Current mood:  productive

I'm back!  As most of you know I was in the UK  for a special surprise visit to Carl Tilson at his charity luncheon.  It was both an inspirational and emotional visit - one of which I will tell you more about when I get settled here at home and things get back to normal, like my sleeping and my blogging...

Guys, it's crazy how busy I've been - not that I'm complaining - it's all good! Check it out - here is a week in the life of Trish Stratus:..

I returned from the UK Wednesday February 18 - when I got home, had no time for jet-lag - jumped right into 'bidness'...I got the great news the Stratusphere will be a part of the swag bags for the Genies (the Canadian equivalent to the Oscars), so we had to prepare those and I also had to prepare for my TV appearance the next day.

Part of preparing to be on a television appearance involves the standard - hair, make-up and outfit - but also, preparing for the discussion. So, Wednesday consisted of running around (with no sleeping in/being jet lagged allowed … yet) for the beauty-fying and then arriving at the CP24 studios here in Toronto to go live at 5pm.  For the next hour or so I basically talked yoga! I appeared on a show called Wylde on Health which explores alternative approaches to health care and wellness. It was a great forum to spread my slightly overzealous message of trying of getting the world to do yoga!

Friday I started my day with a yoga session to try to hold off the jet-lag that was creeping up on me (I told it to stay away until I was done my media blitz - geez!). Did wonders for me as I’m still going almost a week later with no signs of jet-lag!  Then I jumped into make-up for my cover shoot with the REVIVE folks.  I expressed how I wanted something that really reflected me – not that some of the other covers don’t – its just that if you know me, you know I’m kind of a caj (I made that word up – ‘cause I always say it – short form of casual but I thought that’s how I’d write it), jeans wearing kinda gal so hopefully this cover will be Trish-tastic (ha! there it is!)

Saturday I met with Lauren from REVIVE and we did an interview – and let me say, it was great, she really explored some different sides of me because let’s be honest  - I’m sure many of you agree – how many times can you hear the ‘trish went to york, there was a strike, an internet rumour, then wwe…’ story, am I right? I feel there’s more to me and my story that I wanted to share so watch for this issue should be a good one – I’m excited to see the story!

Sunday was a family day – love those … need those! I was feeling a little sore throat today – which my body does when it wants to send me a friendly reminder that IT IS TIRED!! So, I popped some Cold FX (do you guys have that outside of ....Canada....? It’s like an Airborne or a mega dose of Vitamin C, basically helps boost your immune system when it needs it – as mine clearly does right now – just 4 more days, hold on body…)

I started the week by shooting a piece for a channel called Equator HD – it was an interview at the studio that will feature myself and several other women telling their stories – it will air on International Women’s Day which is March 8. It is sure to be an inspiring look at women! Sipping on Emergen-C to keep me going … I popped into Lululemon who were gracious enough to give me clothes to wear to my upcoming TV appearances – thanks guys!

Tuesday I went to the CBC studios to make an appearance on the Steven & Chris Show – I’m not sure if you guys saw my last appearance on that show – but they are a blast!  The sent cameras to my studio before I left and we featured my studio and I also demonstrated the different types of yoga so that piece aired to the studio audience and then I lead a class – and I even got Chris to try dancer’s pose – a very entertaining segment for sure!  This will all air in ..Canada.. (and I hear CBC reaches ....Detroit) on March 2.  I also did a radio show where we discussed everything from Barbie turning 50 and the image she provides little girls to violence in hockey – good stuff!

That brings us to today (are you now tired too?) - did a little bit of catch up with my ‘oh so overflowing’ emails, and now, it’s after 9pm and I really - believe it or not - gotta go to bed soon (which if you notice the times that I normally post …it’s a little early for me)!  The show I am doing tomorrow requires me to arrive at 6:30a.m. which means I have to get up at 4 a.m. to get all purdied up and get down there!

But, I had a few  - so I wanted to give you guys a quick hello and update!  The show tomorrow is our morning show here in T.O – It’s called BT or Breakfast Television and I’m bring a few of my instructors on to demo the different styles of yoga we have at Stratusphere – I’m not sure, don’t quote me on this - but I do believe it has a studio audience so if you just happen to be up between 6:30-9:00 and in the downtown region – stop by to say hi!

