As we all know, the economy has been sucking a big smelly egg in the past several weeks.    I had to cut back on my book purchases to make sure that I had funds to pay bills and take care of my household.  But, I recently bought a couple of books with the help of my friend's discount at Books a Million.  Here is a listing of what I was able to get.

I want to apologize right now to my myspace friends who check my blog to see what I have bought, or the latest book I have read.  I had not realized that it has been over a month since my lost blog.  So, for the next two days I will be blogging about some of the great sales, wonderful books, and awesome contests that are going on with various publishing houses.

First, here is the first recommendation of an author you may or may not know or haven't read yet.

Cindy Spencer Pape, writes for Ellora's Cave, Total e-Bound, and Cerridwen Press.  Here is one of her series that I picked up from EC, who BTW is running a huge blowout sale on their paperback books.

The series I will be discussing today is her Heroes of Stone series.

Gargoyle Damien St. Pierre has to find ans ancient artifact needed by his people.  When he meets earth witch Katie Calhoun, he can't keep his hands off her.  Because of the problems his people are having, Damien is afraid to attempt the conversion necessary to make her his mate.  But Katie is determined to help him in his quest and to become the gargoyle of his dreams.  Can her faith overcome his fear?  Will the magic of love succeed in the mating of stone and earth?

 

Please forgive me for getting these books out of order, but this is the first book of the series.  Katie is Twyla's former roommate and she works for the mayor as part of his paranormal team to protect and police the otherworldly citizens of his city.  This was a story of a woman who is ready for the right man to come along.  And, the man wasn't aware that he was searching for the right woman until he found her.
