OK. Here's the deal. I've made some videos for 2 of my songs. They are posted right below. I wish for you to do the watching of the videos if you would like. I'm actually going to be re-doing them because I've sort of got the bug for it now and I know I can do them better. But anyway. The footage for Eva Novna is from the 1922 silent film Nosferatu which was a blatant rip off of Bram Stoker's Dracula. The footage for Clavianoum is just random stuff I found on You Tube. The footage of Animal is from his band's 1977 tour of Japan. This was just 2 years before his tragic death as a result of a bizarre gardening accident.

New songs: after a 2 year hiatus during which I recorded nothing, I have returned like a Jedi, busting out 3 news ones in 3 months. To me that is a fast pace. "A Canal with Locks" is the first song I've done that included no guitar whatsoever, but then "Shadow Wire" joined it. "Shadow Wire" isn't really a song but some "mood music." When I listen to it, I get a nice shoegazer glaze over my eyes so I hope you do too. I got a few complaints about not having guitar on "A Canal with Locks" and that was actually very flattering. So it inspired me to get back on the axe and try to come up with something. "Derby Winners" is the result. I realize it's a little choppy as far as structure is concerned but it was put together really quickly and I didn't really have the time to fix it the way I wanted to (because I'm back in school). In the future I may get around to doing that. For the time being it's just a turd that needs polishing but it's not a bad turd. Anyway, I just wanted to post a blog because it has been about a year or so since I posted one, with the exception of Charlie Whisnut. You should really give ol' Charlie a listen. You won't regret it.

Rock on

Current mood:  contemplative

People have been asking: who is this Charlie Whistlenut? Well, to be honest I don't really know. I'm 2 persons removed from the guy who actually made these calls. I have a friend named Chip (of Port Huron Statement - you should myspace them, they are good) who is friends with the guy who lends his voice to/as Charlie Whistnut. It is my understanding that this was just a fellow college student (at Appalachian State) who would come home drunk from bars and prank people. No, he doesn't talk like Charlie in real life; he just has the voice and inflection down from living in western NC all of his life. Not all of us in Western NC talk this mind you but we all know people who talk like this. Therefore, it is even funnier if you are a WNC local. So that's the story. Enjoy the calls. I'll post more later. There are about 6 or 7 total. Of course you may download them ... and you can download my songs too.
