Now up on this website is our cover of "Late" by the Spinto Band, which we recorded for a planned comp of PTV bands doing covers of one another.  Hopefully that'll still come out one day, but in the meantime here's our non-peppy rendition.

Enjoy the heck out of it!

Oh yeah, so National Eye completed another album several weeks ago.  It's called Ramparts and Nick Krill got the mixing all wrapped up in early June and it sounds pretty great and will be a hit at parties everywhere.

I was going to put at least one song up here on the myspace tonight but it turns out I have to go to Kyle Lloyd's house to meet his baby.

I'm not sure when or how Ramparts will "come out."  If it was up to me, you'd already have it in your oily mitts right this moment.  And maybe you do, you rascal.

But whatever happens, it'll be great.  I have faith in the universe.

Songs will be up verysoon.

A special four-person version of our band National Eye will be making a monumental appearance at the Fire tomorrow, Saturday 12/6 at Philadelphia's Fire which is on 4th and Girard.

The Armchairs and Toy Soldiers are also playing and everyone should come including (though not limited to) people under the age of 76.

Also, we got a new cat!

For fans of NE, bears, songs, and ghosts: check out Gretchen Lohse's song that she just put up on her myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/gretchenlohse) "Ursa Ultra" featuring members of our band and sundry other lovely people and also it's a great song for listening to.

Remember how we said that our new album would be available for download on October 14th, 2008?  Well, we weren't just pretending or lying or trying to impress you, we were dead serious.

So please go to Park the Van's website (which is what you'd think plus .com) or iTunes or wherever and get your very own copy of our new great album.

Also, keep up with all that's fun with our blog at nationaleye.com.

See you in outer space!

So, in the interest of progress I took off Ag1 and Juno3.  Just as they were both nearing the million-play mark!

I wish that the good people at this website gave us more songs to put up.  As it is, the NE playlist is now upsettingly dominated by Ricktunes, but by now I'm sure our dearest supporters have become aware of the great pages featuring the latest efforts by the rest of the Eye cast (if not, look here: myspace.com/gianmarcomusic; myspace.com/fromafountain; myspace.com/citiesrednight; jeffreyalanlove.blogspot.com; birdandsword.com).  When the public begins to clamor for more product (clamor, damnit!), I'll wipe a coupla these oldies and newbies and start threading in some great moments from the vast and crazy NE/PP archive.  Or maybe start a new page for such indulgence.

Anystreet, here we go with two brand new tracks from the continuing factory that is the Eyetional Nat.

First off is something called "Last Gold Braid" which was part of a trade-off project Doug and I had going this year where a line from one guy's song would suggest the title for the next guy's.  This particular title came from a song of his called "Milky Mile."  His is inarguably the better song (better title, too), but I'm very fond of this recording we banged out late last winter.  It's about a failed mission by a covert agency: one of the timeless theems in modern song.  (Doug's song that followed this was "The Black Device" which is also extragood.)  Features me on guitar(s), Gretchen on violin, Will on banjo.

Second off is a rough demo of a song called "Eat the Birds."  The song charts out a best guess at the dreamlife of a partially tame beast.  I'm told it's fairly accurate.  A fuller version is on the way, but this exploratory take features me on piano & Gretchen on vocal assist.

Of course, this is all meant to build max hype for the show NE is playing this weekend at Mroom (rhymes with "Vroom!") with Kurt Vile and Tall Firs on Saturday, July 26.  Both these and other new tunes willl be played, as well as selections from the old-but-still-not-out-there record The Farthest Shore.  See ya there, true believers.

As I said I might do, I've zapped up a song from the first days of Nat'leye.  In this case, it's the title track to the album it wasn't on: The Meter Glows, our snazzy first that I would encourage you to buy if it weren't out of print -- although I believe it's available for $.01 from certain internet sellers.

But this song wasn't on that.  For some reason, this song had to stay home.  Until now, that is.  I have a feeling this, along with "Pure Film," will only truly find its way into the public's heart when the weather warms and the skies open up.  If these two songs function as harbingers of that awaited season in the meantime, then all the better.

So here it is: "The Meter Glows" from (oh say about) 2003.  Which makes it older than some babies I know!

We encourage all dreamers of dreams to view the new "trailer" that Jeff Love has created for the ever-expanding Farthest Shore album/project.  It features a snatch of music (sans singing, for maximum clarity) and some exciting movie moments representing elements of The Farthest Shore's narrative in Jeff's wonderful animated-paper style.  It's under the "About Us" section here but may also be seen on Jeff's lively and fun art web-log at www.birdandsword.com.

Check this space soon for more news on The Farthest Shore's sundry tentacles and more news about shows and the like from our weird band.  I've been digging through some ancient-dusty archives and have been toying with the idea of featuring some NE juvenilia (old recordings, in otherwords) just to show the people we weren't always the slick, corporate product we are today.

So that may or may not happen.

In the meantime, please visit Gianmarco Cillli's myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/gianmarcomusic) to find out about his solo album which is really wonderful and called Homely Joys, now available to buy.

Thanks for the laughs, America!!
