Current mood:Jolly.

One thing that I have found on my personal journey on a fruit diet, is that the more I travel along the fruity path, the less I seem to need to eat to maintain both my vitality and my energy requirements.

When I first started out on a fruit diet, I found that I needed to eat quite a bit of fruit and also the more concentrated raw foods such as Avocados and dried fruit to feel comfortable and  to maintain my body weight.

I have great faith in the body and its great inherent knowlege and wisdom, inspite of what us humans may do to it!

Therefore I guess that my body always knew what it was doing and maybe there was a need for more fruit to stabilise or slow the rate of elimination as I first adopted a fruit diet. Also I believe that my body could have needed more fruit as I was not necessarily assimilating at an optimum rate, because I still had some internal intestinal cleansing to do.

I also strongly believe that the body has an optimum weight. This weight may vary depending on age and body type. Also for an individual their optimum weight may change at various times in their lifetime to reflect different stages in their lives.

When many people first start out on a fruit diet, they may find that they loose weight. This seems to be a concern for those of us who are already lean and do not particularly want to loose any more kilos.

However , I believe that the body does really know what it is doing (as long as it is given the right environment in which to heal and cleanse). So we may loose weight as part of the body's clearing out and general house cleaning.

I do believe that as long as we have a positive attitude and we are feeding our bodies with great quality raw fresh fruit, then we will never starve or go below a weight that is dangerous for our health. As I think I may have mentioned before .The body really does know what it is doing.

The real turn about in cleansing and assimilation came for me, personally, after I finished a 52 day Orange Juice mono diet. I had not intentionally embarked on this diet to improve my assimilation of fruit. But after I had finished the mono diet, I just felt how fruit was doing me so much more good.

It was not something that I thought about consciously, it was more of a feeling ; something that I experienced deep inside.

After my mono diet, I found that I needed to eat so much less fruit, and especially the more concentrated forms of fruit, to maintain my weight.

I think that I may say that the less I eat, then the more energy that I have and the better I feel.

This only really kicked in for me after my cleansing experience on Orange Juice and the cleansing period may be different for each of us; the mills of the gods do indeed grind slowly; but the cleansing period is exactly that- a period.

It does not last forever, and those that have been on a fruit diet for a while find that as the elimination ceases then so comes upon them the most wonderful energy and endurance. Arnold Ehret was a real pioneer in his views that what we eat does not give us energy, rather the removal of blockages does.

I know, personally, that I have the most endurance and the most energy when I eat lightly or I am on a juice or mono diet.

When we eat more than our body really needs to function at its optimum, then we have less energy as our vital forces are needed for digestion and to deal with the excess of food. Fruit may be less taxing on the system than other foodstuffs, but an excess of it still makes for less than optimum health.

When we first start on a fruit diet, we may need to eat more fruit, simply to ensure that we do not eliminate too much or to make sure that we do not feel 'hungry' and therefore  are tempted to eat foods other than fruit.

This whole fruit diet, is such a continual learning thing, and I still enjoy discovering new things every day.

One thing however that seems to be common to all the long lived societies of this world is that they ate far less than the people in many modern Western societies.

So maybe eat less.. but keep growing!!!

Current mood:Juiceful.

40 days and nights on Orange Juice and what a magical experience.

Each day was a pleasure to live; as I felt my body full of life and vitality and the blockages went away.

Arnold Ehret was so true in his equation "V=P-O"

I felt greater flexibility in all joints, muscles felt free and lacked stiffness or aches.

My pulse was low 54, by blood pressure was also low 81/45.

I felt new, clean, light and happy.

Being on Orange juice makes me want to sing.

It is the Magical, golden elixir of the gods but accessable to every woman and man.

I felt very in tune with Arnold Ehre’s teachings, when I was on my juice. I have read what he says many times but actually living his words is even better.

I have complete faith that anyone and anybody can  regain wonderful health if they apply the natural laws to their life.

Orange juice can help anybody to heal, rich or poor, young or old, a raw fooder or a SAD eater. It is a pure and Universal Truth available to all.

Organic Oranges are widely available and as they contain so much more vitality than conventionally grown Oranges, less are needed so they are not financially more costly.

We all have the potential to be truly healthy and vibrant; whether we choose to obtain this state is really up to us; but once we have tasted true health it is not easily forgotten.

