COPS & ROBBERS(Chicago) Potty Mouth Music
aka Santiago & Bushido + Justin Long

Santiago & Bushido Bio: With their blend of big basslines and vocals, Santiago & Bushido are a filthy addition the Potty Mouth Music roster. Since teaming up as a production duo in 2001, Chris Santiago and Tim Bushido have elevated the art of electronic jack to encompass many influences, from the hard hitting to the deep and soulful.

At the core of Santiago & BushidoÕs sound lays the forward thinking, funk-tech that has given them critical moxie in Chicago and beyond. As products of the mid Õ90s rave scene, the DJ/producers grew up immersed in a community that they would soon become their professional careers. Bushido picked up djing at an early age and got deep into the art of production. Experimenting with hip hop at the start, he slowly ebbed into house production, thanks in part to his work at Chicago Recording Company. Sharing the same recording space with the likes of R.Kelly and Smashing Pumpkins, Bushido honed his engineering and production prowess until opportunity knocked.

While Bushido was mastering his craft, Santiago was working his way up the ChicagoÕs nightlife hierarchy. Within one year of playing live gigs, he secured a Friday night residency at Zentra Nightclub. The renowned ÒJack FridaysÓ have continued to attract underground house crowds for more than six years, with crowds still going off weekly. SantiagoÕs presence in the Chicago house community reaches even further with his involvement in the House Arrest promotion group, which continues to host some of the sceneÕs most well attended parties.

As producers, Santiago & Bushido draw influences from their straight house background and apply harder and heavier elements to the sound. ÒWe get really deep into the tracks weÕre producing, flip them and cut them in so many different ways, all to get the heaviest groove possible,Ó Bushido says. Since collaborating, they have dropped numerous EPÕs and remixes on some of House MusicÕs most well respected label including Robsoul, Control Recordings and Black Cherry, to name a few. The duoÕs smash release ÒWhat Your Name?Ó on Robsoul continues to enjoy heavy rotation on the global house scene.

In addition to their Potty Mouth debut, the duo recently finished work on ColetteÕs new album ÒPushÓ, slated for August release on OM Records. They wrote and produced the albumÕs second slotted single, ÒIf,Ó which they also remixed for a separate release. Already generating a buzz in the house community, ÒIfÓ also features its own music video which will align with the release.

Santiago & BushidoÕs recent inclusion in the Potty Mouth family aligns with the duoÕs production and performance philosophies. ÒOne thing about us is weÕre not afraid to do a deep track or a totally hardcore trackÉas long as it works on the dance floor and is pushing the sound forward, it works for us.Ó Given the tech-funk inflection of their forthcoming release, the nastier the duo delves, the better they beat.

Justin Long Bio: Justin Long, one of Chicagoâs house music pioneers, began DJing at the young age of 15. His early musical influences ranged from Joy Division and Depeche Mode to the Sex Pistols. In 1988, Justin discovered house music on WBMX radio, which directed him into the world of house music where he has helped shape the Chicago House sound into what it is today. During the past 15 years, Justin has accomplished more than most could imagine in the house music industry. In the early 90âs, Justin began DJing at underground events throughout the Midwest with the likes of Derrick Carter, Cajmere and Traxx. Soon thereafter, more gigs followed and Justinâs name became synonymous with Chicago House music.

In 1999, Justin was the founding DJ on Chicagoâs Q101 Sonic Boom Radio; one of the longest running mix shows in the United States and is now preparing to start .dotbleep radion on xm radios the move. While touring for the past nine years, Justin has made frequent visits throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe, including repeat visits to headline UK venues such as Back to Basics, Sub Club, Fabric and Circus. In addition, Justin has made countless guest appearances and held residencies in Chicagoâs best nightclubs such as Red Dog, 112 Green Street, Karma, Slickâs Lounge, Mamby and Zentra.

Currently, Justin hosts a monthly residency at SmartBar which is one of Chicagoâs premier house events entitled .Dotbleep. In the studio, Justin is working closely with Dan X under the moniker "No Assembly Firm". Together, Justin and Dan have completed over two dozen projects including original and remix work for highly acclaimed record labels such as Classic, Music For Freaks, Junior Boys Own, Aroma, Cajual, Robsoul, Greens Keepers Music and many more. Justin and Dan perform together frequently, headlining venues across the globe.

These sounds and performances have captured a cult following and can be heard in regular rotation worldwide on "The Move" on XM radio. Along with performing and producing, Justin works in conjunction with 20:20 Vision to run his own record label, .Dotbleep Recordings which features artists such as: Derrick Carter, Natural Rhythm, Sawtooth Sucka, Trade Marq and Phil Weeks. In itâs early stages, .Dotbleep has drawn quite a bit of attention and looks to follow itâs Chicago successors, Cajual and Classic. Justin continues to push the boundaries of house music, while constantly refining himself as an artist.

POTTY MOUTH MUSIC (Chicago): www.pottymouthmusic.com

Screw soap the mouth; the brand of jack that defines Chicago's new-school house sound gets a tech-heavy makeover from the talent roster of Potty Mouth Music. Inspired by the dirty glitch twists of fidget house producers such as Switch, Trevor Loveys and Jesse Rose, Potty Mouth ditches conventional house boundaries, imploring turntable trickery, unconventional loops and straight up techno into its catalogue of tracks. Chicago-based label head James Amato keeps house-heavy influences in place and lacing them with the kind of dirty glitch that makes it feel so good to be so bad. Potty Mouth's artists include The Crookers (Italy), Santiago & Bushido (Chicago), HiJack (England), DJ Fame (New York), The Bulgarian (England), HeavyFeet (UK), Cops & Robbers (Chicago), Electric Soulside (Belgium), Andy George (UK), Scott Cooper (UK), MightFools (Netherlands), Adam Bozzetto (Australia) + Many more coming soon!
