Hi all
We recently entered the NCBC (National Campus Bands Competition) and came a narrow second in our heat. A big thanks to all that came down and cheered, you guys rock.
Also, congratulations to Universal Bean who took out the People's Choice award (which we won last year).

Hallo to all.
Due to a short history lesson received from my sister, I have decided to rename S_Y to 'Glasnost' (or Гла́сность, in the original Russian). For more information on just why I decided this was a good idea, please visit the panacea of knowledge, wikipedia, at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glasnost
If you still don't get it, post comments on our board. (although 'wat' posted one million times will receive its answer in kind). Hell, post comments anyway.
Our dear friend and master sound guy Ryan Berry has secured us some delicious recording time in SAE institute. We are in the middle of recording:
Thanaton Celadon Glasnost Isentropics Blood in the Sink Colours of the Sky
Things are sounding pretty mint: keep your ears peeled and navigate back to this space regularly for Myspace postings of select tracks. Glasnost is particularly fiery, with extra curry, if I say so myself.
A big thanks to Ryan and SAE. We're looking forward to hearing the end result.
Until later, this is Lawrence for Across Mirrors, reporting.

i have been told by numerous fans "i want to sing along with S_Y but i have no idea what you guys are saying!" so in response to such comments i thought i would put them up here. one of the greatest gifts i have received from u guys have been those moments where we "fall into the sea" or "can see myself kissing you" together. that shit is magic and i thank you guys so much for making this ride such an awesome experience. S_Y is definitely the most fun Across Mirrors song for me atm. here are the words S_Y ....Lawrence.... Vincent
Hello again (Hello) Is this puzzling encounter a revisiting of pain? No, you’re free; (You’re free) In the intervening years you’ve learnt to find your balance and learnt to see
You tear the scales from my eyes
In a silhouette of emptiness I finally learn to hold what we owned And now we need no alibis In the truth we find a proof So when you tear this fringe orbit, I’ll still have regret When you tear this fringe orbit, I’ll still have regret When you tear this fringe orbit, I’ll still have regret When you tear this fringe orbit, I’ll still have regret
Time to withdraw the sanctions (withdraw) In elliptical eclipses of a neuron labelled ‘end’ I’ll take my liberties in this (in this revision) Revision of those taken in the gaps that I tried to mend
I suppose they’ve written words
In little books we all have read A thread of yarn is insincere Eclipsed by tapestries of red
Take comfort that somewhere The black hole of confusion’s vestibule has closed Take comfort that somewhere The black hole of confusion’s vestibule has closed
Love you guys, cya at NCBC

Hallo again We've uploaded most of our tracks onto triple j unearthed (http://triplejunearthed.com/Artists/View.aspx?artistid=24730) and they're doing really well, thanks to our fans! But there's a way to go yet. Celadon has ousted Lizards for number 38, and Void is at number 50 on the overall charts. If you haven't logged on to rate up-and-coming Aussie bands, you're missing out! If you log on you can rate our songs and contribute to their movement in the charts (and make us very happy ). if you're feeling particulary energetic, you can review any or all of our songs. I like NinjArmadillo's review and its Jane-Austen reference. So please go check it out, and what's more, you can download the songs to listen to at your leisure! Thanks crew, things are getting exciting, and although we're heading for exams, and then Tris is gallavanting off to Europe, and then Dave to Rwanda (!), we're hoping to play more shows around and about, meet more excellent bands (isn't it strange that there are so many good bands in Perth?) and POSSIBLY hit the studios later this year with the view to recording an album...... mmmmmm...... So yes. If you've already rated, it's a once-per-IP-address deal, so you can't vote again, but if you haven't yet, please do. Thanks! Lawrence from Across Mirrors

Hello again
It's that time of year again, and the WAMis are coming up. As part of the WAMi festival, a Triple J Unearthed winner gets to play alongside the great Perth bands Sugar Army and Karnivool at the Rosemount.
This would be a dream come true for us, so if you feel like making our day, please go to www.triplejunearthed.com and rate our track 'Lizards'. It'll only take a minute, and you can download the track as well. It's a great resource for discovering new bands in loads of genres.
Currently, we're number 16 on the Rock chart and number 38 on the overall charts, so please rate us! We're dreamers and we have our sights set high. Every vote counts.
If you're wondering just who we are, there are a whole bunch of amateur videos on YouTube you can check out to get an idea of what we look like.
Lizards: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPect3RM7pc
Celadon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITeEZVIn1b4&feature=channel_page
The Beetle Has Led You To The Desert To Die: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p83sJa31lhE&feature=channel_page
You can find all our videos via these links. Quite a few of them are brand new and we don't have any recordings of them other than these videos.
If you want to know more, or just have a chat, please get in touch.

