I had these nifty t-shirts made for the last tour, they are screen printed on super soft cotton t-shirts. Only a small number of these are left, when they're gone they are gone. Each order comes with a hand written "thank you note" from me. So great as a gift! Available in both Mens and Women's Style T-shirts. They are available only in my online shop at www.jacobgolden.com/shop enjoy, jacob golden

Just wanted to let you know that I had to take down the direct download for Revenge Songs that I put up on myspace and my website a few days ago. I ran into contract difficulties with the British label for that album that prevents me from selling it myself. I'm bummed because it's not up on iTunes and I've felt bad for folks who tried to get the album in the States which is still only available at Barnes and Noble. I've been assured that the album will be up on iTunes soon. So I apologize if you didn't get a chance to get one. I want to assure my fans that I will make it a priority on my next album to get a proper world wide release as I know the album has been hard to get outside the UK. I'm thinking of ways to have a limited edition pre-release , so check my blog for updates. It's a little sad to let go of an album I worked so hard on. I'm sure one day it will get the release it deserves. As for now I'm putting all my focus on the new album, recording and writing everyday. I look forward to sharing the new music with you all soon.
Thanks for everything, Jacob Golden

Been doing the Twitter thing lately and actually really enjoying sharing the random thoughts that pop into my head during the day. It's nice to to write little notes and not feel like it has to be some epic blog or something. So if you want to keep tabs on what I'm getting up to as I'm recording my new album and navigating the life matrix then head over to my Twitter page. www.twitter.com/jacobgolden xo, jacob Jacob Golden on iLike -

Jacob Golden Illustration by Johnnie Cluney When I was in Austin Last Year for SXSW I recorded some songs with the Daytrotter folks. I was really honored to record these songs with Daytrotter, For me it's like the american equivilant of doing a Peel Session. (R.I.P.- J.P.) They made a really nice recording of me playing live, a couple of the songs are unreleased. They also did a nice write up and a really sweet drawing of me. ; ) You can download the songs for free at the Daytrotter site - while you're there have a look at all the other great sessions they've done. Jacob Golden- Daytrotter SessionHere's the Songs I performed -
- I'm Your Man (Jacob Golden) original version appears on Revenge Songs
- Blue Bird (Jacob Golden) -unreleased
- 'merican (Decendents Cover)
- Hold Your Hair Back (Jacob Golden) original version appears on Revenge Songs
Enjoy and Let me Know what you think. cheers, jg

Hello, It's been awhile, I've been hiding out a bit up in Portland. Sorry for being out of touch. If you know me I tend to do this every so often, I guess I need time to think and sort out my thoughts and sometimes, blogging and myspacing just feels too personal and I have to take a step back and just be alone. but I'm feeling a little more outgoing now so I thought I'd drop a line and say hello. Setting up my new home studio. Lot's of new songs in various states. I've got a good start on the new album I'm patiently sifting through the melodies and learning how to mix yet again, always trying to raise the bar as a producer, and the eternal quest for the perfect reverb. Trying to fill my head with good words and transform my thoughts into lyrics. Very much in recording mode. It's kind of nice when the songs are in the state where they haven't been played at shows yet and everything is still loose . I'm really enjoying having that time with the songs before I figure out which ones will be sent out into the world to live their own life. What else... Reading back issues of the Paris Review and really digging Paul Auster's books. Musically, loving Fleet Foxes, Andrew Bird and a little bit of Death Metal on the side - Cannibal Corpse and Order of Ennead. As Lennon said - "I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round" Bye for now, jg

I realized I never put this one up on myspace. So here it is with out further ado; The video i made for On a Saturday. This is another homemade video filmed last Fall in England while on tour. I wanted to capture the sort of cramped situation of touring by car so i put my little dv camera on the dash board and let it slide around a bit while me and my trusty friend Mark drove around those wee country roads. Enjoy, jg

We're opening up our East Coast Tour dates for some living room gigs. fun fun. this would be both Jacob Golden and The Battle of Land and Sea... How it works is that we show up at your house/gallery/artspace etc. and play for you and your friends. we ask for a suggested donation at the door and the evening is always memorable and the most direct way of experiencing the music. (way better then a noisy bar!) i've posted the dates (dates are flexible) we need help for below, we're also flexible on the location, say within 100 miles... maybe more, give it a shot:) THE BEST WAY IS EMAIL- battlemusic@gmail.com still get in touch if you're interested in hosting a show but live somewhere else, i'm gonna start saving these kinda things outside of myspace..so when we're heading your way we can get in touch. Please don't message me here for bookings as it's hard to keep track of- THE BEST WAY IS EMAIL- battlemusic@gmail.com hope to hear from you, jacob

