Before you message me asking for a gig at the Red Lion, please read this first. (This blog does not concern the Acoustic nights at the King's Arms)

The Red Lion is run by the Greene King brewery, so this means they have a budget to pay bands. However, due to 'misunderstandings' a few gigs have not been as good as they should be. Read on.

* We only book original bands, we don't book cover bands, so don't ask for a SoundARC Promotions gig at the Red Lion.  It's nothing personal, it's just that cover bands can get a gig in any pub in the country, original bands can't. Cover bands should contact Wayne (Landlord) via the pubs myspace in our top friends for Fri/Sat gigs. (Blues bands, please deal with promoter who does the Blues nights on Sundays)

* Bands must have a set of AT LEAST 45 MINS! If you bullshit me saying you've got a 45 min set to get the gig, then fail to do so you won't get paid. The Landlord isn't going to pay out money for 2 bands to play 30 mins each and then bugger off with the cash in their pocket....and neither will we.

* The last thing we want to do is start sounding like c*nty London promoters and say "Right, you bring 50 of your friends on a coach from your pub to our pub, pay you £50 and then we'll take all the profit" ...We don't work like that. However, you're getting a guaranteed amount of money for a 45 min set, so please do your best to promote the gig, and bring at least 10-15 people who'll drink the Landord's booze. ;-)   We always try to have a two-band bill with one local (N. Herts) band headlining and one 'out-of-town' band of the same genre supporting. Local bands are expected to bring more of a crowd (25+ people), that's why you're headlining.

* Although SoundARC Promotions tend to deal with Alternative, Rock, Funk, Ska, Punk, Metal (not Death/Black metal) bands, we don't have anything against 'Indie Pop' bands. (We've booked such bands for different venues before) It's just that in the Red Lion, your stuff will probably go down like a shit sandwedge. So if your in 'The Cribertines', or your music sounds like Pete Docherty shagging Jonny Borrell, we probably can't help you.

* Please don't call me up asking for a gig. There's not much point unless your band's going to play down the phone at me. Just Myspace us with a link to your band and we'll have a listen. The number on our profile is for people who want PA hire or DJ hire, and for bands that are already booked and need to get hold of me by phone about their gig. Like most promoters, we get 15-20 messages a day from bands asking for gigs at the Red Lion. If we don't get back to you by the 2nd message, then we can't help you.

* If you send us messages which are along the lines of 'Alright Geez, fancy givin' us a gig? We're the fuckin' bollocks!' or 'Hello, I manage a band that's so obviously brilliant, i assume you'll want to book them at your venue, so here are the dates on which we are available...'  YOU REALLY WILL BE IGNORED!

* If your band members and your friends are under the age of 18, we can't offer you a gig at the Red Lion. It's not us, it's the law. Sorry.

Other than that...
