Pop-tarts, the tasty on the go breakfast treat. Gooey filling trapped in this stale tasteless cardboard like crust. I don't know how deeply you look at your pop-tarts, or what you see when you look at them. If you even look at them at all. What I see, though, is this metaphor for life.

Life is a balancing act. A unity of opposites. Every aspect can be seen in terms of the interaction of both sides. Positive and negative, right and wrong, do and don't, love and hate, yes and no, light and dark, happiness and sadness. This is the concept of yin and yang. There is no such thing as a perfect because there is always some bad in the good, but likewise there is always some good in the bad. Indeed, it is through the existence of the bad that we define the good. Without sadness there would be no happiness, or at least you could never know the full extent. Just think about anything you've ever accomplished, how do you decide just how big of an accomplishment it was? It's by the hardships you had to overcome to achieve your prize. We realize how precious life can be when a loved one dies.

When you eat a pop-tart it's almost like boiling down life to its bare essence and taking it in in a few minutes. The sweet filling bringing happiness and pleasure; the bland crust bringing an almost sadness. Just like joys and sorrows in life, each one contributing to the other. Without the crust the filling might be too sweet, and without the filling the crust would be unbearable.

Or maybe it's just a toasted pastry and I'm reading too much into it.

So I'm in the philippines now. that's right be jealous. I don't really have too much to write just that im having a good time in case anyone was wondering about me. I've been sleeping like 16 hours a day tho, the sun comes out at like 530 in the morning and i think (at least id like to use it as an excuse) im still jet-lagged. so i get tired when i should be awake. and the day basically starts when the sun comes up and ends when the sun goes down. so thats weird enough to me already. but its cool. one crazy thing is that cigarettes are sold by the cigarette for a penny a piece.. after exchange rate. and a whole pack of marlboros, if you can find them, only costs 24 piso, which is less than 50 cents. and everything is like that. its pretty sweet. but ive only had one cigarette since ive been here, which is pretty good, thats almost a week now that ive only had one cigarette. go me. anywho, im limited in my access to the internet so im going to get going now, ill talk to all of you later, you guys better be ready to party when i get back, i miss you all. peace out

Category: Friends

I can remember an almost exact moment in time when I met each of my friends. I can't really say exact dates or anything that concrete, (except in a few exceptions) but I have a clear picture of when and how we met.

The only person I can't really do this for is Justin, but simply because I met him before I was even old enough to form memories, I must have been not more than a year old. In fact the earliest memory I have of my life includes him. I think it's awesome to have a friend like that, not many can say they've had a friend for basically as long as they've been alive. Not to mention all the things we've been through together.

I remember meeting Dan Allen in third grade, I was in my class for about a month or so before they made an announcemen that class sizes were too large so they had a new class formed and took a few kids from some of each of the over-booked classes. He was one of the kids put into this new class and so was I. He ended up living just down the street from me and from there we just became friends. About 13 years ago.

I met Steve at Pioneer Middle School in 8th grade we both had the same math class. We were the trouble makers. I didn't really get to know Steve until part of the way through Freshmen year in high school, though. When I saw him up at one of the Varsity football games. We snuck into the locker rooms to steal the pop from the football players.

I met Jay my Sophmore year, well actually it was the summer before my freshmen year, during summer practices for football. I remember seeing him in the weight room and having him work out with me. And then once school started sure enough we had a class together.

Bobby I met through Jay, one day on the way out to football practice I remember seeing Jay and he introduced me to his best buddy Bobby. Bobby Jay Steve and I always managed to get the same lunches, which is why I think we're still so close, we were able to see each other and hang out together every day.

I met Jen Hueston through Steve. She had had a class with him in high school and one day called him up to buy her a pack of cigarettes. I was hanging out with Steve and we picked her up, she told me the story about how her ring went through her entire digestive system... ask her about it not me.It took those little birds a while but once it happened it was rare to ever see Steve without Jen, so I made another new friend.

It's kind of funny the way I met Julie, she took one look at me and ran away screaming. I met her halloween 2004 when she came over to my house. I'd say we really became friends though, starting from when I had lost my driver's license and one day I was stranded out in Garden City and everyone I tried to call couldn't help me out, until for some reason I got a call from Suzie and Julie and they rescued me. Then Suzie helped me biig time to get a job at Taco Bell and we've all gotten close from working together.

I met Suzie at Steve's condo, she and Julie came over to visit Jen. It was just a typical day. I never saw that much of Suzie, until that day she was with Julie to pick me up in Garden City. Right around the time I started working at Taco Bell. Which actually probably wouldn't have even happened if not for Suzie. Thanks again!

Here's when I met Jen Boone, even though, she may tell you a different story. It was in the basement of the drummer for a band called "Leper Messiah" which has since become "BattleCross". I was chilling with the band for their practice, when she walked in. I'll admit it, the first thing I thought when I saw her was "Holy shit she's freakin gorgeous". We didn't really talk much, though, which is probably why Jen says we met new years of 2005. It was then that we really talked for the first time.

Well, if you had the patience to read all that, and you actually care, (damn you must be more bored than I am which is really really really bored) don't be offended if you haven't been mentioned. Truth is this is getting to be a long ass blog and going through everyone would take a year. But, I was looking through my myspace friends and the only one I don't know in person is Mr. Werewolf, and I think we can assume that's not really a person. And everyone else on that friend list I can remember how we met, well except for Justin and his sister.

So today, well last night, rather, was the From Autumn to Ashes show. I must say they rocked the house, even if we did get there a bit late.. thanks Dave. It was all great though, other things made up for missing a lot of the show, like getting my first ever wristband instead of 'X'! Not to mention the beer Dave bought me, and the shirt Dave bought me, that I got signed by all the members of From Autumn to Ashes when we met them and hung out with them a little bit afterwards. So that was sweet, and the part of the show we did catch was definately funtastic. Although the feckin security was out of control. I've never seen anyone violently ejected from a show before today. I didn't see the kids getting any crazier than normal but the security must have drug out at least 5 people choker-hold-big-boss-man style. It was nuts. I called them out on it, "What was that all about?" "Kids were getting rowdy threw some punches in the mosh pit". My ass, I watched the guy grab some random dude for no reason at all. Dave was going to pretend to be a lawyer to fuck with them, but we lost interest when we saw the band and ran over to meet them. All in all, good times. Afterwards I went to the bar with Dan, also a good time. Haven't really been to a bar in a while so that was cool, and its more fun when you're actually 21 and can actually drink and not just sneak sips. And another cool thing was being invited to the private Taproot show on the 19th. I can't wait for that.