Some benifits that I noticed whilst juicefesting:

Increased colour vision(especially reds and greens)

Great and peaceful sleep

Wonderful Dreams

Increased Range of Movement in joints

Better functionong of muscles

The desire to sing a lot!

Lack of tiredness

Great vitality.

Juice festing is not exclusive, it is there for all.

One does not need an expensive juicer, a hand one is just fine.

One needs no expensive supplements; only good quality preferably Organic Oranges.

One can start today!

I wish you all the very best of health and happiness.

Love and peace,

Current mood:Juice Fasting

I have always ben an admirer of the works of Arnold Ehret. Ever since I first read his 'Mucusless Diet Healing System', I was hooked.

Maybe it is because his words are ageless and the simple, yet profound, truths that he writes about are as relevant today as the day they were written.

It is one thing to read something, but another entirely to live it.

For the last 28 days I have been on an Orange Juice Fest, consuming only Orange juice.

I feel so good and fine and my body is working in the most amazing ways.

Colour vision is improved, with reds and greens appearing almost luminous.

Sleep is deep, untroubled and precious.

Muscles move fluidly, without effort and I feel so Alive.

I thank Arnold Ehret for his equation, that I feel is now so relevant to the way that I feel.

Arnold Ehret's Formula of Life

The Secret of Vitality.

'V'='P'-'O'.

'V'= Vitality

'P'=Power, that drives the human machinery.

'O'=Obstruction.

So the more wastes and toxins we have in our bodies, then the more Obstruction we have.

When the Obstruction becomes more than the Power, then our bodies will come to a standstill.

However, when we cleanse and the Obstruction is removed, then, oh joy, the Power just increases and so does the Vitality.

I have strength now, and it is strength due to the removal of Obstructions or toxins, and my Vitality is raised to new dazzling levels.

So simple , so true.

If the best things in life are free, then the wisest things are also the simplest . They do not need to be complicated because simple health truths follow the simple , yet logical laws of Nature.

Everyone can understand and true health is also within everyone's grasp.

I learnt so many equations at school, that I have never had recourse to use , even once, in my life.

And yet if only I had been taught this simple health equation.

Life can be the most wonderful health trip, the maths are simple and we all have the potential to get the right answer.

Have beautiful, healthy days,

love, light, peace and power,

Current mood:Juicy.

Today there seems to be much debate as to what defines the term 'fasting'.

Some feel that  taking only water is the only true form of fasting. Others do not even take water when they fast; this is known as a 'dry' fast.

Others have written books about juice fasting and have got great results from what they term a juice fast.

Many people who  consider that a water fast is the only proper definition say that a  juice fast is a misnomer and juice fasters should call their fasting a mono-diet or a juice diet. They believe that the term fasting is being used incorrectly.

As I wrote earlier on my 'Absolutely...Not!' blog , I have difficulties with labels and absolutes. To me we can waste our time and energies getting bothered by nomenclatures. Surely what really matters is our actions and the results that we get from these actions. If someone gets really great results from a juice diet; does it really matter, in the grand scheme of things, if they call what they are doing a 'fast' or a 'mono-diet' ? Surely it is the 'doing' that matters and what they achieve by it.

Who or what is going to be harmed whether we term a juice diet 'fasting' or not.

To me there is real suffering in the world; animals are slaughtered in their millions every day, millions of trees are felled for human greed, thousands of tonnes of toxins are released into our waterways and  into our atmosphere.

Whereas, I do not see what really is the 'big deal' over fasting terms. If someone wants to take juice alone, they will regardless of what anybody else terms this regime.

Are our actions defined by what language terms we use? Surely it is the feelings and emotions that we put onto words that give them their true meaning and value.

Certainly language is a vital tool in our lives and lets us communicate with each other and pass on important information.

However, language is only one aspect of human communication and we all communicate and react with each other on a multitude of subtle levels.

As Shakespeare so beautifully put it  "A Rose by any other Name Would Smell as Sweet."

I think that this man was not only a great wordsmith but very wise.

Whether we call a rose a 'rose' or a 'turd' it still smells and looks divine. Whether we call a juice diet a 'fast' or a 'mono-diet' it still cleanses and gives us health. Our bodies will gain the same joy and benefits from the juice whatever name we put to our regime.

I really have faith in the saying 'Actions speak louder than Words'.

