so we're almost done with the new 5-song EP. the goal is to have less and less songs with each CD. next album we're aiming to have 1/3 of a song. it'll be awesome.

anyway -- goin good, recording with minehan at woolly mammoth again, all's well. some vids and pix from the studio are up.

oh -- today's eliahu's bday, so drop by that fat retard's page and wish him a happy one.

all right so if i was smart like some people (jeff allen), i'd've explained the deal with the "megaman" track when i first uploaded it.

to the people who've emailed and PMed asking what's up with the song, is it a stylistic shift for the band, are we "going in a new direction," have we "gone bu-fucking insane" etc -- it's just some thing we did for the I AM 8-bit thing. which i cant really explain too well. http://www.iam8bit.net/

we did the theme from the video game "megaman" and our boys in artillery did the theme from "ikari warriors" or something like that and both were featured in a special edition of the video game, "Guitar Hero."

does that clear it up? are you happy now?

oh -- the melodic stuff at the very end as well as all the rhythm is daniel; the guitar stuff that sounds like james williamson/joe perry wanna-be ripoffs is chris; the steve vai-ish "deedle-deedle-deedle-dee" thing that happens each time after the main figure, as well as the first 2/3 of the guitar solo is our friend gark.

now i'm tired.

look at me -- blogging.  feels unnatural: i'm light-headed, developing a rash, cottonmouth...

but last night was too fucking fun not to post something.

not only did: vagiant put on a killer first-ever set, artillery bring unusual amounts of metal to the abbey, and tenafly vipers give the gamp a very rockin send-off gig, but we (acrobrats) got to play a song by my all-time favorite band (bullet lavolta) with the orig guitarist/songwriter.

after running into kenny chambers (blv, moving targets, american pulverizer, etc) at the bar, he agreed to come up and play "dead wrong" with us.

which was...  pretty fucking amazing -- esp given that it was unexpected/unplanned.  a few songs into our set, kenny came up and suddenly was playing my guitar through my rig while i did my best (still not too good) yukki gipe impression.

i dunno how good it sounded and i hope he thought we didnt completely suck, but regardless -- kind of a watershed moment for me.  me and daniel have idolized blv and all those guys since HS and that was just wicked, wicked fun.

add this to recently having played with king kendall from the amazing royal crowns and to expecting our new CD/EP out shortly and this has been a great couple months for us.

that's all i got.  i'm happy.

mo took some great pix -- a bunch with kenny.  you can check 'em out at: http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=723801&blogID=93871709&MyToken=03548bf0-2100-4b4c-9bb7-d1fdbd4fd808
