What's good people. Sorry its been a minute since I updated my blog. Let's begin with what is finished. The Emilio Rojas and MPhazes album titled "Phaze One" is finally finished. Well the mixing is finished. MPhazes is actually in town from Australia. He has spent countless hours with me in the studio putting the final touches on the mixes. The end result I believe is a classic and I'm very fortunate to be working on such a great album. Second, Donny Goines debut album is getting into the mixing stages. Again, I feel very lucky to be working on this cause if you don't know, you will, Donny is the hardest working artist in my opinion. I'm sure some won't agree but this guy did everything with nobodys help and that's how I know he will come out on top. Again, another classic. Now to some big news, I have officially been asked to engineer the new yet untitled album for Capital recording artist Mims. This past week was the first of many recording days so I will keep everyone updated. The new studio has been a blessing. Since its opening we have been booked nonstop and we have had lots of walkthroughs by both indie artists and industry folk alike. The response from the moment they walk in is extremely positive and I can only see it getting better. So enough typing so I can get back to my session. Look out for my next Chronicles of an Engineer entry on hiphopgame.com coming soon. On that note peace and happy recordings.

Okay, this is my 3rd entry from down in the Bahamas. I decided to wake up early today even though we had a long night and take a walk along the beach. Yes i'm sure you all feel bad but if i don't do it early in the morning it won't happen later. So another productive day. Today we recorded guitars, vocals, and congas. Tomorrow we have a horn section coming in, and Static is gonna start on another track but this time from scratch, with probably just drums, a melody and we have access to all the musicians we need so it should be fun. Anyways, till tomorrow peace and happy recordings....lata.

Whats good. So i'm writing my second entry to this blog while i'm down here in the Bahamas. I'm now waiting for one of the guys in the group to come and lay down some Timbalies. I'm on my 10th hour here at the studio. Ok just stepped away for a second. Got some Timbali takes. All i have to say is OMG!!!!!!! I'm about to start the second song. Ok, just finished the second song which is the one for Disney.....oh my god. Its sooooo sick. I'm amazed....i might give up and get a 9-5.....just kidding....anyways, for a room mic (cause the room sounds amazing), i used a Nuemann TLM 103 through an API 3124 into a distressor and crushed it. For the actually Timbali's, i used the AKG's MPA III's. These little guys are amazing. Since in the Bahamas they record alot of percussion, i was highly recommended to used these. And these were run through the same mic pre's through the Summit DCL 200 dual copmressor. Okay i'm just wrapping up this rough mix. Static and I had a long ass day. So till tomorrow, peace and happy recordings.

So today was the first session in the Bahamas with the Baha Men. I don't have too much time to talk about it but we did a 10 hour day of tracking, and we just did a smash for Disney records for a single. This is gonna be huge. I just got done with a rough mix and and recorded acoustic guitars on the bridge. It came out crazy. Live room sounds great. I was at this studio last year tracking and mixing Baha Men. This studio is co-owned by famed mixer Jon Gass. If you don't know him google him. I Also am documenting this on video so i will share that with everyone soon. Its an amazing exprerience. Since i'm sure i will be asked what i used on the guitars, i used a John Hardy preamp on the lead guitar through a Summit DCL 200 and a API 3124 pre through the same Summit. Vocals were a Vintech X73 which i love! through the same Summit. Yes i love the Summit. Anyways, Till tomorrow i will keep everyone updated. Something big i forgot to mention, of course Static did the track but we got our good friends Kel Spencer and Flow Blitz to write the song. If you don't know who they are google them. They had written big hits. Anyways, till tomorrow. Peace and happy recordings.

Hey whats good my good people. I just had to post this at the last minute. Its gonna be short and to the point. I just saw a movie today that i think everyone should go and check out. Its called "The Wackness". If you are like me and grew up in the era of A Tribe Called Quest, Jeru the Damaja, the Wu, Biggie, etc, you must check out this flick. Its an indie film which takes place in the summer of 1994....yes i'm sure some of you can remember that cause i know I can! I was in 11th grade and causing trouble but always made sure i had good music playing. Google the movie, find out where its playing near you and check it out. On that note, peace, love and happy recordings....i'm out!

Hey whats good people. Just wanted to write a little something about this past weekend. I had the privilage of speaking on the "Audio Fidelity" panel alongside Ryan West, Duro, Howie Weinberg, Mike Chav, and DJ Johnny Juice. It was a very informative discussion and I hope whoever had a chance to see it got something out of it. Aside from that panel i had a chance to sit in on a few others which were also great. I don't want to bore you too much with this but i had to write something. All in all, it was one of the best weekends i've had in a while. I got to hang out with some old friends and made alot of new ones. A big thanks goes out to Don DiNapoli for helping make that happen. Peace and happy recordings to all.