Let us not loose energy over labels that in the long run cannot change our world the way actions can.

Have beautiful days and lucious fruits.

Love and Peace,

                   Remembering Jill Phipps.

Twelve years ago today, Jill Phipps died whilst trying to stop the export of veal calves, from Coventry Airport.

Jill died under the wheels of a lorry as she protested about days old calves being driven into Coventry Airport to be flown abroad.

Jill devoted her life to try and stop all forms of animal  abuse and cruelty.

She spent days and nights demonstrating at the airport, rain or shine.

Jill's life was one where she put other creatures first, before her own personal comfort.

In today's Society putting one's self first is often the norm and making money and profit at anybody's or any creature's expense is sadly, for some, an acceptable doctrine.

Jill shone out as a beacon, in a World where suffering for profit is viewed as acceptable.

She stood out as she put others before herself ; a rare and honourable woman.

Jill was not only beautiful inside, but that lovely soul radiated out from within and her smile was one of the most beautiful I have seen.

On this day many people who have been touched by Jill's compassion take time to remember her and her brave selflessness.

Jill lives on, not only in the son she left behind, but because her life and actions have affected many animals and people and this World is a better place for knowing a soul such as hers.

This day is the anniversary of the day that Jill died but every single day of the year gives us an opportunity to live, like Jill did, a compassionate  and caring life.

               Rest Peacefully Beautiful Jill.

                    Jill Phipps 1964-1995.

Humans are not alone in their love of fruit. Many fruits, especially berries, are not particularly desired by their parent plant for human consumption.

Deadly Nightshade is one example of a fruit that contains toxins that are not friendly to humans. However the berries are enjoyed by certain birds, who are not negatively affected by the Nightshade toxins.

I tend to think that the birds will be more effective dispersers of some small seeds and that the plant prefers them as distributors, rather than larger mammals.

The plant may then survive better if its fruit is poisonous to mammals.

One of the great joys of life, for me, is watching birds and animals enjoy fruits. Sharing with them is lovely too.

The cat we live with loves his avocado and always shares with me, he even tries to bat the avocado from my hand if I am not sharing quickly enough for him. The magpies like to come and share fruit with us too. They are so trusting when they hop up close and eyeball you.

I always think fruit taste so much nicer, when it is shared.

Like humans other animals play a huge role in the spreading of fruit seeds. Fruitbats are also responsible for pollenating many fruit species, including the mighty Durian.

I am intrigued that when we leave avocado on our outside deck, for our visiting Possum; she leaves all the skin behind (complete with really cute nibble marks right next to the skin). However the stone disappears. Well she could not have rolled it over the edge of the deck as there is a 5 inch wooden border round the deck (to stop the cat rolling off!).

I look for the seed, but cannot see it any where. I doubt she has  a mouth and throat big enough to swallowed it, judging by her dainty bite marks on the skin.

So what happened to the seed?

Did she throw it away, carry it with her, play with it?

I guess that she could have eaten it all ,little by little.

Fruit eating therefore is a very symbiotic relationship between animals and plants. They both benefit; neither one gains to the other's detriment.

The animal gets fed...the seeds get spread....the fruit grows....the animal gets fed...the seeds get spread... and so on.

All this has been happily carrying on for millions of years.

How recent is the farming of animals or the growing of vast fields of cereals. How do either of these benefit plants or other animals?

I feel that humans  may have lost sight of the fact that we are only one small cog in the vast workings of the world. We have done our best to throw several spanners into the works. The world was very much in balance thousands of years ago. A balanced planet is generally a happy one.

But when one species tends to put itself in a position of domination, rather than symbiosis, then there will be huge environmental and spiritual imbalances.

A fruit diet can help rebalance our planet. Especially if one eats wild or organically grown fruit. Also fruit growing , the spreading of fruit seeds and the composting of fruit scraps are all vital rebalancers.

We  Love  Fruit....We  Love Our Planet.

Let there be Love and Fruit sharing and Fruit growing ; all working towards a re-balancing of our planet.

Love and Peace,

from Anne XX.

Current mood:Thankful

Personally, I am not a great fan of absolutes.

I am on a fruit diet and I eat fruit and feel great on it.

However, I find it a bit challenging when one starts to define a 'fruitarian' using absolutist terms.

I feel that if we have very strong definitions, then this may not always be what is always best for the individual.

