This question is resounding. Here is the answer:
A Folk Artist is someone who creates original art because they enjoy expressing their skill. Folk Artists are self taught or taught by their family, therefore they are keeping a skill of creativity alive through their love of this expression.
They don't necessarily want to sell the art. Most Folk Artists are very giving and give their art to family and friends. Folk Art is becoming more and more popular to collect, therefore the rare and original folk art discovered by collectors is a wonderful treasure hunt happening every weekend in America.
Trinity/ Northern California Folk Art Center is a new network of creative artists on the West Coast of California. We are happy to be able to network artist above the Bay / Sacramento area. We are also able, surprisingly, to network artists from around the entire globe. I almost cry when we get a friend from Italy or Egypt who is interested in our Folk Art! Our humble little home/office at the Lee Ranch House is filled with original pieces.
We are located on 299West and Lorenz Rd. right next to the Joss House State Park and the Lee Fong Park. A monthly Art Cruise happens every 1st Saturday in the wonderful gold mining town of Weaverville. Come for a visit and stay in the Whitmore Bed and Breakfast "original victorian home".
