Current mood: angsty
The first half of this post is hype from our current one sheet, the second half is real writing.
Pist N Broke is the latest release by Dallas based greaser punks Spector 45. It was recorded at one of North Texas finest studios, January Sound, in June 2008 and produced by Brian Nesbitt. You may find this effort to be leaner, meaner, faster and harder than ever, but the original band mission still remains intact: to capture the pure energy of 50’s Rock n Roll and authentic seventies punk and kick it out for today’s audience. Known best for live performance, the band has been nominated twice for Dallas Observer music awards and broadcast live from the Lakewood Theater on the HD.Net Trues Music series. They have performed over 400 shows in 13 states, received airplay from New York to LA and have been mentioned in articles as far away as London and Long Beach CA. They have shared the stage with acts as diverse as The Misfits to the Violent Femmes and with local heroes The Old 97’s and the Reverend Horton Heat. This is the bands fourth effort since forming in 2003, done without management, label or booking agent support. Perhaps this will change with the current product. Meanwhile it seems everybody's jumping on Valentines Day this year to push their love for something, so we did too... We recorded this new song 'I Love You' the other day (2/ 5/ 09) at January Sound with our producer Brian Nesbitt. The idea is to throw it out there to see where it lands by making it available to download for free on our myspace and probably a few other outlets. Like here at Lastfm We seem to have captured 100% of the raw passion spontaneity, live sound that we get in Spector 45 so we're pretty happy with it.
Do yourself a favor by downloading it or sending it to somebody you like, that's why it exists. You'll also be doing us a favor by spreading it around or shouting out request for it at our shows. thanks!

Current mood: excited
Here we are a week away from heading out on another tour. We're going out with our new buds, Junkrod Joe & the Cadillac Hearse and the Perfect Poor for a couple of weeks. They are both from Baltimore, MD. which is pretty cool because we're going to need more friends up that way if we're ever going to play the East Coast. It looks like we're going to take a few days off from touring w/ them and do a couple of shows w/ the Koffin Kats in theCarolinas. They're good guys and always a blast to open for here at home, so this will be exciting working this lineup again but somewhere else for a change. It's a bitch trying to tie down the loose ends that come w/ taking on something like this. I'd kill to have a booking agent! Checking, double checking and rechecking again the clubs that we're playing to make sure we're on the calendar for example. Sure we'll show up and play but if nobody knows we're coming or who we are what good is it other than getting through another day. As it is night after night we're going to play our asses off with no real guarentee that anyone will show up or we'll get paid enough to afford the gas for the next city, but we will do it. There are a few places like the Texas dates, St Louis and Little Rock that we've played before that want us back and we also have friends in the Carolinas that are sure to assist us in drawing. We're touring the Deep South this time. Just like any other tour we will make each and every show and kick ass because that's what we do. If you feel like the helping us get the word out it'd be greatly appreciated. Also feel free to hit www.frankie45.com and download some free tunes and spread them around. Here are our dates including those we still need help with...Th 7/19- Darkside Lounge- Dallas, TX.F 7/20- Bar of Soap- Dallas, TX.Sa 7/21- Headhunters- Austin, TX.Su 7/22- Jiggers- San Antonio, TX.W 7/25- The Milestone- Charlotte, NC. w/ The KOFFIN KATSTh 7/26- Cumberlands - Charleston, SC. w/ The KOFFIN KATSF 7/27- The Starbar- Atlanta, GA.S 7/28- WC Don's- Jackson, MSSu 7/ 29- Shooters- Fort Smith, AR. M 7/30- The Rally Point, Memphis, TN.M 7/31- TBA- Nashville, TN. T 8/1- Way Out Club, St. Louis, MO.Last but not least we are once again reunited w/ our original bassist Johnny Crowbar. He's been w/ us since the beginning, on and off, for various reasons. Let him know from time to time how good it is to see him back and maybe this time he'll stick around.

Unfortunately guys, the rumors are true, about a week ago Johnny Crowbar decided that being in a band wasn't for him and Spector 45 ceased to be a band for the time being. I know alot of you say that we ought to just find another bassist, but things are much more complicated than that. Animal Anthony also made it apparent that he wasn't ready to try training yet ANOTHER bassist, so he respectfully stepped aside. It is not in our nature to have to cancel shows, but neither one of the other guys was really up for sticking it out through the rest of our shows together. I am extremly sorry for the inconvienience this has caused some people. I am covering as many of the Spector 45 shows Solo acoustic as Frankie 45. I've got new band on the way right now so feel free to keep posted and we'll keep you updated, we should be ready to rock in about a month. Thanks again to all the folks who loved and supported us throughout all the years of Spector 45. Hopefully this next endevor will be at least as successful and fun. - frankie 45.