So tomorrow is my last ‘gig’ of my Stratusphere blitz and I look forward to chill-axing finally this weekend! And then, I have a ton of catch up to do – you know how it is when you go away and then you gotta play catch up well, besides actually being  away – these media days don’t really allow for much more business to get done so it’ll be a hectic one just catching up. And, pretty obvious from this blog but, I have not tackled my inbox, even my friend request list (I’m up to 4 digits – which is yay! But I gotta set a day aside to just go through them – hopefully do that this weekend), and I haven’t even begun to go through the pics from the shoot but patience, my friends it will all get done … eventually … sometime in the near future … I promise.

Good night – I’m SO sleeping in on Friday!

No, not like Jericho - I finally put my Christmas present to good use - I got the Flip Video - and can I say, what an awesome little invention! Have you guys heard of it (check me out - I think I'm giving you guys a scoop here, like a 'must-have' from Trish, meanwhile this little contraption is old news - well, it’s new news to me! In fact, I think this is a new-trish-ious piece of information – there it is! My bad punning – you know you were craving it!

Seriously, talk about convenience – check out my very first video upload! Okay, do you think seeing this here will FINALLY put to rest the doubters – there are still some out there, can you believe it? I think we are slowly but surely killing off the posers out there – do me a favour – if you guys see one – do report it. And, if you were at one point friends with one – do delete it. Now facebook, well, that’s a whole ‘nother thing over there … we’ll get to that one another day (although for the record – NOT ON FACEBOOK personally!)

Okay, I digress … so, I finally did the photo shoot today! So I took the video to provide a little sneak peek action – hope you enjoy … And, the question is, will that outfit make the cut or not? Stay tuned…Another thing, I noticed – I kind of have brown hair now huh?

But, don’t get too excited now – don’t expect your 8x10s in the mail tomorrow! Just a little FYI – a lot goes into the whole photo shoot process. First you style the look of the shoot (think back to my babe of the year shoots) – assemble a kick a$$ team to do make-up, and photos. Actually schedule the shoot – which is many hours, many wardrobe changes and many photos that you have to painstakingly go through and select (trust me, staring at your own mug for many hours – you get kinda sick of yourself – or at least your face!).

I figure I will be done all this by end of month (can I say month – ish). I am going out of country for a little ‘bidness’ and when I return I will get to the ‘editing process’ and then the signing has to happen, and then the sending out – so, bear with me, it’ll get to you soon enough (geez, I’m getting worn out just thinking of the process!). Patience my friends ‘cause don’t forget I also in the meantime have you know ‘bidness’ to take care of like you know, run a yoga studio, build an empire …

I also am about to start a bit of a campaign for the studio – oops, I did it again (non-Canadians cover your ears!), so stay tuned for some Trish TV. Quickly (keep ‘em covered…), I will be appearing on the following shows:

• Feb. 19 - Wylde on Health (CP24)
• Feb. 24 – Steven and Chris Show (CBC)
• Feb. 26 – BT (Citytv)

I’m sorry for everyone around the world no Trish TV … but you didn’t think I’d forget about the rest of you guys, did you? Speaking of around the world …

Around the World - Sneak Peek at Stratusphere!

Don't say I never gave you nothing ...

And on that note, for now, I bid you Adieu!

The Stratus Signing was a - to quote Borat - "great sucess"

It was great to see all the support from everyone who came out - alot of familiar faces and alot of new ones too!  It is true I haven't done an autograph signing in a long time - I forgot how great it is to see everyone who shows up!

I wanna let you guys know that I hear ya - all the peeps from - well, anywhere non-Canadian - there definitely is an unbalanced ratio of my Canadian vs. non - Canadian gigs ... so, I'm working on that!  I'm working with the publisher of Inside Fitness to see what we can do to make that issue available outside of Canada ... and, maybe see about doing an autograph signing somewhere in the good 'ole U.S.A. - stay tuned!

I have an update on the shoot for the Heart and Stroke Foundation 8x10s ... the photographer had to move the shoot so we are looking now at shooting early Feb - so let's say end of Feb. for me to be ready to sign and send.  But, I will let you know when we have shot (along with a sneak peek!)

And, finally - I am feeling the love from the comment board! It is so wonderful to read everyone's comments and I can't tell you how happy I am that this myspace has created a platform for us all to connect and share.  I really do feel that we have formed a special place where people really are connecting - I'm so grateful to have you all be a part of my stratusphere. And, just so you know, as much as I mean to you  - you and your support mean just as much to me.

