MrMusic presents the BackToHouse Radioshow with the INTERNATIONAL DJ EXTRAORDINAIRE, MR. TERRENCE PARKER
Detroit has been credited as one of the Soul Music capitals of the world, spawning legendary artists like The Four Tops, Marvin Gaye and Diana Ross just to name a few. Within the past decade ....Detroit....'s Underground Music Movement has brought rise to new artists such as Derrick May, Juan Atkins, Carl Craig, Kevin Saunderson and a host of others. But unlike the aforesaid names, Terrence Parker has established himself as a producer, remixer and DJ of the classic sound of House Music, and is known as a pioneer of the Inspirational / Gospel House movement!
Terrence Parker has performed as a DJ in more than 150 cities throughout the world. Since 1988, he has released more than 100 recordings, and had top 20 hits with his songs "Love's Got Me High", "The Question" and albums like "Detroit After Dark" in the ..U.K..., The Netherlands, ..Germany.., and ....France..... As one of the headliners for the 2004 Detroit Movement Festival (May 2004), TP (along with his friend & Detroit legend DJ Mo Reese) performed a stunning Tagteam DJ set on 4 turntables with 2 live vocalists for a crowd of over 100,000 people. As part of the ..Detroit.. ..Historical.. ..Museum..'s History of Techno International Exhibit, TP's collective musical works and pioneering efforts have been recognized as a valuable contribution to ....Detroit....'s music history, as well as the International History Dance Music. This exhibit is currently touring museums throughout the ....United States.....
TP's incredible DJing talents can be heard regularly on Detroit FM Radio's CHANNEL 955 "The Pulse" (....Detroit....'s No 1 Pop Radio Station). Furthermore, TP produces several DJ mix shows (including The Inspirational House Mix Show), which can be heard on FM, Internet, and Satellite/Digital Radio stations in the UK, BRAZIL, SWITZERLAND, GREECE, GERMANY, FRANCE, TURKEY, NORWAY, and JAPAN.
Terrences most recent remix projects are currently topping charts and driving dancefloors all over the world. Some of his most recent remix projects include such popular artists as Kelly Rowland, Vickie Winans, Michelle Williams, Trinitee 5:7, Upper Street (of MTV Europe's "Totally Boyband" Show), The Anointed Pace Sisters, Afro-beat legend Tony Allen, Chris Brown, Kanye West, Christina Aguilera, Shaun Escoffery , Ce Ce Winans, Dr. Charles Hayes & The Cosmopolitan Church Of Prayer Choir, Genuwine, Omarion, and Amerie. Furthermore, TP has also been busy working on his own projects with artists ..Coco Street.. and Darnell Kendricks. These artists and more are featured on TPs new Inspirational House Music label called TPMT Music, established with long time friend and fellow DJ Maurice Turner (aka DJ Mo Reese).
Terrence Parker is definitely still in the game, and better than ever. Some people call TP the "Telephone Man" because he uses an actual telephone as headphones. We call him the "Telephone Man" because he has answered the CALL to bring us music to feed our souls!

