I have a whole batch of new songs that I am looking forward to recording, and I was hoping to get into the studio starting in January 2010. But we'll see. Several unexpected things have come up that have made the logistics of that venture a little sketchy. Rest assured that I still plan on recording a second CD and will do so as soon as humanly possible. I'll try to keep you posted on the progress (or lack thereof) of that endeavor.
Meanwhile, I've had a rotten case of laryngitis that has prevented me from sharing any new songs on YouTube. I think a visit to the ENT doc is soon in order. Eek.
I hope you all (in the U.S.) had a nice Thanksgiving! :-)

I haven't fallen off the face of the earth, I promise!
I'm sure you've all had those times where life seems to be kicking your tail on a daily basis, and I'm no exception. I have lots of new songs simmering on the back burner, and I'm hoping to share some of them with you soon. Thanks for your patience.
In other news, I just saw U2 in concert for the first time! What an amazing show.

I had the privilege of being on NTV's Good Life this morning. It was a lot of fun! Thanks to Peggy, Leslie, and the whole NTV crew. You can watch all four segments online for a limited time:

July 9th marked two years since I put my first video on YouTube. What a trip this has been! I put up a video hitting some of the highlights-
I have two thoughts as I watch some of my old videos-- 1. Wow, I'm such a dork and have obviously little hesitation to make a complete fool of myself, and 2. I have grown a lot as a musician and as a songwriter in the last 2 years. Putting videos up has helped me get better at guitar and more focused as a writer-- and it's the reason I made a CD and started this whole giggin' business in the first place.
So thank you all for watching, commenting, supporting, and sharing my music! I can never express how much it means to me to know that internet friends and perfect strangers alike are excited about my music. Wow. Thank you!!
Here's to many more years of making music!

For better or worse, I just joined Twitter. (Why do I get the urge to write an exclamation point after the word Twitter? Twitter! Twitter! Tweet! It just seems so hyper.) Anyway, if you want to come follow me:

I don't know how often I'll tweet, but I'll be sure to send out a little nugget every now and then.
Isn't technology grand?

Hi everyone, OK, I'll admit up front, I'm a Facebook junkie. I use it to keep in contact with my friends and family... and I use it to waste valuable time that I could be using for something more productive. :-) But it's great, and I love it. However, I've kept my personal Facebook page private so that I could keep using it just for friends and family... until I found out that there is another Leesha Harvey on Facebook who has been getting spammed by my wonderful fans who want to add me as a friend! (Ah, you guys make me feel so loved!) So... I now have a Leesha Harvey Fan Page on Facebook if you want to add me... but please be sure it is the fan page and not the regular profile page. You can follow this link to get there: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Leesha-Harvey/89719880760?ref=tsThanks! You're the best!

Hi everyone! Another quick update.
I've been busy with several different endeavors that have kept me away from Youtube and any regular gigging. I've started a new job as a part-time piano accompanist at a local school, which I am loving. I also have a role in our local community theater's upcoming musical, so rehearsals are keeping me busy.
I've been writing lots of music, but not necessarily for me to sing... I've been submitting a variety of songs to music publishers through TAXI (an independent A&R company... if you're a musician and haven't checked them out, I highly suggest it!). So while I haven't put anything new up on YouTube lately, I have been busy writing and recording music. It would be great if something pans out, but if there's one thing the music industry will teach you, it's patience. :-)
I do have a YouTube video in the works, but it's going to take awhile. I'll be sure to let you know when it's finally posted.
Other than that, I've just been trying to stay warm amidst the wind and snow. I sometimes wonder if I'm not part bear considering how much I feel like hibernating this time of year!
As I look back at 2008, I am so pleased with how well my CD has sold. When I first decided to record, I didn't know if anyone would buy it, so it's been a pleasant surprise. Of course, I don't know if it's a large number compared to other musician's first albums, but I'm happy either way! Thanks again to everyone who has purchased my CD. I also appreciate you spreading the word to others who you think might enjoy it. As always, it's available at CDBaby--

First I should say that I rarely, if ever, watch T.V. PBS is my favorite station, if that tells you anything. But leading up to Christmas, there are several Christmas movies on that my kids and I want to watch-- A Charlie Brown Christmas and all that. Unfortunately these cinematic gems are broken up by obnoxious commercials. One particular genre of commercials simultaneously irritated me and humored me this year--jewelry commercials. Have you ever noticed how there are a ton of jewelry commercials on this time of year, and each one of them portray the same message: Girls, what you really want for Christmas is expensive jewelry and you should expect nothing less, and guys, you are scum if you don't buy this for your girl. What utter nonsense. I say, if you want to show me you love me, have the good sense not to go blow several hundred (or thousand) dollars on something that I would only wear occasionally and would most likely lose anyway. Show me you are more responsible with money than that! You don't have to prove you love me with diamonds and gold. And if you insist on spending several hundred dollars, then by all means, buy me a dishwasher. So girls, please don't buy into the mentality that the only good gift is sparkly and comes in a tiny box. Don't be shallow little princesses who will be pleased with nothing less. My husband and I decided to forgo presents this year and donate the money we would have spent on each other and other people to a worthy cause-- buying food for the Karanda Mission Hospital in Zimbabwe. http://www.teamworld.org/PRAY/SpecialProjects.aspxAnyway, there's the end of my rant. My apologies if you bought jewelry for a gift this year. My apologies if you asked for jewelry this year. I just know too many women who pout if they don't get bling for Christmas and too many guys that spend money they really don't have buying it. :-)

Current mood: cold
I just uploaded a rockin' version of "What Child Is This?" that I recorded on my MacBook (did I mention that I love this thing?!?). I thought you might enjoy some Christmas music--let me know what you think! I tried to make it downloadable from my Myspace page, but for some reason, this option doesn't seem to be working. You can download it from my website if you want: http://leeshaharvey.com/music.htmlIt is absolutely FREEZING in Nebraska... you know it's not a good sign when the plastic you put on the inside of your windows has a layer of frost on it-- that is, the frost is on the INSIDE of our house. Brrrrrrr!
