Artists, venues and organizations should send news items to amplifier@bgdailynews.com and enter events in the calendar at Amplifier.BGDailyNews.com Writers and editorial staff get story ideas primarily from these two sources.

If you have recorded material or a book/writing they can be sent directly to contributors or mailed to the Amplifier, PO Box 90012, Bowling Green KY 42102. Contributors with myspace pages are the first in our friends list.

Often we will hear from an artist at the time they want a story done because something is currently happening in their career. While timeliness is always a major factor in how stories are chosen, stories are rarely done if we are previously unaware of the artist. In other words, it’s the names that pop up in the calendar or in "band news" type emails and press releases that are most likely to be chosen. So your best bet for having a story done is to regularly use our free services in promoting yourself.

For more details about the Amplifier or forms to submit information to our various directories, visit Amplifier.BGDailyNew.com and click on the "about us" link at the bottom of any page.

There are several ways you can use our site at http://amplifier.bgdailynews.com for free promotions if you are a local artist or a local arts & entertainment related business, organization or event.

1. Free calendar listings.  Enter events online ( http://www.bgdailynews.com/calendar/submit/ ) and they will appear on both the Amplifier and the Daily News websites.  This will also submit them for print consideration in the Amplifier and the Daily news.  For print entries should be made by midmonth each month.

2. Free directory listings.  Go to the "about us" ( http://www.bgdailynews.com/the_amplifier/about_us/ )section at the bottom of any page on our website and you will see forms to submit detailed information to our directories.  Choose all the directories that apply - venues, bands, musicians, visual artists, writers or performers.

3. Press releases - Send your press release to amplifier@bgdailynews.com  Detailed press releases are often posted among our articles.  They are also a primary source of story ideas for our writers.

4.  Jukebox - If you are a band or musician send us up to 3 mp3s with information about each song and we will post it in our local jukebox.  These files only play on the jukebox and are not available for download by the public.

5.  Contribute - We welcome contributions from any source.  This would include articles, photos, videos etc.  We utilize both Flickr and Youtube embeds on our site.  If you have photos or video related to local arts and entertainment be sure to email us a link so we can add it to our playlists.

6. Photo Galleries - The Daily News and the Amplifier share several photo galleries and you are welcome to upload pictures there.  Click on "reader submitted photos" at http://www.bgdailynews.com/gallery/submit/

7. Forum - Post messages or start conversations on our forum ( http://bgdailynewssoundoff.yuku.com/forums/65/t/Amplifier.html )  You can create your own profiles for use with any of the Daily News' family of forums.

8. Advertise - Reach your target audience placing an ad in south central Kentucky's entertainment monthly.  Email amplifierads@bgdailynews.com for more information.

9.  Post a comment on our myspace page at ( http://myspace.com/theamplifier )  We only accept friends from south central Kentucky, however anyone is welcome to post a comment.

Current mood:  tired
About that shameless self promotion I've been posting around on my friends' comment sections. The Amplifier's mission of promoting arts & entertainment in south central Kentucky can only work with your help. While buying ads obviously supports the paper, there are many other things that help ensure it continues. First and foremost - the use of our FREE services to assist you in promoting yourself. More complete listings in our calendars and indexes and more activity on our forum draw more readers which at least in theory draws more advertisers who sustain the existence of these services.

So please help us promote you by listing public shows in our coverage area in the calendar at http://www.bgdailynews.com/calendar/submit/ and post to the forum at http://bgdailynewssoundoff.yuku.com/forums/65/t/Amplifier.html

Our directory of artists & venues in our area contains information on the area's talent and facilities.  To be included visit the about us section at the bottom of any page and choose the appropriate form.

All of these things are linked on the mainpage at amplifier.bgdailynews.com