Check out the story that SLAM! Wrestling did about the Stratus Signing. If you are in Toronto - pick up the Toronto Sun for coverage as well - oh, there I go again - sorry, okay, for EVERYONE - check out my album for pics from the event!  If anyone has any pics from the event - add them to your comment!

Victoria’s final match this past Friday on Smackdown officially brings down the curtain on an era.

Her departure was the last of a group of women who collectively raised the bar in women’s wrestling. A time when of the core players that made up the women’s roster, 9 of them were champions, 6 of them becoming champion for the first time, second time, etc.  During that time we saw the introduction of new characters and the reinvention of others, good guys and bad, each offering something different than the other – a flavor for everyone.

I guess the era formally began when the then defunct Women’s Championship (since the departure of Chyna saw the title and her reign as Women’s Champion come to an end) was brought back and put up for grabs at Survivor Series 2001.  The match was called a 6-pack challenge and it involved almost all of the women on the current roster all of which were wrestlers.  Sure, some were more seasoned than others, a few were even former champions, this match also featured the debut of a new woman to the roster – and that’s exactly what made it so interesting and entertaining.

Slowly from that moment on, we worked as a group to wiggle our way onto the show every week, even trying to grab a spot at the pay-per-views if we could. We used every chance we could to show the fans that we could do more in that ring than just flaunt ourselves – although we never forgot what brought us to the dance – it was all a carefully crafted balance.  The annual Diva shoots that ended up producing the magazines, videos and TV specials gave us the assist when it came to delivering the T&A to our fans, while we got to focus on delivering another form of T&A to the fans – talent and ability.

Over time certain things started to fall into place for us that helped elevate our status on the show from novelty act to eventually being an integral part of it. Obvious things helped like the fewer occurrence of matches that involved substances like gravy, mud and 1 square metre of fabric and, the fact that we started to have matches that lasted longer than 3 minutes! Every bit helped, the storylines that we were given to develop our characters, the occasional opportunity to interact with the main players like Vince, The Rock, Kurt Angle, Triple H, Kane, Steiner and Austin - all helped to make the women officially part of cast  – we were no longer just ‘extras’.

But at the end of the day, it still came down to delivering the goods; after all, it is a wrestling show. That’s where attention must be drawn to one of the biggest factors that made this era what is was.   Dave ‘Fit’ Finlay – you know him by his famous line “I love to fight!” – Well, he made us love to fight and he made you love to watch us fight.

Originally assigned to the women’s matches as a rib from management, Fit took on the challenge and embraced it. He saw the opportunity to create something special, with a little TLC and a collective effort, Fit lead the charge on churning out some of the most exciting, innovative and entertaining matches ever seen from women in the WWE.  He helped us develop stories in the ring that enhanced our storylines so that it would eventually culminate to a pay-per-view match – just like the guys.  He brought out the best in us, paying close attention to the individuality of each character, reminding us constantly that ‘this ain’t ballet’ – so that we would go out there and bring it each and every time we were in the ring.

It is the most active time ever in the history of the Women’s Championship.  Just as an example, from November 2001 until Lita’s retirement in 2006 the championship changed hands 18 times between 7 women – that’s a lot of action and a lot of women kicking butt!  We saw a lot of firsts – a chair shot and a cage match - and a lot of things that normally didn’t involve women like going through a table and hardcore matches.  We were even featured in the Main Event of Raw – a spot reserved for the biggest match-up of the night. Even the women who were not title contenders played an important role in forming this group that redefined the role of women in wrestling and who embodied the then newly-coined phrase ‘WWE Diva’.

Like Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman of the Chicago Bulls, or like Cindy, Naomi, Claudia, Christy and Linda were the ‘supermodels’ of the 90’s, I’m proud to have been part of a group that defined an era, a time that is hard to forget and even harder to duplicate.

And so goodbye and best wishes to Victoria.  You were part of a special time that brought joy and entertainment to millions - a toast to the widow’s peak freak!

It was a great run … it was an honor to have run with you.

Long before I ever laced up a pair of wrestling boots I made a living as a fitness model. I did my first fitness photo shoot in 1997, which ended up being my first cover. I appeared on the cover of the September 1998 issue of Musclemag International for the first time - not bad for a first gig, huh?