One may be on a fruit diet with access to really superb quality fruit; organic, home grown and wild. This diet may then meet the needs splendidly of one's body.

However someone else may have limited access to great quality fruit but have access to great greens or veggies. Their body may benefit therefore from having some greens in their daily diet. I am not implying that one cannot exist on a pure fruit diet, I do and I also think that fruit is the ultimate food for humans.

I do believe however that  we also need listen to our body's needs and not only to what we perceive, in our heads, as the ideal diet .

If we have ideas set in stone, then we may remain closed to other things. We may be ideal fruitarians but fruitarians living in an less than ideal world.

I feel sad when fruit lovers seem to 'fall out' because they are not in 100% accord with each other. We are all individuals and what works for one may not work for another. That, to me, does not mean that one person is 'right' and one person is 'wrong', just that we are all at different places in our lives. With different wants and needs.

For me life is all about openess to others and respect and love.

I really strive to be non-judgemental, as I believe that the quote; "He who is without sin cast the first stone" is so true. To me, we are all learning and that is part of what makes life so enjoyable; learning and triumphing over our challenges.

When we start judging others fruit or raw diets, then we may become closed, judgemental and disrespectful. For me this is the opposite of what I long for with a fruity diet .

Shakespeare once said: " A rose by any other name would smell as sweet."

So when we start to put labels and classifications on our diets, then we may loose our openess and also our freedom.

Is someone any less of a 'fruitarian' because they eat nuts and greens occasionally? How can we judge what is best for anyone else other than ourselves.

I feel we need to focus on what is the best for ourselves right at this moment. We are fluid creatures permanently in a state of movement and change.

Our wants and needs differ from day to day.

We may desire cherries one day, oranges the next.

Fruit lovers are loosing friends because of disagreements on classifications; loosing sight of the fact that  we have so, so, many shared loves and goals.

This path to fruity joy is a wonderful experience; but also equally important for me is to tread this path with courtesy and respect for the others I meet upon it, whatever dietary differences we may have.

Love, peace and the Best New Year to you,

Love from Anne XXX.

Current mood:Happy.

For myself, one of the aspects of my life that has been greatly enhanced by a fruit diet is the joyous feeling of really enjoying the present moment.

I feel that I am experiencing the best of times right now.

Walking past a Frangipani tree and smelling the most beautiful air as I pass by; running along the briny beach; stroking a kitten; sharing fruit with the magpies; snuggling up with baby and cat.

All these things are so precious and give me the feeling of utter contentment.

What if life doesn't get any better than this?

I don't care!

It is all so beautiful and perfect and I feel that I do not need any more.

The sunshine on my face; the sea air in my lungs- I do not want for more. I am loving these beautiful and fulfiling moments just as they happen.

They feel like priceless treasures. It seems to me that the best things in life are free.

No expensive perfume comes close to the scent of the Frangipani tree.

No material object can give me as much pleasure as stroking a loved cat or spending time with a loved child.

No front seat at a concent can compare with Cappi singing me a made up song .

No flash car can compete with a long walk.

Sure, I feel very grateful for a lovely house to live in and the financial resources to buy great quality fruit.

But I do not feel that there are any future pleasures I could pay for that can beat how wonderful the here and now can be.

I attribute a lot of this to feeling great physically, mentally and spiritually on a fruit diet.

I feel good and clean on all levels and my need for material things seems to drop away.

When one's body cleanses from inside, I find there is not the same need for deoderants, fancy perfumes and soaps.

One does not need so many material objects to distract from internal discomfort or irritation as there is a peace and harmony within.

Each day is very special and too precious to feel less than wonderful.

If we can realise 'Paradise' is an every day possibility, we can live and relish the 'now' instead of waiting for our lives to 'Get Better'.

I am not holding my breath waiting for the future , I am breathing the fantastic air of Today!

I am not on a fruit diet to live to a great age. I am on a fruit diet to be as heathy as I can be so I can really enjoy each day as it comes.

Love and peace,

Current mood:Nourished.

Last week I was fortunate enough to visit Tropical Fruitworld, which is situated not far from the Queensland/New South Wales border.

Tropical Fruitworld is a research establishment combined with a tourist attraction, which aims to grow and find out about lots of different fruits whilst at the same time being a great day out if you love fruit.

