Here we have another of these strange experiments with the far upper reaches of my vocal range, eschewing actual instruments in favor of alot of wonky vocal fuckery. Although Jared's guitar does make a cameo appearance. Jared also played bass. The percussion is me hitting various things.

This is a very rough draft song, just trying out some new ideas. Been strangely fascinated by this primitive tribal chorale thing lately. Expect to see this song, in some form on some future album, in the year 20X6.

Like "Girl on the Internet", this is another of those "just for the hell of it" fun songs. Wrote and recorded it this weekend while trapped in my apartment by a massive snowfall.

P.S Sorry I suck at piano.  : (

Snow is coming down
Roads are turning white
Everyone's at home
Salting down the ice
And I'm alone out here
Cause no one wants to drive
Paralyzed with fear
From radio advice
But I am not afraid
of a little ice
I will take the chance
To be with you tonight

Cause this world of white
This winter wonderland
is just a bunch of snow
when you're alone
I don't need no chains
To make it through the pass
All I need is you
and maybe a towtruck

In the great northwest
No one seems to know
How to drive in rain
Or how to handle snow
And neither do I
But that won't slow me down
I will think of you
While I'm spinning round
I don't want to be
trapped in this alone
But I would love to be
Trapped inside your home

In answer to a few of you's questions...

No, no new songs yet, except for the new song I posted a while back.
No, no shows lined up yet.
There are several things that have to happen before I can start playing shows. Jared McSharry needs to move back here from Yakima. I need to get a lot of money and buy some new music gear to replace my old, broken music gear. And I need to cause Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band to fail and break up so that Matt and Benjamin will have enough time to be my bassist and drummer, respectively.
So, if any of you would like to help with either of those objectives, we can hurry this thing along.

But to hold you over, allow me to present yet another sideproject of mine....the amazing serial killer thriller family drama film,  SUNROOF!

PART 2

New song alert!

This song was inspired by me and my friend Nichole's road trip to San Francisco a couple weeks ago. It's like, a road trip anthem. Life affirmation and whatnot. Summer sun!

This was a little "for no good reason" recording -- it's pretty raw. Enjoy!

You can has lyrics:

Get up fast now get in the car
Don't call your boss don't call your mom
Don't pack your bags don't pack a map
Don't stop the mail don't feed the cat
Don't tell your friends don't tell yourself
Just close your eyes open your eyes

And feel that summer wind just blowing through your sweaty hair
We don't know where we're going but at least it aint nowhere
Our asses are immobile but our upper half can dance
So blow a couple speakers and tell your brain to shut
the
fuck
up
Wooo!

Well now take your hands off the steering wheel
Don't close your eyes but don't try to steer
Forget that shit about 2 and 10
Cause we're all gonna die so just find yourself a rythym
and CLAP

Drove down the west edge of the world
No place to stay we had to pay
Slept in the car in a field of wine
Cops had their say drove us away
So we sang the blues got in the news
They flew away! Just flew away!
Drove right off that Golden Gate
We flew away we flew away

We feel the pull of gravity
Release its hold, we're finally free
Our bodies are winged chariots
We want to burn, don't bury us

The only thing better than Dead Children is Dead Children on the internets.

The album is now available for your squeaky digital little Generation Z downloading pleasure. So now, finally, instead of buying the album in entirety, you can just pick out the Hit Singles and ignore the rest of that corporate filler crap!  Whew!

Enjoy the Moon Colony on ITUNES!

So I'm trying to put a band together for playing shows. Anyone know any drummers who have the time talent and interest to play the kind of songs you hear here on my page? They would need to be able to play various styles of drumming, I'm definitely not looking for punk or straight ahead rock style beats.

Also looking for a righteous bass player. Nothing terribly fancy, just solid ability.

Let me know if you or anyone else in the world is interested.

December 26, 2007 - Wednesday
Alert to all interested parties! -- my first solo album, "Dead Children", is finished, mastered, packaged, and ready to be listened to. It has 8 songs, 6 of which can be heard on my page. There are 4 new songs you've not yet heard at all, and all the old ones have been remixed and added on to. It's been long and hard, getting this thing done, but it's finally finished. That's what she said.

Please go to the page and have a listen. Know that the sound quality on the CD is a LOT better than the ultra-compressed Myspace versions of these songs. If you'd like to own a CD, instructions how to order are on the page. Wheeeeee!

Merry Post-Christmas Hangover, one and all!

Every instrument used in this song is an instrument that comes from my childhood, things I've had laying around for years that are attached to various points of my growing up. The Rhodes I used to play in church when I used to go to church, the Casio which was the first instrument I ever owned, and the ancient kid-size Yamaha keyboard that my best childhood friend had, which I eventually stole from him. The beats are actual samples from an Atari, a Commodore 64, and various ancient drum machines. Call it "Method" recording.

September 26, 2007 - Wednesday
A bit of a departure from what I've been doing here so far. This song is destined to go on the new Tallest Building album, but I wanted to record a solo version of it just to hammer it out and show it to y'all. Pick a bale o' cotton.

September 11, 2007 - Tuesday
So apparently the project is becoming a little more ambitious, since this new song has lappy beats and some actual Rock at the end. (I recorded all this in my apartment. You can bet the neighbors love me and fear me now.) Sadly, Apt. 6 is no super-studio, and my mixing and EQing abilities leave something to be desired, but it still sounds pretty good here. Sadder still, the Rock at the end gets hideously mangled by Myspace's compressor for some reason, and ends up sounding like a bunch of mushy static, but, such is life.

HUGE THANKS to Colin Isler for contributing his Cello Mastery to this song. When he plays that cello everything within a 300 foot radius turns to gold. (except recording equipment, thank God) I made him do like 10 takes and just kept putting bags of potatos in front of him. Now I have like 10 bags of gold potatos. I'm rich.

So now I have three songs, and I think if I can get at least 2 more, maybe 3, for a total of 6, I will release a homemade little EP. (working title is "Mbox Smallpox)" That way you'll be able to hear what the songs are supposed to sound like, and you can also use it to protect expensive table tops from moisture on beer glasses.