MrMusics BackToHouse meets SOLE CHANNELs Alix Alvarez
They say curiosity killed the cat, but for this cat curiosity only made him stronger as he was driven to search for new sounds in early hip hop and beyond harvesting each sound into his unique production style of today. “Im layin’ the foundation down” declares Alix Alvarez as he raps about past present and future. Born and raised in The Bronx, NYC this humble cat has been making waves in the music game for quite sometime. Nourished on vinyl selections of disco, soul and salsa by his parents in his formative years, Alix was conditioned to be a musical mastermind at an early age. Heavily influenced and motivated by an older sister & cousin when he was 12, Alix began his musical journey on the turntables mixing records by house music fame Todd Terry’s “Bango” to picking up wax by Big Daddy Kane and DJ Premier. The next logical steps for Alix were to get formally educated in music. Already having an interest in production Alix began studying at the ..Institute.. of ..Audio Research.. in ....Manhattan.... to be trained as an audio engineer where he graduated as one of the top students in his class. In July of 1999, Alix was given the opportunity that lead him to be an assistant sound engineer at MAW studios - “Little” Louie Vega and Kenny “Dope” Gonzales' (Masters at Work) studios in NYC. Like a kid in a candy store Alix literally slept in the studio making beats on the down low, gaining as much knowledge in this musical discourse as possible. It was his experience and training at the MAW studios that helped him to develop his engineering skills as he was beginning to produce and write his own deep house gems. Over the next few years Alix found himself as an integral part of the ....New York.... house music scene bumping heads with receptive players in the industry, such as Sandy Rivera (K.O.T) & Osunlade who served as mentors to him. While working at MAW studios Alix met now co owner and partner in Sole Channel records, Mr. V, a lower east side local who also worked for the label portion of MAW. The two quickly started hustling their sounds together about town. For the next 2 years Alix and Mr. V jointly held a monthly party calling it “Sole Channel” throwing down soulful, funky, house rhythms into the early morning bringing back the nostalgic vibe of the old school underground house parties in NYC. The collaboration between Mr.V and Alix was a no-brainer with their complimentary styles in both music and on life philosophy. Already having a fresh name, the artwork to brand themselves and connections to music heads world-wide, in 2004 Alix and Mr. V launched their now internationally recognized record label, Sole Channel Music. Since the label was incorporated, Sole Channel releases have been flying out and landing all over the world placing these two in the top tier of future house music creators. 2001 marked Alix's first release entitled "The Nu Breed E.P." on Essence Records UK and since then he has been releasing original tracks and remixes like a mad man! Mr. Alvarez has been sought out and internationally recognized for his remix projects on UK Soul songstress & grammy winner Amy Winehouse's "Tears Dry On Their Own" as well as remixing an impressive array of talent that include James Ingram, Sean Escoffrey, Miguel Migs, Lady Alma, Tortured Soul and more recently Universal Music’s soul songstress, Jully Black. Worldwide success has prevailed for Alix from his production of the world wide smash and highly acclaimed “Da Bump”, in collaboration with Mr. V and Miss Patty released on Defected Records in 2007. He continues to add to that list as his production skills get tighter with each new release. With a heavy tour schedule, Alix has been on the road spreading the Sole Channel love world wide from ..Japan.. to ....Johannesburg.... and everywhere in between. Alix and Mr.V have teamed up with famed Parisian producer Franck Roger as co-creators of the internationally renowned 5 Beats party which hold residencies in ..Paris.., ....London.... and NYC. The monthly event brings the best dj talent from around the world. Reinventing house music by combining it with hip hop sounds, Alix’s productions continue to defy the boundaries of electronic music. He is blazing trails and setting precedence for the future of music.

MrMusic presents the BackToHouse Radioshow with DJ Mark Grant (Chicago) in the mix
What makes a legend: longevity, fame, respect or a combination of the three? Label owner, songwriter, producer and DJ, Mark Grant has been making legendary moves for 23 years now. He is a world traveled DJ with a non-stop tour schedule secured by a fan base that stretches from his hometown ..Chicago.., to as far as ....Istanbul..... Hes produced a number of songs and remixes that have garnered him the respect of his peers and music media. Put it all together and you have an internationally known, well-respected talent who has shown incredible resilience in an industry of one-hit wonders. Its true, Mark Grant has the stuff of legend, but with no signs of stopping, dont call him one, just yet.
In 2005 alone, Mark Grant produced three chart-topping songs featuring Chicago Idol winner, vocalist Russoul for his label imprint, Blackstone Recordings. Louie Vega and Marques Wyatt licensed the first single; Girl With U for mixed CDs on Defected and OM, respectively. There 4 Me appeared on Roy Davis Jr.s mixed compilation, Get Large for Large Records. Those two songs, along with You R The 1, were all best sellers in a sluggish vinyl market for Syntax Distribution, as well as their impressive performance in mp3 formats on Tracksource.com and Clickgroove.com. All of which has helped Grant newly cement a spot on iTunes, where Blackstone music will soon be available. Within one short year, Grant has established Blackstone as a formidable vocal house label and a-cant-miss hit source for DJs.
Label owner Cajmere sees the writing on the wall. Most every release on his Cajual and Relief imprints of the last two years has contained a Mark Grant remix. Thats over 15 remixes that Grant has created for artists such as Dajae, Green Velvet and Cajmere himself. Grants remixes for Cajual are bought, played and charted with great regularity by globetrotting DJs, giving further proof to Grants ability to make extraordinary music. In truth, Cajmere always knew this. In Cajuals hey day of the mid-to-late 90s, Grant was considered the go-to guy for remixes and was the only producer in their stable to mix a compilation for the label. When A Taste of Cajual dropped in 1997, it received numerous critical accolades including honors from Rolling Stone critic Greg Kot as one of the years 15 best.