TFW grow hundreds of varieties of Tropical and Sub-Tropical fruits. Among their many treasures are several types of Sapote.

When I was there I bought Canistel or Yellow Sapote, Green Sapote and Mamey Sapote.

All were really delicious.

The word  Sapote simply means 'fruit' and is used to describe fruits from several families.

For example the Chocolate or Black Sapote (Diospirus digyna) is in the Ebenaceae family.

Whilst the White Sapote (Camisiroa edulis) is in the Rutaceae family.

Green Sapotes (Pouteria viride), Yellow Sapotes (Pouteria campechiania) and Mamey Sapotes (Pouteria sapota) are all in the Sapotaceae family.

Though from different families, what all these fruits seem to have in common is that they are rich and nutritious and they can be a very valuable source of nutrients in a fruit diet.

The sapotes have their origins in Mexico, Central and South America. They are generally fruits that are widely appreciated in their native countries and they also often seem to be fruits that have not been developed so much by growers.

They remain, as they would have thousands of years ago, as great nutritional fruits.

All fruits cleanse to some degree but others also have more 'building-up' effects.

The Sapotes, whilst helping the body to cleanse also will help to 'build-up' and to nourish.

The Canistel or Yellow Sapote is so rich that I find it difficult to eat a whole fruit to myself; they make a great fruit for sharing!  They also have good amounts of iron and calcium.

Mameys are so full of Beta Carotene, that they taste like carrots or sweet pumpkin pie. They are also good for iron.

Chocolate Sapotes have good amounts of calcium and vitamin C and are fun fruits for children.

The ancient races that inhabited Central and South America were well known for their great health and strength, I am sure that some of their wellness was due to the wonderful range of Sapote fruits which grew in abundance in their environment.

Enjoy and thank those Sapotes, they have given humans so much over the last few millenia.

Love and peace,

from Anne XX.

Here are the Playmobil creatures also having fun on Mount Mamey Sapote.

One of the precious things, to me, about eating a fruit diet is that there are so much less waste products in one's life.

When one has eaten a piece of fruit, one is literally left with nothing more than some skin and seeds, if anything at all.

Even when I have lived in the middle of a city, with little space for a compost bin, I have managed to find communal compost sites, where I could leave my fruity bits and bobs.

At present, our compost pile feeds a host of creatures, from the microscopic bacteria to the fruit flies to the rather bigger Bush Turkeys. We are different in our house we feed the turkeys and not the other way round!

I love the fact that one can have a delicious fruit meal outdoors and then just leave the peelings somewhere to compost back into the earth and that we can also plant or disperse the seeds.

How nice to leave a seed somewhere and come back a little while later to find that it has grown into a plant. How nice and how special that one's diet can help to grow new plants.

If one ate a takeaway all that would be left would be a container, maybe a container that would take several centuries to break down. How different  to leave fruity traces on the planet.

What is left behind from a fruit meal has so much potential, literally the potential for whole new life.

So many things sprout in our garden as a result of lovely fruit meals shared together. It is a miracle, every time ,watching a baby fruit tree poke its first  delicate shoots out from the soil.

I love the fact that my child watches the growth of his papaya tree, in the back garden. He sees the flowers, the immature fruit and he knows that something wonderful is being created before his very eyes. Not fast food, even though papayas grow pretty quickly, but slow food that is well worth the wait.

I do feel that a fruit diet brings with it just so many blessings. I love its pure simplicity, I love the fact that the food I eat, every piece of it, is a work of art ,a beautiful Masterpiece created by Mother Nature.

Life in all its richness is symbiotic, we take and we also receive, plants give us so much; food, shelter, materials, oxygen and beauty.

We can put back simply by planting seeds and composting plant waste. It feels good to be part of Nature to feel the rich soil in one's fingers and to smell all the earthy scents of really alive soil.

Every little action we do has a whole lot of consequences ; planting a seed now may feed a family somewhere in the future, building a compost heap will give life and love to all manner of creatures. There will be whole worlds of wonder existing in your decomposing fruit scraps.

We can sit on the edge of life or we can reach in and connect with all the other energies that help to make this world so beautiful.

Ashes to ashes and dust to dust, we are all part and parcel of a fantastic planet and we can feel these deep connections when we live in harmony with other life forces and our lives become entwined with Nature.

Have lovely days,

love and peace,

from Anne XX.
