Our dear friend Natasha Shneider lost her battle with cancer July 2nd, at 11:11 AM. She was one of the most talented, beautiful, spirited, and honest people we have ever known. Natasha and Alain welcomed us into their home in the winter of 2006 to record and produce our self titled album. The experience left us not just a stronger band, but stronger people. Natasha Shneider is our Rock And Roll Godmother. Though she may no longer be here with us, but she will forever live on in her music.

The Natasha Shneider Memorial Fund has been set up to relieve the burden of Natasha's fight against cancer.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Sure has been a while, hasn't it? Wires On Fire may have been out of the public eye for a while now, but we've not been sleeping. We have been busy recording material for our second full-length album. This extended break from live performances has left us with a plethora of new material, much too much for one album. In addition to the said full-length record, we will release a series of singles, the first of which you will hear very soon.

Take a look at our page for a video of WIRES in the studio made by our good ol' chum Evan Romoff. Evan has also edited a new version of our first video for the song "Million Dollar Maybes" which is also now posted.

The future looks bright. Hope you've got shades.

Yours Truly,

ELW

Our friend Jason Muller made a great film about Los Angeles' music in 2005. It will premire on the big screen this year as part of the Silverlake Film Festival. Here's what Jason had to say about it:

For those of you who don't know, I made a 71 minute documentary film about
the Los Angeles music scene in 2005. Well, it is finally going to be
screened as part of the Silverlake Film Festival 2007!

My intention behind making the film was to document the music scene in
Silverlake / Los Angeles in 2005 as I saw it and how sincere, committed and
genuine all the musicians were. Not to mention how devoted all of them were
to their art, which is not typical of the entertainment business in Los
Angeles. I felt it was a special time in this city to see bands and
musicians that were nice people AND creative artists that pushed the
envelope of music without the usual LA attitude or focus on drugs, money, or
superficial fleeting success. Because I was in a band myself at that time
and was friends with most of the people in the film, I felt I owed it to
myself to document what I felt and saw...so, I did.

I shot the whole thing on a hand held mini DV camera and edited it on
iMovie. The bands/segments include:

THE VACATION
400 BLOWS
MIDNIGHT MOVIES
DANCE DISASTER MOVEMENT
AUTOLUX
GWENDOLYN AND THE GOODTIME GANG
88.9 KXLU (DEMOLISTEN)
THE SHARP EASE
WIRES ON FIRE
MARJORIE FAIR
THE NERVOUS RETURN
KEITH MORRIS (INTERVIEW)

It is going to be a great thrill to see this document on the big screen.
Please join me in this celebration of art/music/freedom.

Before we were Wires On Fire, most of us played in a band called The Fallen that more or less morphed into the band we are now. We put up a myspace page that has our first recordings. Take a look:
