I know that some of you are fans. They have a new album coming out and are touring the U.S. in support of it. Check it:

Hey everyone, the U.S. dates are up on our Facebook page, check them out and be sure to RSVP for whichever show(s) you are attending. Stay tuned for more updates on the album release and the U.K. tour.

A highlight of SXSW for me was unexpectedly catching a performance by Nite Jewel. Her music has been described as "Xanax Pop" and I suck at descriptions but they play a hazy sort of electronic dance music with really cool, detached sounding vocals. After seeing them at a day party I went home and looked them up online. I came across the video for "Artificial Intelligence" and was hooked. You should check it out below and friend them up if you like it. In either case please reply and tell me what you think, for reals.

(Disclaimer: No, Nite Jewel is not a BRAT client, I just really dig the music.)

Here are a few shows this week that I wish I could go to. Give each of the pages a quick listen if you can? Maybe you go to the shows and I can live vicariously through you. Each of the images is clickable to the bands' pages.

"a forty-two minute barrage of apocalyptic sonic bliss.. it's conceptual, rewarding listening that leaves me in awe after every play"
5/5 - Real Groove Magazine

Oct 22 2008 1:00P -CMJ SHOWCASE- Crash Mansion
Oct 23 2008 8:00P The Lucky Cat Brooklyn, NY
Oct 25 2008 8:00P -CMJ SHOWCASE- The Knitting Factory / Tap Room

TIME-OUT NY: "Most bands will never write a song so flawless as Violens' "Violent Sensation Descends." ... Your ears are broken if you don't play it several times over before you can do anything else...Violens clearly draws from the mid-'80s U.K. indie scene (Aztec Camera, the Pale Fountains, Prefab Sprout) but doesn't sound derivative of anyone; the group's evocation of that era's internationalist style and wit comes wrapped in a cool emotionalism that also characterizes Violens' onstage vibe. The only issue with their shows is that we can't get them to play a song more than once."

Oct 21 2008 8:00P Annex (Club NME @ CMJ)
Oct 24 2008 7:00P Bowery Ballroom (CMJ Music Marathon)
Oct 25 2008 10:00P LOVE (Cantora Records CMJ Showcase)

Oct 25 2008 9:00P (doors, but there are 3 bands that go on prior to APTBS)

I've seen this band twice over the past couple months and they are not to be missed. If you dig My Bloody Valentine, Joy Division and/or drugs you need to check out this show. They go on late so you can head right over from Battle Circus @ Knitting Factory if you are into going to both.

I'd love your feedback on any of this....

Cheers,
Bill H

Some friends and I have put together a series of auctions for a fellow Dresden Dolls fan who recently lost her husband and is stuck paying several grand in funeral expenses. There are some rare Dolls and MSI items up for grabs as well as some other odds and ends like a Saw shirt, Rollins book, Swans vinyl and more. All of the money from these items will go directly to help our friend pay these funeral expenses so it is for a good cause. Please give it a look and bid if you are interested. I know that some of you enjoy my auctions just for the bizarre descriptions and these have a touch of that too (see the shipping policies). Read and enjoy, feel free to ask me questions about the items here if you don't wanna go through eBay.

Not sure how many of you dig the Pumpkins but I have several vids from the shows this week in Asheville up on my YouTube Channel and a couple of the songs are brand new. Enjoy.

Thoth is a street performer in NYC who has had an Oscar winning documentary made about him. A friend showed me homeboy's page on YouTube and I was so impressed that I went and checked him out in Central Park. He is an intense performer who is well worth seeing and best free show you will find in NYC, although you will likely wanna donate a few bucks. Check out the vid below and if you like it feel free to add him to your friend page and let him know.