Grants success with mix compilations continued with a three-turntable masterpiece for OM records, Sound Design Volume 2. The 2001 release was capped off with a 20-city tour that made Mark Grant a house-hold name. A tour de force with tracks from Masters at Work, Truby Trio, Inland Knights and more, SD Vol. 2, established that its never Memorex with Grant. On tour, he re-created his live recording, playing every venue on three turntables where available.
For a man who needs no introduction, Grant still feels he has much to accomplish. In the near future, Grants Blackstone label will release two new singles, Shame featuring female vocalist Swaylo, and another project with Russoul, Guessin Again. These records will be the first pressed by the new distribution arm of Cajual Records, a newly inked deal for Grant. There are also plans for a Mark Grant artist album to debut later this year comprised of new takes on some of Grants best sellers, as well as future releases. Furthermore, Grant has also been tapped to mix a new compilation for Chicago label Large in the next year that will undoubtedly lead to a supporting tour for Grant. Not to mention the inevitable remix requests that Grant will field this year. When 2006 is over, then lets discuss the words legend and Mark Grant in the same sentence.

MrMusic presents the BackToHouse Radioshow with Mr. K’Alexi Shelby (....Chicago....) in the mix ............................................................................ ....CHICAGO.... – SPECIAL WITH K’ALEXI DJ and producer K Alexi is one of ....Chicago....'s true heroes and cited by many as a pioneer the city's sound- Kaay's first pressing 'Essence of a Dream' is still regarded a classic today. At the age of 12 Kaay was already moving in the right circles, befriending worldwide legends like Frankie Knuckles and Ron Hardy whilst frequenting the famous Warehouse. His upbringing in Chicago in the 70's and 80's meant that Kaay was exposed to a range of genres and different styles of music including Stevie Wonder, Prince, Curtis Mayfield and David Huff - these same names would prove to be the roots of influence. A tally of successful hit records remixing and collaborating with other artists resulted in his talents being sought by a diverse range of artists like The Pet Shop Boys, Derrick May, Angel Abi, Paul Johnson, Mr Lee (who produces for R Kelly). He's also worked with Larry Heard & Robert Owens, Dave Angel, Tjen Tjen, Felix Da Housecat and Will Smith. Just as notorious for his DJing ability as his production, Mr Alexi has played at just about every exotic location imaginable as well as in the ....UK.... his smooth blend of house disco and TecSoul www.myspace.com/mrkalexisound

MrMusic presents the BackToHouse Radioshow with Ralf Gum in da Mix
............................................................................
Ralf GUM is one of the highest respected figures in the house music scene for the distinctive qualities in his exceptional productions and DJ-sets. Since Ralf’s DJ career started in 1990 he stayed true to his passion for cool and diverse house music. Harmony & Soul & Groove – just some aspects of Ralf’s typical sound.
Ralf GUM’s producing music since 1993 and worked with notable artists as Inaya Day, Michael Procter, Beady Belle, Wunmi, Concha Buika or the fascinating Monique Bingham. He worked for top labels like Defected (his first remix for Defected’s classic record 'Love is what you need (Look ahead)' by King unique instantly hit the 1 position on Traxsource's download charts in March 2009), Mn2S, Peppermint Jam, Tommy Boy, Compose, InfraCom!, Sole Music, Milk & Sugar, Look At You and many others. Ralf has released well-known songs, among them the soulful hit of 2008 “Kissing Strangers” (GOGO Music) featuring Monique Bingham, which was a bestseller in its genre in 2008. Thus it got 1 in the “Top 100 Singles 2008” and the “biggest house track 2008” in the chart of the ultra-credible Traxsource download-shop. Further hits of Ralf include “All This Love For You” featuring Diamondancer, “Ponle Tumbao”, "Helena Brown - Canção Dourada" or „Ralf GUM feat. Concha Buika – Nobody can touch me”. Ralf GUM’s productions made it to a worldwide renown trademark in the house scene and ..UK..’S TTR magazine called Ralf “one of ....Germany....’s finest” in 2005.
