"Bob Lowrey...what can I say? Music? Very experimental tracks. It's everything I would ever imagine an alien spacecraft having in its audio files. Too far advanced for our simple minds to fathom. Soundtrack to a acid trip."..:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I usually keep things positive on my page but I really want  someone to explain to me the appeal of this new genre that seems to have all the kids creaming their pants. Screamo/Metal. The Devil Wears Prada seems to be the band that is leading this whole new breed.  It seems like every other month there is a new band coming out saying they are a new hardcore band...then I listen and its this same crap. Im not really sure what to call it...its almost too disrespectful to call is screamo because there are some good screamo bands out there that dont deserve to be held to that standard...basically it just sounds like really shitty metal to me.  The typical band consists of a vocalist screaming like hes got his nuts in a vice, 4 guitarists (all playing rhythm...the same one), bass, a synth player (punching one key at a time and looking like hes having a seizure while doing it), and a drummer playing the same tired beats.  Im really not sure if its just the trend of trying to be "different" or if there really is some musical talent Im missing in there.

Even the genres that I personally dont usually care for I typically understand why people like them...this stuff I have no idea. Please someone give me their input.

Halloweenapalooza - Main Shelter House, Huntingburg Park - Oct. 27 - $1 or free if you dress up - 6PM!

WALT WHITMAN - they will be covering punk rock songs and I do not know which ones because they will not tell me...knowing these guys it will be fun.

VOIDS PEAK - new band from French Lick area. they will be playing some of their own punk songs as well as covering bands such as The Clash.

THIRD MAN DOWN - They will be covering punk rock songs as well. They will also be playing songs of their former band Random Hero.

This is not your normal show...its an extravaganza haha this is something to do on halloween weekend for once! I know there is a show in Loogootee the night before which you should all go to! That is an actual show. Anchors For Arms from new jersey and lobster records are playing and that should be fun because they are awesome you can check out a review in one of my other blog posts or go to myspace.com/anchorsforarms. SUPPORT TWINKY PRODUCTIONS myspace.com/twinkyproductions

Rules...Im not big on rules but these are park rules and I do not feel like paying fines. so if you dont follow them you will be asked to leave. Also since this is in town and its a large grouping of people police will probably be present at some point...so the main point of all this is just dont be stupid I dont want anyone going to jail or ruining this for everyone.

1. Do not litter, this is illegal. dont do it.

2. No alcohol and you cant be drunk.  Now if no one can tell you are drunk or that you have been drinking we wont have a problem so if you want to drink...just dont let it be known or else you will be asked to leave. I like to drink at shows too but again this is city property...so be smart.

3. No loud obscene language...this is a park ...if there are children present dont use foul language...if there are no families present Im not really to concerned with it. but if there are you will be warned or asked to leave depending on the circumstance.

4. Enforced speed of 10mph in the park

5. Vehicles stay off the grass

6. All animals must be on leashes and their shit must be picked up by the owner.

NO VANDALIZM. or I will personally kick your ass.

remember we do not have many venues left...due to a lot of these rules being broken at other places...please dont ruin this new one.  Im not usually one for rules but please just be respectful and we wont have any problems. My security team will be there like they are at all my shows.

the most important rule...

HAVE FUN!

Ive decided Im going to do my best to make this happen.
Its going to be in Jasper or Huntingburg
October 27

Its going to be all local bands dedicating most of their set to Punk Rock/Rocknroll  covers in the spirit of halloween

Its going to be $1 or free if you dress up I will gladly accept doantions though because what isnt paid for by the door is coming out of my own pocket.

It will be a lot of fun. If anyone wants to run sound for free or has a good idea for a venue let me know. I have a few ideas for both but any help would be appreciated.

If any bands want to play get at me but you are not getting paid most likely and the majority of your set has to be cover songs (its a halloween tradition for real halloween shows) Also it has to be punk rock...no screamo/metal crap.

I realize there is a show the night before in loogootee but this wont interfere with that because this is free and its not a real show its mostly cover songs and one big party...something fun to do for halloween this year! yay!

Review of Auditory Response

Auditory Response is two bands in one. One of them is a single guy and a guitar which in my opinion is the better of the two. The other is a full band, acoustic, bass, drums and duel vocals. The music is simple but yet catchy with definate influences from Dashboard Confessional and other soft rock/acoustic acts. "Circumlocuter" will melt the pants off of overemotional young ladies and leave you thinking awwww. "Streetlights" representing the more soft rock aspect of this band will get your toe tapping and singing along. Auditory Response has great potential and Im looking forward to hearing some new recordings.

Review of Anchors For Arms - Listen.React

Listen.React is fast...heavy...and pop punk? Yes Anchors for Arms has created an album that can appeal to people who like all different sorts
of music whether it be a radio blend or a heavier underground sound. Particularly the track "C'mon Lets Go Break Their Arms". This first album from these boys off of Lobster Records has been highly anticipated. After witnessing an intense live show I for one expect Anchors For Arms will be a name that you will be hearing more of. Buy the album.

Review of Ferris The Destroyer!!

Ferris The Destroyer!! is a band that you might possibly be hearing a lot about in the near future. Ferris The Destroyer!! has managed to take a bunch of noise and turn it into really good music. Highly original indie/rock/experimental while at the same time pulling influences from some very talented bands. Listeners will hear influences from bands such as At The Drive in, Minus The Bear, and Ayin. It will be interesting to hear the entire album when it is released.

THE ARMED FORCES – "KINDA FAMOUS" (single track)

The Armed Forces self proclaimed feel good hit of the summer, "Kinda Famous", is just that.  Whether you are driving down the interstate with the top down screaming at the top of your lungs or sitting at your computer stalking your friends on myspace it is guaranteed to get your toe tapping and voice jumping.  The catchy beats combined with Brandon Jazz's vocals will likely leave you dancing on the hood of your car and wanting more.  The Armed Forces is the love child of Brandon Jazz formerly of the pop rock band Brooklyn UK, Bob Ferarri of The Pink Spiders, and Sam Shacklock. If you enjoy the members previous recordings in their respected bands then you are sure to enjoy this new dance pop flavor.

Shaylin

Shaylin brings an interesting blend of pop/emo/rock.  Its fairly original effects and acoustics make it a band worth checking out.  The vocals are different from most music I have heard and fit very well with the music while they probably wouldn't fit well with most bands. The only downfall might be the lyrics. At times they seem a bit shallow in meaning. The track "so long" is definately the song that could get stuck in your head for hours. Take a listen. Intentions To Break - "Untitled"

In a music scene cluttered by trendy metal-core and want to be rock and roll stars, Intentions to Break's new untitled album is, in the most cliche description, a breath of fresh air. They bring music back down to the basics and give it back the purity it deserves. The clean acoustics and catchy riffs by guitarist Kevin Buffington mixed with the beautiful and creative lyrics sung by the lovely voice of female vocalist, Danni McPherron, leave you in complete serenity.