That was over 10 years ago and over 60 magazine covers later ...

It's been a long time since I have done any fitness work, but recently I returned to my roots and did a feature and photo shoot for Inside Fitness - reminding everyone that I kick ass ... but also - I can't do it - my puns are getting bad aren't they?

Check out my latest cover- hot off the press (pun intended - sorry, I couldn't resist!).

We get 2 options to leave our Christmas tree out to be picked up with the trash - this week or next - well, I chose next of course! Any chance to keep my festive, sparkly, twinkling decor up - even if its just for one more week - I'll take it!

I love to decorate!  Many of you already know that I have a love for interior design - you may have heard me talk about it (and show you) when my home was feartured on WWE Confidential, and MTV Cribs and, notice something? You saw different homes, all decorated differently - I guess because I've had the opportunity to do the interior of my homes (and my studio) so many times, I've gotten the chance to play around and if I do say so myself - I think I have a knack for it.|

And, when certain seasons come around, I love to decorate accordingly ... in fact that was one of the things I missed being on the road - I just never had the time to put up outside Christmas lights - needless to say, our lawn shone brightly - not crazy national lampoon style - but, just perfectly this year!

So I get one more week with my Christmas decorations - would it be weird to have it up all year?  Hm, maybe the tree would lose its needles and be all Charlie Brown like - but would that be such a bad thing? Messy, yes - but a sparkly, sparse tree, wouldn't the lights offset the baldness?

I guess I don't want to be known as the 'crazy christmas lady', so I've decided to take pictures and share them instead - and the memory will be enough to last a lifetime - or at least until next decorating season!

I will be taking pictures of my stuff as I de-christmas ... stay tuned, as I go all Martha Stewart on ya!  Anybody got some sparkly fun they wanna share too?|

UPDATE: Okay, check it out - see how I totally went all Martha Stewart! Pics are posted now - enjoy!

Well, that's it - 2008 is finished

 fini, τελικού, gotowy, terminado, finito!

I just wanted to send out my wishes to everyone here - I hope everyone had a wonderful year and will enter the new year  full of dreams, aspirations, and hope.

Here's to a successful, inspired and joyful 2009!

Oh, yes, of course, I also hope it is full of Stratusfaction, it is Stratusfying, you are Stratusfied - and also ...

May you get a clean bill of health from your dentist, your cardiologist, your gastro-enterologist, your urologist, your proctologist, your podiatrist, your psychiatrist, your plumber and the I.R.S. and C.R.A

May your hair, your teeth, your butt
, your abs and your stocks not fall; and may your blood pressure, your triglycerides, your cholesterol, your white blood count and your mortgage interest not rise.

May New Year's Eve find you seated around the table, together with your beloved family and cherished friends. May you surround yourself with those you love and appreciate everything at its simplest level. May your food be yummier (maybe more organic), the environment cleaner,
and the pleasure much more fulfilling than anything else you might ordinarily do that night.

May what you see in the mirror delight you, and what others see in you delight them. May someone love you enough to forgive your faults, be blind to your blemishes, and tell the world about your virtues.

May
this year be your personal best, with you taking control of your destiny, going after your dreams, reaching for the Stratusphere. May it be your healthiest, eating what is good for you - remembering it is all about balance. May you be the best 'YOU' you can be - do some yoga, go for a walk, talk care of yourself to live life to its fullest.

And may we live in a world at peace and with the awareness of God's love in every sunset, every flower's unfolding petals, every baby's smile, every lover's kiss, and every wonderful, astonishing, miraculous beat of our heart.

Here we go ...

Current mood:  triumphant

It’s a little over 24 hours after delivering some Stratusfaction to Raw and honestly, the buzz is just barely starting to wear off … actually I don’t think it will be wearing off any time soon to be honest! I mean, in a word – someone I know said it best – “wow!”

And, I apologize, I would have been on sooner but it has been crazy for me the last few days … Christmas kinda snuck up on me so I had to finish off some shopping today as I was busy all weekend hosting some guests from out of town, we dealt with some lost luggage due to the backlog from the storm on Friday, did some spa-ing, and downward dog-ing, and then, you know got ready to deliver some Stratusfaction at the ACC!  How crazy was that?! I don’t think you guys realize just how amazing that was for me - can you see goosebumps on HD?  Seriously, I’ve been hearing from many that it was an early Christmas present … well, it was for me too.