Current mood: anxious
Well we drove abot 3,000 miles and wrapped up 12 shows in thirteen days through places like St. Louis, Little Rock, Kansas City, Oklahoma City and of course our hometown of Dallas... (the club in Denton shut down, that's why we took a day off) We also played Wicitah, Tulsa, Texarkana, and a few other places I don't recall off the top of my head... Our new van (new to us anyway) served it's purpose well except for one flat tire @ 4:00 AM. We gave it our best shot in letting folks in these cities know we were coming a few weeks ahead of schedule as well. No press coverage that I know of, but some airplay / radio support in several places. People showed up for most of our shows. Not tons of people, but it's not like we expected tons... We're unknown, unsigned and breaking new ground at nearly every stop. Friends and friends of friends and myspace friends all helped us out alot. If we can get back out there soon and even further next time, we should keep things moving in the right direction. I believe we made a good impression all around. We were on time, didn't party too much and stayed out of trouble. We met a whole lot of new people who bought our merch and made gas money at every gig we played. Even the times we got pulled over and had to deal w/ Johnny Law, they couldn't or should I say didn't give us any tickets or harrass us too much. This is cool because all we want to do is get out there and do what we do best. Being from Texas seems to be a red flag when it comes to driving out of state. The plates say Texas and cops find this an excuse to pull us over, so we've got to keep our shit togther. Setting this tour up was a major pain in the ass. Our buds A-Bomb Chop Shop from DeKalb Illinois, set up half of them. Those are some good guys! They are older and already settled down w/ jobs and wives and such so they just tour for fun. They're psychobilly and sound a lot like the Cramps, so it's complimentary to what we do. What we need NOW is a band or agent to hook us up w/ somebody who is serious about touring at this time. We hated coming home so soon and are trying to line up round two for August - September... I am currently thinking it'd be best to set up cornerstone shows like in NYC or Boston and then fill the gaps in between.... Honestly I don't know, never really done this on this scale before. What I do know a lot more about is, what is where, and that we will definately hit Memphis next time instead of driving by it twice in three days.

Damn Man here we go again! Been recording our new record w/ our permanent, three piece line up and it's coming along beautifully. We've already got nearly 30 hours in on it and have yet to mix down anything. Considering our first full length, 16 w/a Bullet, took 14 hours to record, mix and master, this one ought to be a true killer representation of what we're really up to. Note: The 'Fire & Dice' is the only piece of this 'rough mixed' stuff posted but if you express interest, we'll get you more, once it's really mixed, ASAP! Aside from that we're closing in on gig #150 and our three year anniversary so all systems are go! What we need at this time is a label and a booking agent, to help us get the fuck outta DFW, coz people really seem to like us the further out we play. Even 'we' like us better the further out we go! If you have any ideas, suggestions or connections we'd appreciate it at this time. A friend at Sony in NYC recnetly passed our stuff onto a rep at RCA in NYC and they referred us to Epitaph. Not that we're looking for a major label deal or anything, hell our track record is still unproven, so like I said it was a 'friend'... who was trying to help out. At least they listened to it and responded, which is more than most labels will do. Hell, Gearhead replied the other day too, "not looking to sign anyone at this time" but that's really what we're looking for right now, a strong reputable indie label and/or agency that gets what we're up to and will help us get to the next level. Honestly, even a touring act that could use an opener will work... We are open to suggestions / connections...

Hey guys, I know things have been kinda quiet lately, but rest assured, we're back and rocking louder and harder than ever. Our new three peice line up, featuring Johnny Crowbar on bass and back up vocals, is one screaming, rocking, hell raising machine. If you have yet to see the new line up, but consider yourself a spector 45 fan you owe it to yourself to check it out. See ya there, - frankie 45.

 photo - sample press...
We played a birthday for Jason of Sample Press the other nite in Fort Worth. We were a bit sloppy but made up for it in passion & energy! It was too much fun and everyone had a good time. Our buds the Golden Falcons and Black Tie Dynasty also played... and we all ate cake too! Then Friday we celebrated our own two year anniversary as a band at Red Blood where we played our first show. We invited our buds the Hectix, the Scandals, Tuxedo Tomcats, The Influence and Dog Company to play w/ us... BUT our bassist, Jose, couldn't make it! (he was in Austin competing for best high school bassist in Texas) So we had not one but two guys fill in, Eric Spicer on some songs and our original bassist Johnny Crowbar on others. Tons of people came out, the place went nuts and it was over the top fun for all. Overall - If you made it out to either of these shows , thanks! If not, we wish you were... maybe next time!

Well we played a benefit the other nite for David Cunniff w/ the OLD 97's, Deathray Davies and Salim Nouralah and helped raise nearly $25,000.00 towards his cause. His daughter goes to our school and he got beat up very badly /parylized at an Old 97's show last summer. We were happy to help out, honored to be asked, and as an extra bonus made the channel 4 news a couple of times and were videotaped by Mark Cubans HDTV.net for future broadcast...

Tulsa Ruled! The show at the Pink Eye in Tulsa was packed and the crowd was insane. We played w/ our buds the Letters Organize again and Tulsa's own HotrodboB. It was great to get out of state for the first time and we look forward to doing it again once spring hits and melts the interstate. The next day we put in 10 hours recording at Armstrong Recording Studio, w/ Stephen Egerton behind the board. You may know him as the guitarist for the Descendents and ALL. Kent from StillOk records hooked us up with him and the results are killer! Anyway we knocked out 3 new tracks towards our next release due out in spring or early summer 2005.
