Endless Mic - The All New Super Exclusive Al Gore Bongwater Club Mixtape Vol. 1

Produced, recorded, mixed and mastered at home by Deez in Greensboro, NC | Track 9 was produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by the Apple Juice Kid in Raleigh, NC

What do you get when you mix Similac with Cognac? You get the hip-hop crew, Endless Mic. Coming to you out of Chapel Hill, N.C. with The All New Super Exclusive Al Gore Bongwater Club Mixtape Vol. 1, the band's free digital mixtape fuses conscious lyrics over familiar beats from the '80s, '90s and now.

Written and recorded over the course of a month, much of the mixtape features first-take verses spontaneously composed during late night recording sessions. Endless Mic approaches this recording much like a wrestling match, tag-teaming verses without hesitation. The MCs' seamless rhymes flow directly into the next track, hence the group's name.

Endless Mic makes a mockery of 50 Cent's "I Get Money" with its rendition entitled, "I Need Money." Here, the group uses a humorous approach to tackle the familiar struggles of being caught in the rat race.

Sampling from Daft Punk, the track "Confessions From The Doo-Doo Nation" is so brutality honest that it will beat up your eardrums and have you hitting repeat for another licking. Hands down the best song of the mixtape, each group member strips himself naked in each revealing verse. A standout line from the song is, "You see we've all got monsters in the closet / If you don't wanna hear about mine then you can pause it."

Not since Eminem has the envelope been pushed this far. While the controversial group often opts for shock value, the act simultaneously promotes conscious thought. Endless Mic's witty wordplay is sure to satisfy your insides right before gut punching you. (Trekky Records)

Endless Mic and Trekky Records are proud to announce the release of the "All New Super Exclusive Al Gore Bongwater Mixtape Volume One." The mixtape reflects some material the boys found time to record during their hectic schedules supporting their most recent release, "Baby Geniuses." Written and recorded over the course of a month, much of the mixtape features first-take verses, spontaneously composed during late night recording sessions. Listeners may recognize re-imaginings of beats from the likes of Daft Punk, Missy Elliot, Pink Floyd, 50 Cent, and others. "Al Gore Bongwater Club" also includes contributions from Geechi Suede of Camp Lo and FreeBass 808 (AKA the Apple Juice Kid), on a remix of "Brother" by Endless Mic’s hometown friends Annuals.

The mixtape, as a musical format, has always been a liberating medium, freeing up the artists from the constructs of standard LPs. The format is also a way to reach listeners and fans more directly. For that reason, "The All New Super Exclusive Al Gore Bongwater Club Mixtape Volume One" is available for download at here, right now, for free.

Oh yeah, you can donate too ( only if ya wanna ).

Students from all over the Greensboro area packed into the Alumni Gym to see North Carolina local hip-hop group Endless Mic and DJ RJD2 in a concert hosted by Guilford's radio station WQFS. As the artists were introduced, the fans screamed for them in anticipation. Endless Mic took the stage first.

Endless Mic is made up of two rappers, Zano and Stu!, while Deez produces the beats. They are currently students at UNCG.

"(Stu!) and I started just from free-styling at parties," Zano said. They started as juniors in high school in Chapel Hill. Deez, who was performing on his own in Durham, joined Endless Mic two years ago.

Their music has been popular at Guilford; their newest CD, "Baby Geniuses," frequently appears on the charts of WQFS. Endless Mic was excited at the chance playing with RJD2 because they grew up listening to RJD2's music.

"This is actually our second time with RJ," Stu! said. "We played with him in Chapel Hill when he was with Soul Position rhyming with Blueprint. It's almost more exciting the second time to know that he is still trying to do things with us."

As Endless Mic performed, the crowd sang and cheered along. Endless Mic took the crowd's excitement and returned the favor by interacting with them. The front row was able to reach out and touch Endless Mic and one gave Zano water. Endless Mic also gave two fan members the chance to freestyle to Deez's beats.

At the end of their performance, Deez and Zano jumped into the crowd to become one with their audience. Several members of the crowd took the stage to dance to the beats along with Stu!.

"I thought Endless Mic stated out a little slow but they really got pumping after the first song," said first-year Rory Smyth. "Dancing on stage for the last song was a lot of fun! It was cool to look out over the massive crowd."

"You aren't going to find more enthusiasm than with a college crowd," Stu! said.

After Endless Mic left the stage, RJD2 pumped up an already excited crowd. People were inspired by his beats and his video clips which were varied; he started off with a video of sea life, changed to a live feed of his hands working the turntables, then switched to a video of a man running down a street. Fans were enthralled by his music, leaving many craving more.

"His beats were easy to dance to and I liked his visuals," said first-year Mara Karell. "I felt that the crowd had more energy during his set."

"RJD2 came out with sick beats that blew my mind," Symth said.

RJD2, who spent earlier this year touring with a band, decided to change his performance and try more private venues like colleges.

"(The change) is more focused on the electronic side of what I do than the live side," RJD2 said.

"I hope you like what you hear" RJD2 said in his song "Salud."

The crowd, with all its cheers, dancing, and trance states, appeared to love what they heard

Baby Mic
The expression 'for the essential variation' is from an old Dutch television commercial for a sandwich spread and this expression is also very appropiate for my choice of music. I don't like all sorts of pop music, but I'm also not limited to just indie rock and indie pop. For instance, I like to listen to hiphop now and then and a review of Endless Mic is not so out of place here.
Endless Mic is a hiphop-trio from Chapel Hill, North Carolina and consists of two MCs and a producer, called Zano, Stu! and Deez, respectively. The first two have met in highschool and their first two LPs were self-released. Their third album "Cave Livin'" was released by Trekky Records in 2005 and they have also just released the new album "Baby Geniuses". On their MySpace-pagina they mention Steely Dan as influence and although this sounds a bit strange (and it might even be a joke), Endless Mic doesn't sound like most hiphopbands. They didn't put a large number of downloadable mp3's on internet, but you can listen to three songs (two from the new and one from the previous album) on the band's media page. "Watching Your World" is one of those new songs and this one is free for your download.

Long before Johnny Depp brought eyeliner back, Kurt Russel reigned supreme as America's Pirate Laureate.
For the (hopefully) few of you that may not have seen or heard of a little movie called Captain Ron, let me spare you the research and just go ahead and tell you it's about one man with one mission...to partayyy!  Ron is the captain of keepin' it cool, the first mate of fun,  the admiral of something.  Anyway, the bottom line is, you shouldn't worry about what the movie is about; the Captain wouldn't.
Killa Kurt is without a doubt one of the finest actors of the last 30 years, and certainly the most becoming of an eye patch.  He probably wears one just out of habit now.
Here he is in Escape from L.A.:

And Escape From New York:

and here in Captain Ron:

in "Death Proof" he rocks a scar on his patch-wearin' eye...which means he probably had a patch at some point...so that counts.

either way, do yourself a favor and indulge in Thom Eberhardt's masterpeice...you'll come away a better person, or at least learn how many times you can laugh at someone falling off of a boat
