Singer and activist Otep Shamaya shares her feelings about meeting the Youth of Hetrick-Martin ...

"I remember sitting with the young people of Hetrick-Martin, listening to their questions, answering the best I could, and seeing my own reflection in their eyes, in their fears, their frustrations, in their anger, and in their hope.

There are many moments knotted on the thread of life, but this is one that I will remember forever."

OTEP Nation,

Your response to the song "UR A WMN NOW" has been incredibly supportive.

We hear from people everyday stating how inspirational and empowered this song makes them feel.

The 3rd verse of "UR A WMN NOW" was written about Otep's childhood & the incredible obstacles her single mother overcame.

Are you a parent? Or a child of a single parent?
If so, does this song speak to you?

Share your story with us.

Maybe it will inspire others as this song has inspired you.

For some, the music & message of OTEP is a pummeling assault to the senses. It makes perfect gym music OR is just something to pound a beer & head-bang to ....... rad.

But for others, the music & message reach deeper.

Has OTEP's music helped you in some way?

If so, please share your story with us.

Maybe you can inspire others the way OTEP's music has inspired you.

Thank you.

Otep Shamaya writes from the road ....

Another slow slide across the American plains. Moving like magma, reshaping the cerebral landscape.

The expanding islands we leave in our wake will either sink back into the soft frothy foam or propagate a fertile new world from the strength of what was once a barren & jagged terrain.

My Fellow Degenerates,

I am always bombarded by people who are new to the band telling me just how amazingly passionate and motivated our supporters and fans are.

It's not a surprise to me.

In you I see some of the most intelligent, inspired people on the planet.

This is why I choose to share this with you now.

I am working with the Hetrick-Martin Institute to educate people on the incredible work they do helping "at-risk" teens in the LGBT community.

Some of you may not understand and that's fine.

But for those that do, please give a moment of your time & check out the wonderful work they do:

Thank you.
