So, break out the tinsel and tie ribbons to domestic animals, as the time has finally arrived... 'Mathematics' is now officially available and may be purchased in either lovely, shiny Digipack CD or zeros-and-ones-only digital formats from Amazon and a variety of other selected/leading/obscure outlets around the globe. Lots and lots of new reviews for the album too, with many more due to be published this coming week, the highlights of which we'll doubtless add to the Myspace page. We've also done an interview with Clash, in which we consider the possibilities of being launched into space and the potential hazards of electrocution. Read all at: renfro @ CLASHFinally, we've also added the album version our forthcoming single 'Half-Life of Happiness' to the MySpace player, we hope you like it! Tim & Atom

As you might see, having come out in Japan back in June, our album 'Mathematics' has been rescheduled for worldwide release on Oct 6th.
This is kinda frustrating, but became neccessary because we now have a press agency presenting the album to mainstream papers/music mags here in the UK so that when it does finally arrive our distributors can *hopefully* get it into shops worldwide....it's a long, complicated process and of course we're just another little new band hopping around in the far corner of a room filled with this months major label behemoths....we've had an amazing press reaction to the album so far, but who knows what the big publications will make of our little experiments in electronic dream-pop...time will tell!
Meanwhile it's been busy as ever here at renfro HQ.
We've been working on some tracks with Kathryn Baker, a great singer/songwiter who's debut album has gone down a storm in her native New Zealand. We've built some new productions/arrangements around Kathryn's acappella vocals and one of these - 'Lullaby' - is currently nestled in our MySpace player. These tracks are for inclusion on Kathryn's forthcoming album due for release around the years end.
We're now finalizing the mixes for our two forthcoming EP's - 'Half Life of Happiness' & 'Telescope' - including contributions from Porn Sword Tobacco, AGF/Laub and the legendary Christian Fennesz (amongst many others) all of whom have been hugely supportive of, and enthusiastic about renfro and who have been tinkering with our songs to very exciting effect.
We've also had beautiful video for 'Half-Life of Happiness' shot in Spain by Jonathan Cenzual, a great young British director who we hope to work with on an ongoing basis.
Plus we're just finishing up our collaboration with Damero for her second album for the seminal BPitch Control label and also completing a brand new renfro song for the forthcoming Meltwater Records compilation album....all coming soon!
Finally...have you ever taken a really close look at a dragonfly? They're like little wind-up, Jurassic-era invertebrate Pterodactyls, dive-bombing one another for the best spot over the water. Making music, as we do, in the deepest rural coutryside of North Devon, we've really come to love those little beasties this year.

Apologies for the recent radio silence - it's been an exciting but hectic time here at renfro HQ - but this is where we can finally reveal what we've been up to these past months, and answer some of the questions that we're been receiving.
Firstly, our album 'Mathematics' was mastered earlier in the year in Miami by the legendary Kramer, producer of seminal musicians like Low, Galaxie 500, Robert Wyatt and more recently Dot Allison. He's done a wonderful job of tidying up our messy bits and the album now sounds a whole lot more shimmery.
Secondly, after nearly signing to not one, not two but three different labels over the course of the last 12 months or so, we finally decided to set up our own label (Meltwater) with the enthusiastic backing of the renowned Tokyo-based electronic music label/distributor Plop/p*dis...these guys handle labels like Type, Plug Research, Kitty Yo, Sub-Rosa & Lo, so we're in the best of hands.
We decided to take this route so that we could maintain complete control over everything that gets released, including all the artwork etc., and also have the opportunity to develop some other artists with whom we want to work in the future.
So, 3 years after we started recording it, 'Mathematics' is now all ready to roll, and will be released in Japan |(on Digipack CD and digital formats) on June 16th with a full worldwide release date to be announced shortly - hurrah!
There are also 2 remix singles/EP's in preparation, with new mutations of renfro tracks provided by some of our favourite artists and renfro fans from City Centre Offices, AGF, Kitty Yo, Touch, BPitch Control & Dynamophone, amongst others. We are also about to start some production work for the forthcoming Damero album for Ellen Allien's Berlin-based BPitch Control label.
Thanks everybody for hanging on in with us, and for all the fantastic messages and comments that we receive daily, you've really helped us to stay determined.
P.S. If you'd like to keep up to date with our releases and other renfro stuff then please use the clicky-link thing on the main MySpace page to sign up to our mailing list.

Greetings all,
Firstly, many, many thanks for all the great messages of support following our MySpace death and subsequent rebirth on this page back at the start of November. Seems our friend list made us a hacking target, and after two attacks we had to cancel our original account and start again.
Next up, we have posted one of our newest songs - 'Telescope' - onto the page. It showcases our abiding interest with West Coast USA sounds, and is a sort of electronic-dream-pop meets Crosby, Stills & Nash (Crosby, Stills, Nash & Laptop?) type thing, constructed entirely of manipulated samples...mainly harp samples in fact.
We have lots of other news which, annoyingly, we can't quite reveal yet, but shortly we'll be able to tell you about label and album release dates, upcoming singles, remixes from some of our favourite artists, plus videos, and the results of the first recording sessions for our second album. Yes, it's all going on this winter!
Warm thoughts from a frozen landscape Tim & Atom

Hello, Welcome to the second of our infrequent blog entries. We hope it finds you well. We have now completed the music for all of the songs on the album 'mathematics', which is very exciting. The vocals are still being mixed and there are many layers of voices (lead song 'Half-Life of Happiness' features 18 tracks of vocals for instance) and sound which we keep building up, knocking down and then building back up again. Songs have mutated in front or our eyes (and ears) into very different little creatures to the ones we hatched in the lab. We are slow workers and it has been a very intense process deciding on the final forms for our babies. We have now finalized a track listing as follows: 1. half life of happiness 2. broken little pieces 3. terrain 4. telescope 5. capture 6. illuminations 7. add/subtract 8. planting flags 9. map of missing things 10. invite the bullets in 11. traces Here is a list of some of the sounds that we have used for our most recent recordings: · Chick peas swirled in a colander · Noodles sizzling and snapping. · A bag of oats being punched · Bubble wrap being popped · The cat jangling her bell · A massive mobile made up of keys, cutlery, assorted metal items flung across a room. · Many, many more electrical wires shorting out & being generally abused · Breathing underwater · Scraping microphones across various surfaces, a la John Cage · Subsonic sounds from the outer reaches of space.
Thanks to everyone who has contacted us - we have been blown away by the level of enthusiasm and support for what we're doing. Many thanks also to the growing numbers of radio stations around the world who have picked up on us and are playing our music. We hope that you find the album to be worth the wait: we will soon be able to tell you who will be releasing it, so stay tuned! Bye for now. Tim & Atom