Hallo one and all,
We're all still on a bit of a high after the EP launch last Friday 17th April. A MASSIVE thanks go out to Io, December Seven and Orogeny who were all a pleasure to watch. Another massive thanks go out to all the people that came, friends and fans alike - you made the night very special for us, even if we didn't get to say hello in person. We hope everyone enjoyed the cucumber sandwiches - we made over 300 and there were only ten left over at 2am, so well done. There are a lot of thanks to give, so apologies if you don't think you're high enough in the list - this is in no particular order: Reuben and Doris for sound and lights (lasers + smoke = awesome), Wayne for pretty much everything, cheers dude, Bec for (wo)manning the merch table, Maciej for printing the awesome tees, Ben for the EP artwork, Spanish for good ol' fashioned AM-love, and everyone who rated our song 'Lizards' on Triple J Unearthed - we entered the overall charts at number 38!!
Speaking of which, if you like what you hear, you can go to triplejunearthed.com and rate that very song! Go on, it'll take less than a minute, and you can download it as well!
We sold quite a few EPs and Tshirts, but never fear, there are LOADS left over, we'll be putting up some sort of purchasing mechanism shortly. If you just can't wait, send us a MySpace message and we'll fix you up.
If you missed the launch but like the music, we're playing Wednesday nights at The Castle in May if you're free. Further details will be on the MySpace.
Thanks again to everyone who made Friday a night to remember.
Lawrence from Across Mirrors.

Hello mirror people, As you may well be aware, we had our non-ep launch on Friday 23rd. It went excellently, and we had the chance to air our two newest songs, Life As A Love Wave and The Beetle Has Led You To The Desert To Die (which, incidentally, if you enjoyed, I should suggest you read The Drowned World by J.G. Ballard, and The Woman In The Dunes by Kobo Abe). We really hope you enjoyed that night as much as we did, despite feedback issues from the mics, and the mic dying in the middle of The Beetle, which was a bit of a downer. On a positive note, the new PA system at the Castle was brilliant, and really showed off Io and December Seven (Thanks guys again for supporting us. You were awesome). So, new gigs coming up soon, and hopefully we'll keep you posted. Street team volunteers desired to help put up posters for upcoming gigs. If interested, willing, and able, please get in touch. Hell, get in touch anyway. Signing off. Take care as always Lawrence from Across Mirrors

Hi guys... really sorry to pass this on, but due to circumstances beyond our control, the EP is not yet pressed. This doesn't mean we won't still be playing this Friday, we just don't have anything to sell. Unfortunately, it seems The Man has had control over the CD printers for a while to cram their ware into the stores for Christmas, and we got bumped right down the list. I don't have to tell you that this isn't the best state of affars for us. I can GUARANTEE that the actual launch will be awesome. Expect more details very soon, but it will likely be a Friday in a couple of weeks. Thanks for being patient. It's a technical problem that we can't do anything about. We appreciate your understanding. Lawrence from Across Mirrors

So, our EP is being mixed as we speak, and will be in our hot little hands at least by the 23rd of Jan (if not sooner). Lawrence already talked about the recording process, so my intense hatred of redundancy forces me to move on. We've decided to call it Light Mistaken after a lyric in one of the featured songs (not too hard to guess which), and our good friend Ben from another awesome band (Io, for those not in the know) offered his talents as an artiste. after a couple of ideas pitched by Lawrence, Ben was inspired, and came up with a design we are all pretty ecstatic with. Check it out. Note the owl-cat who we've christened Hooty Meowington. Expect to see more of him. Across Mirrors (specifically, Kev)

Halllo one and all
Yesterday marked the first time in a studio for Across Mirrors. Tucked away in an industrial area in Bayswater, Adrian helped us put to hard drive Void, Lizards and Celadon (the demos of which are all on the MySpace, as you are doubtless aware). I know it's me saying it, but they sound AWESOME. If you like heavy music, and you like supporting local acts, you really should buy our EP. The launch will be in December at some stage.
The recording itself was a lot of fun, and took care of itself basically. We did two takes for each song, and the second was the keeper each time. Kevin indulged himself by recording his guitar part three times in Celadon - swapping guitars, amps, effects, to get different sounds. I have to admit, I think it worked and makes a wall of distortion that is punchy as hell.
The solo section in Lizards was interesting - when you get your hands on the EP, check out the yoyo solo after Kevin's epic math-stadium-shred-fest. Omar would be so proud.
Dave thought he wouldn;t be recording vocals, but seeing as we're so awesome and did all the tracks and overdubs, he had to. In his credit, he tore through it, using one take for each song. The scream at the end of Void could peel the skin off a ham.
So we're going into exams at the moment, but afterwards, you should see things ramping up a couple of notches. If you want to hear more of our stories, catch up with us after a show or whatever. More details in December.
Across Mirrors signing out.