Hey All, Played a really cool show Friday Night in Portland. I was playing guitar for 'the battle of land and sea' and we supported a really sweet band called Vetiver. the guys in the band were really friendly and as Sarah pointed out there was a quality of "the Band" to their songs. you should check them out if you can www.myspace.com/vetiverseGetting ready to head over to the uk next week. there's always so much to do before these trips. We are also booking our own tour around the east coast and the west coast of America. I will be posting dates on my page for the tour soon. I've been playing everyday in my music room at home and trying out different songs, different ways of approaching older songs and just trying to continue to move forward as an artist. It's easy to become focused on building a career and while i know its important to make a living, the bottom line is I always want my music to be the main focus whether or not I've "made it" or not. I was just talking with a friend about how important it is to cultivate loving situations and I think this really applies to building a career. I've always wanted to travel the world playing music, making records and doing something positive with my life. not settling. when you stick your neck out to do that there's plenty of folks who will support that and plenty that just don't give a fuck and thats fine. but I really want to be conscious about making sure what I'm doing with my time feels good, artful, fulfilling and not clouded by commercial self-consciousness. I guess it's about finding the people out there that respond to my approach. I'm certainly not banging down the doors of the mainstream, but i do feel my songs have a longevity about them and with the right situation could find their way into the ears of musically discriminating folks. it can be a bit hard to stay afloat when you haven't quite reached the harbor or maybe I haven't even left yet? bon voyage, jacob I think there should be some tickets still left for these shows- 18.05.08: Cardiff Clwb Ifor Bach, supporting Sarabeth Tucek. Tickets are £6 21.05.08: Bath Porter Cellar Bar, supporting Sarabeth Tucek. Free entry. 23.05.08: Glasgow Oran Mor supporting Sarabeth Tucek. Buy tickets

Hey Everyone. I wanted to tell you about a special show i've got coming up on June 3rd. I will be headlining a show at the infamous Troubadour club in London. The Troubadour was the first place where Bob Dylan performed in London. So I'm pretty honored to play this stage. I'm pulling a double shift that night and playing atmospheric guitar for " The Battle of Land and Sea" who are on first, So be sure you get there early to catch all the action. Also, the really cool thing about this show is everyone that comes will get a free e.p. CD which I recorded a few months back at RAK Studios. I haven't officially put this out yet, but it's definitely the best official 'bootleg' you are gonna find of my music. After the show, I'll be signing copies of the cd as requested. This is a very intimate venue and only holds around 100 people so make sure to reserve your tickets for this one early. click here to order your ticketsSee you in London! jg

Wow, I woke up this morning to find my email rammed with Youtube related messages and opon checking my Youtube channel I saw that my video for "Zero Integrity" is featured on the homepage! (This is the one I recorded on the street in Sacramento with the built in camera on my Macbook pro). Wow, I guess this puts my little video in front of a lot of people. I’m fully prepared for nasty backlash! ; ) but with a bit of luck some new people may discover and actually enjoy my work. that would be cool! You can see the video in all it’s cyber glory over on the Youtube home page. love, jacob