Ever since I retired I am constantly being asked “would I ever consider returning” and I have always said: for the right moment, for the right scenario, for the right person calling me out … well, check, check, and check!

Let’s see, the Champ needed a partner, in the T dot, he’s facing Glamerella – an unlikely duo that quite frankly I am a fan of – the bat signal couldn’t be any brighter – cue the giggle!

It was great going back to the ACC, both backstage and on! It is an interesting thing when as a (former) WWE Superstar you return to the backstage scene. It does feel a little like it’s a microcosm that you insert yourself back into and it’s kinda all the same – like you never left. Sure there are a few new faces, new waists upon which the titles sit, but for the most part it’s just like coming home after being away at college – it’s still home.  Especially with all the love … the great, big hug from J.R. – ‘Trish sighting confirmed’, the smell of self tanner and hairspray – except the ladies locker room is now a little fuller (especially with the Supershow), handshakes from some new folks, whom I knew (from watching) but had never met … it really was home sweet home – and yes, the 17, 000 in attendance helped with that feeling! Was that a déjà vu kinda feeling or what?

Did anyone notice the boots? Had to dust those babies off – last time I wore those was my last Raw match at MSG against Mickie James (who I see is still on fire!). Those boots are a bit of an homage to the greatest Canadian wrestling family – everyone digs them –  well, usually - there was a certain someone backstage who wasn’t too keen on me wearing them …

Being at Raw kicking ass and taking names with John Cena, introducing the FOB Santino to the Stratusphere, and giving the Glamazon a sampling of what a seven time Champion tastes like was in fact an early Christmas present … seconds anyone?

Speaking of presents – I got some I gotta go wrap…

What does FOB mean? Fresh Off the Boat – what else…

Wishing the Stratusphere a Merry Trishmas!

Not that I had any doubt that we'd get there when I blogged the night before, I just didn't think it would be by the next day! Yes, we did it literally over night!

Ladies and Gentleman, beacuse of the power of the stratusphere we helped raise for the Heart and Stroke Foundation a grand total of - drum roll please - $5325!

Combining the online contributions with the funds we received at the holiday party at Stratusphere (as well as funds sent via the mail to the studio) the Heart and Stroke Foundation called me with a great birthday surprise - needless to say they were absolutely thrilled at the official number following the event (and actually quite shocked that we raised that much in just under 2 weeks - which I do concur is amazing!).

You guys, we totally rock - I'm so proud of the job we did! Thank you to everyone who contributed - doesn't feel good to know you are helping to make a difference? Again, I do concur (favorite new word of the day)!

And, by the way, I would have jumped on here earlier but, well - it was my birthday (the big 99 lol!) and I was eating cake- mmmm! Which brings me to another thank you - for all the birthday wishes - there's alot of them hehe (they've been pouring in for days). I just love the cakes, candles, kittens, flowers, funnies, kind words, well wishes and ... picture of sable (?) - random ...

Big shout out to everyone who stopped by Stratusphere yesterday! It was awesome to meet you guys and thank you for supporting by attending the event.  It was a fun evening - a great blend of people - family, friends, fans, students, teachers, business associates, and surrounding business owners all to support a great cause! Yummy foods (my fav part of a party) and we even did birthday cake for me - yay! And yes, I do have pictures - a friend Ian took some pictures for me but he doesn't have a digital camera (I know, he's heard it a million times!).  So, I have to get them dumped on a disk and as soon as I do that - I'll get them up here for you guys to see (be patient - we are expecting a big storm here tomorrow, keep that in mind - well, if i pull out the 'ole snowshoes ... just kidding - i don't have snowshoes ... or do?)

So now I'm going to be making my list and checking it twice - the list of people who get 8x10s that is. Okay, I'm putting this disclaimer out there now - if you have donated please be sure to leave me a comment on this blog with your ID# and how you want your 8x10 personalized because I will be using that as the master list to send out the pics.  And, again as far as when to expect the pic, I'm thinking it will probably be end of January.  I have the shoot planned for mid-January so by the time I go through proofs, select, get them printed and prepare the mail out - end of January sounds about right.

Happy holiday shopping everyone! And again, did I mention we rock...