But Ralf not only convinces as a producer - first of all his DJ-sets have helped him building up his reputation as an upfront tastemaker. With a feeling for the vibe, he convincingly played at more than 350 German and international spots, including gigs all over Europe, ..Japan.., the Middle East and the ....United States..... In autumn 2008 Ralf toured ..South Africa.. for the first time with great response and was the first German house DJ who got booked in ....Botswana.....
Ralf GUM embarked on the development of his own record label GOGO Music in 2001. With strong ambitions and his love for house music being the driving force, GOGO Music has become ....Germany....’s, if not one of world’s most reputable house music labels. Late 2005 GOGO Music was called “one of the hottest imprints around” by ..UK..’s leading magazin “Blues & Soul” and ....Germany....’s “Subculture” wrote that “GOGO Music is the prime German house label”. In April 2009 ..Chicago..’s best house music publication “5 Magazine” wrote, that “GOGO Music has become synonymous with the best Deep House produced in ..Europe..”. In 2003 Ralf initiated the own GOGO Music Radioshow. Besides his sets the weekly show features Benny Pecoraio and from time to time selected guest-DJs. To date the show is broadcasted by more than 30 stations around the globe.
Next to Ralf GUM’s productions, he started two further projects. "SUGAR BEAT", is a collaboration with drummer Steffen Meder and developed out of their unique live performance: “Jazzy Live Drums & Uplifting Spinning”. Together with soulmate Benny Pecoraio, Ralf joined forces and started “4 Ears”. Their first release 'Can't Be Without You' was signed to Canadian deep house label Iwanai Music.
During his career Ralf had the pleasure to compile and mix various CD-Compilations. Including in 2004 “Arrival Vol I” (Double Mix-CD together with Howard Donald - Take That, for which they toured together all over ....Germany....) and “Studio – the finest in lounge and house music”, which was selected as CD of the month in the German “Raveline” magazin in December 2004. In Februar 2005 the first GOGO Music labelcompilation “GO!” including highlights of 3 years label work was released. It was called the best compilation of the year by ....UK....’S TTR magazin. In October 2006 the second part “GO!!” hit the market.
In 2006 Ralf GUM held his first GOGO Music Winter Music Conference event in ....Miami.... with great success. With an impressive line-up including e.g. Kenny Dixon Jr aka Moodyman, Theo Parrish, Markus Enochson plus the GOGO Music DJs, the party went down in a storm and was one of the most talked about events at the conference. 2007 saw GOGO Music teaming up with Atal Music and Bubble Soul for a joint WMC event at Hotel Victor called 'Yes Please'!'. The event was a likewise great success and the kick-off for further “Yes Please” events including the critical acclaimed WMC event in 2008 at Sagamore, the 2009 WMC party at Casanova Suite and ADE 2008 event at Mansion. More highlights in Ralf GUM's DJ career worth to mention are the appearance at MTV’s “....Battle.... of the DJs” in April 2003 and invitations to the You.FM Clubnight (Hessischer Rundfunk Radio and TV, 2 times in 2005, one time in 2006, 2007 and 2009).
In 2008 Ralf GUM unveiled his long awaited debut masterpiece album titled “Uniting Music” on his label GOGO Music. Composing a continuous piece of music, seamless and blended into a luscious texture of soulful-, afro-and latin-house and jazz inspired grooves, Ralf showcased his ability to create wonderful original songs. With each song intertwining with another, he’s pushing the boundaries well beyond the traditional dj mix sense! Almost seeming like one beautiful track the whole album contained it all: really pretty dreamy tracks, some real groovin’ live sounding deals and some late night slices of hypnotic house, too. The album received great plaudit worldwide. For example ....UK....’s M8 Magazine called the CD „simply one of the best albums of the year“ and the 3Sat TV show “Kulturzeit” wrote on their web-site that “no single second of the album bores”. “Uniting Music” was released by Rambling Records in ..Japan.. and Soul Candi in ....South Africa.... as well.
The hallmark of Ralf’s sound is his love funky harmonies coupled with wicked underground beats and crisp percussion. But the distinctive groove isn’t the only reason for Ralf’s success – his passion for all things soulful shines through in all he does. This helps him creating a simply irresistible groove.
