style with scientific and mathematical limitation and development. How's that for vague? I'll try to explain myself soon.
[Next Day Edit: huh?]

My new record, "Sleep, Memory" is done. I just got promos in the mail. It's not out until March 21 but I'm gonna get some tracks up here sometime soon. If you must have a real promo, send me a message. ciao.

(2008 edit - Isn't it strange how much blog culture has changed in the past several years? This post looks totally awkward now, but I'm preserving it, for posterity.)

Fourth night of tour with Mary Halvorson and Jessica Pavone. Or is it Jessica Pavone and Mary Halvorson? We're in Buffalo, played last night at Soundlab. Good show. Josephine Foster played too. I sang some songs, made some looped thingamathings. Mary and Jess are wearing aprons. We're staying at Jess' friends' house, Dave and Christina. Listening to Dennis Bovell and Trevor Dunn's Trio-Convulsant to annoy Mary (Dunn, not Bovell). Tomorrow off to Ann Arbor.
