Loganville Autumn Heritage Festival - November 7

Autumn Heritage Festival

We're honored to be part of this wonderful celebration, and we'd love for y'all to join us. If you're in the area (or can get here for the day), come hang out with us! Word has it that the Hounddog himself will be deejayin' the event! Whoa boy.

Here's a little rundown, courtesy of the festival organizers:

Autumn Heritage Festival, Loganville, GA November 7, 2009; 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
The Autumn Heritage Festival will surely take visitors back in time. Loganville, GA was founded by James Harvie Logan in 1842. He built his family home on his 62.5 acre lot and saw the population grow over the next several years. Loganville was first incorporated in 1887 with the city limit line stretching a half mile in every direction from the town well. As Loganville's population began to flourish, the downtown area did as well. Over time business grew along Main Street where folks would shop, eat and visit near the town well. It wasn't too long ago when families would shop at Sparkey's Grocery. Friends and neighbors would meet at the well to reconnect and catch up.

On Saturday, November 7, 2009, the streets of Loganville will be filled once again as we come together for the Autumn Heritage Festival. Between 9:00am and 3:00pm, friends and neighbors from all across the town will gather to shop, eat and visit. Visitors will find anything to fancy their style from our 130 exhibitors. After shopping, folks can feel free to set up their lawn chairs on the City Hall lawn and enjoy some music and/or talent from our stage areas.

The City of Loganville is happy to embrace our heritage and invite you to our downtown area to buy modern day goods and crafts. Loganville has come full circle and is returning to a time "Where People Matter". We welcome friends from far and wide to visit our community andenjoy the Autumn Heritage Festival, November 7, from 9am to 3pm.

Loganville is located 30 miles east of Atlanta and/or 30 miles west of Athens, and can be reached via Highway 78. The festival will be held in our downtown area near City Hall. Parking will be located downtown with shuttled parking at Loganville Elementary, First United Methodist Church and Loganville Baptist Church, all on Main Street.

It's a Songwriters' Ladies Night Afternoon on September 27!

Grace Buford, Kristin Tinsley & Julie Gribble
Photos courtesy of Grace Buford, Kristin Tinsley and Julie Gribble

Many of y'all know that, over the past two years or so, we've been hosting a series of "songwriter-in-the-round" events featuring some of our favorite local (and occasionally not-so-local) artists. Well, we here at the Doghouse have got another for ya comin' up on Sunday, September 27, starting at 3pm ET. We've arranged for a few twists to this one, however.

First, this particular installment will be a special "ladies only" edition (settle down, Hounddog) with three of our favorite folks: Grace Buford, Kristin Tinsley and Julie Gribble. All three of these wonderful women have been in the Doghouse before and we love 'em dearly. In fact, we love 'em so dearly that we're kinda surprised that they agree to keep coming back. These are some brave, brave ladies.

Second, when we say it's "ladies only", that even includes our host this time 'round. Sittin' in as guest hostess for the festivities will be our good friend (and Loganville's own) Gail Moore! So that makes four, count 'em, four classy female guests in the Doghouse at the same time. We're pretty sure that's a record.

And, lastly, all of this will not be aired just on Hounddog Radio. No, no. We're also going to be simulcasting it live via our pals over at Hitpower24 in Germany, as well as out to the great folks over at the virtual world of Second Life! Awwwwww, yeah. Get them avatar thingies ready!

We're really excited for this one and we hope you can join us this Sunday. Don't miss it!

Howdy, folks!

A friend of ours and a very talented musician, John Faye of Ike, will be traveling down from Philadelphia with the band to perform a few shows in Atlanta on the July 4th weekend. They have quite a nice event lined up for July 5 (at Park Tavern) but are currently looking to see if anyone would like to host an exclusive "Living Room" show the evening prior to that. We've been fans of John's music for a long time, so we thought we'd help get the word out in case any of y'all are having a shindig that could use some first-class entertainment on Independence Day (our single bowling-pin juggling act only entertains the folks for so long, ya know).

Anyway, we'll let John tell you the rest of the details. John, take it away:

IKE is looking to book a Living Room show in Atlanta on July 4th!!

We had a show for the 4th of July fall through, so we are putting out some feelers to see if any of our ATL friends would like to have IKE play their living room on that date. If you're already having a party, an LR show would be a cool addition to the festivities :)

If you have a serious inquiry, please message me asap at jkfaye@yahoo.com

We would be offering an extremely reduced rate to do the show, and we're willing to work within your budget. We're just trying to cover our expenses and do a fun warm-up date before our big show at "Unplugged In The Park" on July 5th!!

PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SHARE THIS LINK WITH YOUR NETWORK IF YOU FEEL ANYONE YOU KNOW MAY BE INTERESTED!!

Thanks everyone!!

John

Corey Crowder LIVE in the Doghouse on Sunday, May 17

Corey Crowder

Okay, consider it a bit of a Birthday Bash preview, at least for one of our musical guests. Please join us this Sunday at 3pm ET, as we welcome Corey Crowder to the Doghouse! "The Hounddog" himself had the opportunity to catch this talented young man perform a little while back, and the 'Dog was mighty impressed, both with Corey's talent as well as his demeanor. We're excited to have Corey doing the latest installment in our Pickin' on the Porch series.

Corey's a Georgia native who's developed a mixture of folk, jazz, and country largely due to his southern upbringing. He likes to blend his southern roots with his love for old jazz classics to form a smooth sound that's all his own. You can hear it all over his 2007 release, Learning to Let Go. Corey's got a brand-new album out as well, Gold and the Sand, and we're gettin' to know that one right now. So far, we dig it. A lot.

And don't forget that Corey will be part of our HUGE lineup for the 2009 Hounddog Radio Birthday Bash! See our previous blog post for all the info.

Grace Buford

One of the coolest, classiest, and most creative artists we know is dropping by to see us all, and we're honored to have her here once again. Please join us on Wednesday, April 29 as our dear friend Grace Buford returns to Hounddog Radio for yet another live performance for both us and her Second Life fans.

Grace will be joined by her friend, Beth Brown of Fish Fry Bingo (man, do we love that name), as they perform a sample set in preparation for their performance at American Tavern in Loganville, GA the following night. The show gets started at 8pm EDT, and we'll probably have Grace on starting around 9pm. The Second Life show will start immediately after our own Cybertoxic Lounge program. Don't miss it!