It was my first trip to SXSW, the sort of industry music business bonanza that brings together at least 1000 bands from all over the world, mostly up and coming buzz bands and some more established artists to Austin, Texas for a week of music blitzkrieg and a lot of cheap beer. I guess I would still be considered an up and coming artist especially in the states, but with enough of a buzz to get one majorly cool show on Saturday night with two pretty stellar singers M.Ward and Jim James of My Morning Jacket. I had been simmering all week playing here and there, the typical stage in a parking lot with a sort of circus tent and some of the biggest insects buzzing around my back as I played sort of thing. There’s literally a band playing in every little corner, most incredibly loud alt rock bands in skinny jeans all trying to out loud or out cool one another in the hopes of some mr. big so and so out there will hear them and make them the new it band. Granted if you hunt around there were some pretty killer shows to be found. I wandered into a little club and caught some of Kimya Dawson’s set which is someone I love to watch but unfortunately almost all the subtly was lost due to the pretty much constant cacophony of sound from so many bands playing at the same time, not exactly the best environment for someone with quiet bits to their songs. One band that really worked in this environment was The Black Keys. It was great to finally get to see them live, i’ve been digging their albums for a while now and those guys have the mojo. I have to say the guitar playing is bad ass. One real high point for me was being invited to play a Daytrotter session. Go check out their site if you haven’t heard of Daytrotter yet. They do really high quality analog recordings of artists and bands and have them on their website for folks to freely download. To me this was akin to playing a Peel session- Integrity. I recorded four songs with them including two exclusives- Bluebird and a cover of the Descendents song-’Merican, this was all recorded with love and care to good old analog tape and should be a pretty wicked thing. I’ll let you know when my session goes live on their website. But the best part of SXSW for me was being invited to play in St. Davids Church with M. Ward and Jim James. Like M. Ward said that night, it felt like we were a million miles from 6th Street and I had to agree. It was so nice to have a bit of sanctuary from the madness and to play to such a quiet enthusiastic audience. These are the kind of tours I want to do. So much of the time the little nuances and subtlety of the lyrics get lost, but at a show like this when I can bring my voice done to almost a whisper, i feel like the essence of my songs can come through and I’m able to connect with the audience on a much more intimate level. It was a real honor to share a stage with M.Ward and Jim, I thought they where both excellent and not to toot my own horn, but i felt like I really held my own up there. I gave it my best and represented myself well and that felt good. M. Ward came .. me and played an absolutely gorgeous set of songs, his voice and guitar playing is very much his own and he’s really the sort of artist I look to as an inspiration, someone who really stands out among the quite homogenous singer/songwriter set. It was very fucking cool to share a gig with Jim James who was very sweet and played a great set of tunes accompanied by some gorgeous pedal steel guitar. Here are some pics from my adventures...

 M. Ward and Jim James played some really nice tunes together.

Well I've been back on the west coast of America now for a couple weeks after the UK tour and a great week spent wandering around Brooklyn NY which included a really cool show at my new favorite bookstore in the city Housing Works. Me and mine drove up to Portland OR from Sacramento and after a few days of feverishly hunting around town we've found a place to call home. I've been living out of a suitcase now for nearly a year and as much as I like touring it will be nice in between tours not to hit the Folks up for a coach to sleep on and I can finally set up my beloved home studio again and start hammering out some new songs for the next album. Time to start imagining that next chapter, lots of ideas brewing around, i'll keep you posted on the process. Oh yes, I have single coming out on Monday in the UK. In fact it's my very first single from the new album and practically of my life. It's a double A side of "Out Come the Wolves and Zero Integrity". I even convinced my record company to press up some Vinyl 7inches (just like mom used to make) and we've sprinkled them like easter eggs for hard core music fans to hunt down across the UK in indie shops and hmvs. There's not a lot of them out there so if you want one of these I'd make a move. For the rest of us you can also get the single digitally from itunes... Here's a slightly cheeky idea- If you already own my album and want to turn your friends onto my music you can "gift" the single from iTunes to as many people as you like. It's a cool way of helping to spread the word click here to gift this singleand it would be very sweet of you I would think! ; ) Have a wonderful day and weekend! jg x Here's a nice review of the new single from "This is Fake DIY" Jacob Golden - Out Come The Wolves Artist: Jacob Golden Rating: 4/5 Daintily piecing together a florid yet sorrowful collage of sounds, 'Out Come the Wolves' is a graceful example of that fashionable sphere of genre-robbing musical hybridity. Swathed in a phantasmagorical mist, the track, taken from Golden's new release, 'Revenge Songs', would not seem out of place on a fantasy score, though its numerous references to modern culture prevent it, happily, from being swallowed by fancy. Wonderfully sombre from beginning to end, the listener is entranced into an intense head-trip where 'the Dalai Lama and Quasimoto hand in hand step off the Karmic wheel' and cavort with James Brown and an army of ants. Such bewildered lyrics which rarely come together are salvaged by the backbone of Golden's confident strumming, imbuing the track with what can only be described as extreme anxiety, which bizarrely appears to work in his favour. Golden is Jeff Buckley for the faithless generation; a solemn, yet no less inventive Jeffrey Lewis. Using little more than a weeping guitar and hauntingly wistful vocals, 'Out Come the Wolves' cuts and sticks the humble debris of Golden's imagination to form a rich patchwork of sounds and sympathies. Misery has never been so sexy. 'Out Come The Wolves' is released as a single through Echo on 3rd March 2008. Emmy Watts www.thisisfakediy.co.uk
