(another found review excerpt - this time it's DJ Rick from KDVS talking about the Oct. 3rd Mick Mucus birthday show in Davis.  See, we weren't lying about how tiny the room was!)

-------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------

"One quasi-problem with that little shack is that it is just a 9x14 room, so it is way too loud for a lotta people. So, for a lotta folks, the most enjoyable place is watching from just outside the window. The place is so poorly soundproofed....I suppose it actually does sound better outside the window than inside the room. So there were dozens of people crowded around the window.

"The next band was
Knifethruhead....a fairly whimsical gore-grind band that dress up ridiculously and have a sax player, too. They make frustrating records...like, they might just put a really straight soft-rock cover on the b-side of an otherwise ripping record.

But everyone should try to see 'em live at least once because they are a spectacle for sure. All the Pyrate[Punk]s packed in for them, and things got outta hand. Some dude pounded on the window with his fist, and of course, it broke. The band kept ragin', it was way past 10:00 (the moment that Davis PD begins to enforce the noise ordinance very strictly), so the cops were pretty quick to come soon after that."

...this time from a journal entry entitled "yeah, i've got that. (new reviews)" by last.fm user "logbut", Sept. 27th 2008:

Knife Thru Head / Slapendehonden - split 7": generic grind from both bands. boring as hell. i now have a new coaster. sweet cover art though...at least on the Knife Thru Head side.

excerpted from a blog by Shawna Yang Ryan:

"...The night was capped off at a Sacramento punk band's show in downtown Oakland. I suppose it was a sort of performance art too, since there was
1) a man in jogging shorts, knee high socks and converse, wearing a Bill Clinton mask and playing the sax
2) the aforementioned big-bellied, skinny-legged guy with the full beard, wearing nothing but a G-string and a pink knit ski cap with bunny ears. He was the lead singer, who offered a free record to the first girl to get up on stage and simulate fellatio on the rubber penis that was mounted on a canvas painted with the band name (knifeinthehead). There was no hesitation--a girl tore off her sweatshirt and jumped up enthusiastically. It was a bit disturbing.
3) another man in a g-string with a Mexican wrestling mask.
4) another man in a g-string with fangs.
5) another man wearing a costume of his own devising involving a skull-alien mask, a motorcycle helmet with a long flashing green tube hanging off the back, striped nylons and arm warmers, and a giant black plastic penis."
