Current mood:  creative
Okay, so I am going back on my word from the last time I did this blogger thang. I first want to say that I truly appreciate EVERYONE who came out to my shows and showed the love. It was a very rewarding experience to be able to play live for all my friends and loved ones (yes, anyone who comes and pays money to hear me make all that racket is a loved one!). At this point, the difficulties of keeping a lineup of solid musicians has become very difficult, and the constant set backs have forced my hand. ASHOKA, for the time being, has pulled the plug on live performance.....stop crying, please! It's okay...what?!

Anyways, I have been working on some excellent (in my unbiased opinion) new songs, and have decided that a new collection is what I am more excited about. SOOOO, I will be recording some new songs, all by myself yet again, and putting them out there sometime in the near future. My sound/style has evolved, changed, and w/out giving anything away, will be a new direction sonically, while still adhering to what I hold sacred musically: songwriting, live instruments, dynamics, etc.

NOW FOR THE NEW NEWS! I have joined the band Holding Mercury as guitarist/backing vocalist!!!!!!! SO, check out myspace.com/holdingmercury to hear the band. It is a thrill to be playing with a super talented, visionary brotherhood like this, and we are performing alot over the next year promoting the new album "Downfall of an Empire".

So yes, I will be out there performing still. I think all of you who dig what I do will feel the same about Holding Mercury. So come out to a show, say hi, and see that there is a new sheriff in town....okay, corny I know, but what can I say!

So, again I LOVE all of you for supporting my music, and check back sometime to when new ASHOKA stuff will be out....or it may end up on a future Holding Mercury album. Only time will tell....

Peace!!!!!

Ashok Warrier

p.s. this myspace will continue to stay up, and i promise to update it when i have some time!

After many line up changes over the past couple of years, I feel that this band will be the strongest representation of the sound I have been cultivating. Ben Johnson on drums, Andy Allnutt on bass, and Scott Fritz on guitar will join me in this new year. I am very pleased that Scott is joining us as we have a long history together. Scott helped me out alot when I was recording D2N, and his superstar guitar playing is just what the doctor ordered. Ben and Andy have been extremely solid in their interpretations of the rhythm section, and it is all coming together....nicely! I also want to shout out to all the musicians who have played with me over the course of the last few years. Even though it wasn't always the right fit, all of you are talented dudes who will do well in your musical pursuits, and I can't thank you enough for your time and effort.

That said, I am VERY excited to start performing alot this year. I am also writing several new songs for the upcoming 4th Ashoka record. Don't want to have any expectations other than I am confident that I am getting better at writing, recording, arranging etc. I think there will be some new twists to the sound without giving up the "trademark" Ashoka style. Looking to record the new stuff sometime later this year.

Feeling very positive again about music. It's a tough road, but I am looking forward to playing with these great musicians. This year will be full of activity, and there is no expectation other than to get this music out there. Oh, and make some beer money too....he he!

Allright, so stay tuned to see what is going on in our world. It's good to be back out there with all our friends/fans! Thanks for waiting, and not cheating on us with another band. It wasn't you, it was us :0)
