Current mood:  peaceful

First and foremost: Thank you to all of those that came out last night ..m/ The Agonist and Synastry for truckin it from Montreal. Bathed in Blood for just being fukin metal ..m/ nad DTR making it out there too and NOC for throwin it up...m/

As some may arlready know, last night was a good bye show, at the very least, for the bassist Alex. He's moving quite a ways away and cannot continue with Morterra. In light of this event, we are uncertain what the future of Morterra will be. The idea rigth now is to throw it on the side and take a small break from the band work.. get used to shcool/work etc. We may also be looking into exercising the option of recruiting a replacement bassist.. so we'll be keeping our eyes peeled for that, and revamp the band etc.

Regardless of what the future holds for Morterra, this project was one of the best things I've ever done. Obviously we haven't done as much as some of the other bands that are around us but I think we've had quite an awesome run... and annihilated our fair share of shows. We've had the honour of playing with the likes of Quo Vadis, Cryptopsy, Neuraxis, The Agonist, Deamon, Sordid, Synastry, Nephelium, Dead To Rights and Deathmarch (many times..m/), Profugus Mortis, Unexpect, Blinded By Faith, Terrorfest '06, Youthfest '06 w/ Boysnightout (after winning a series of Battle-of-the-Bands), Dyed in the Wool, Georgian Skull, Arise and Ruin, Dear Black Diary, Elevator 22, Porcelain Youth, Creep Colony, Bathed In Blood, Treachery  and so many other sic fukin metal bands ..m/

Ok, well Im done bragging.

Thanks to all you fuck heads that made this band and shows fukin awesome. Especially:Catharine Lazaroff, Tara Gahagan, Alex "Aroc" Jones, and Tim Ellis,

Keep checkin in and Keep it metal ..m/

Current mood:  sad

The Agonist
Dead To Rights
Synastry
Morterra
Bathed In Blood

Club Absinthe
$10, 19+, Doors @ 7 PM

Those are the new details for this friday's coming show..

I've heard a lot of things about the Undergound being closed down and that it will be turned into a night club. No more shows will be held there either. Which is fukin balls. You think the new owners coulda fukin waited to finish up the shows for this month eh? It woulda been awesome to play the Underground one last time.

Which brings me to more somewhat bad news. Though not really 'publicized' until recently, the August 24th Show will be the last show for Morterra for either a while, if ever again. Our bassist, Alex "The Grind' Reinbergs has made it into UBC and is moving to British Columbia... obviously leaving our sorry asses behind HAHA. The idea right now is to find a bassist that can match Alex's potential... which will be fukin difficult.. and take a few months to revamp Morterra. Write a whole new onslaught of songs, and come out with a recording that doesnt suck. hahaha. At this point, we really don't know, but one thing is for sure. This WILL be your LAST time to see Morterra as this line up, with these songs etc.

Feel free to message or email me if you have any questions regarding the show or the band.. We are currently seeking a bassist if anyone is interested in trrying out, drop me a line.

Keep it heavy ..m/

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I am posting a bulletin regarding the ongoing confusion regarding the July 21st Show at the Underground this Saturday with Morterra, Remain , Damascus and Blinded By Faith. I have spoken personally with No Official Capacity after each inquiry I received from someone time and time again. This is the line up for this Saturday's show. The Underground website proposes a night with Rigorous Oblideration, Deathmarch and Panzerfaust and Vesperian Sorrow. This is not the case. There probably has been some miscommunication beween the Undergound and NOC. What I do know is that I have spoken with NOC each time, and nothing has changed regarding this flyer.

If you've got any further questions, lemme know. OR you can go to the NOC myspace (in the top friends) and message there.

I'll see you all on Saturday, looking forward to booze and metal. Keep it heavy ..m/

Current mood:  pleased

We would like to introduce the new addition to the Morterra ranks: Corey Nicholls will be filling the void which has been left by our previous dummer, Tim Ellis.

Today was Corey's firts practice with the band, and things went exceptionally well. He seems up to par with the speed and skill to match and compliment the music of the band. Over the next month we will be teaching Corey the main Morterra songs in light of the upcoming Canada Day show... at which point his skill shall truly be tested ..m/

That's... it guys! haha. Keep it fuckin heavy, and I hope to see you out there in Toronto when Neuraxis comes to town. ..m/

Current mood:  gloomy

Today is a somber day for Morterra as it has lost one of its original members. Drummer Tim Ellis has made the decision to leave the ranks of Morterra. Conflicts have arisen within the band that have made these series of unfortunate events iminant. Tim, being one of the very first original members of Morterra, will be a brother always to us and we wish him well on what ever musical endeavour he should find him self in.

For those of you looking forward to the July 1st show, don't worry. This does not mean that Morterra will be dropping the show. We have every intention on finding a drummer to fill the void for that show at the very least.

Keep posted, and stay metal ..m/

We've decided to look for a second guitarist! Turns out that Alex and I keep writing songs that require second guitar parts more than we had thought, so we're gonna try some people out. Here's what we're looking for:

- First of all, your commitment:
        - make it practices everry saturday (in Burlington) as early as 12 as late as 7. There's some flexibility to this, but no excuse. (Alex comes from Toronto every saturday to make these practices)
        - Have some flexibility with regards to shows (dates and times), and maybe even transportation
- Your equipment:
        - Basically, we play shows, so something that will be sufficient. I run a Peavey Stereo Chorus 400 with 2 2x12's.. the thing is older than I am, but it's hung in there for me for a while, and still delivers as much as I need it to.
       - If you don't have sufficient equipment for whatever reason, you must be ready and able to get show-worthy equipment asap.
- Your guitar:
        - 7 string prefered
        - Willing to tune to Drop A and Drop D
- Your skill level:
        - You don't have to be a god. As long as you can keep up with our music, which is probably easier than you think, you'll be fine.
        - You don't have to contribute to the writing process either. Howvere  if you feeling like cihpping in and your style fits, then its all good

Our influences:  I'm not going to list bands, cuz that would take all day, if you like and play metal, then that's sufficient.

If you like what you hear, here's my email address (which doubles as an MSN): damien_morterra@hotmail.com

ALSO

We are looking for someone who can do some webdesign for our website at morterra.com. As you can tell if you've gone to it, the sight is currently down. We need someone who is dependable, efficient, relatively quick. You don't have to be a wiz at it, but just be able to build a sufficient website. And for cheap if not willin gto do it for free, cuz we're poor and have no money hahaha. What do you expect from a metal band ?! lol

Keep it heavy fuckers

PS: Thanks to all those who came out to the Profugus Mortis and Unexpect show. The night was an absolute killer, one of the best by far.

As I'm sure some of yuou have noticed, over the past week I have been overhauling the space to make it look more polished and easier to navigate. Here are some of the new features:

The Layout

Borders, colours, text. look at it.

Banners

There are two network banners and two contact table banners newly made for all of you to add to your profile. All you need to do is copy the text in the text box and paste it into your profile when your editing your "About Me" section. If you don;t know what a network banner is, think of that part that says "___ is in your extended network", the banner gets placed inside of that and erases the words.

Pics

Our lovely friend Tara took some time on saturday to do some quick promo pics. Check 'em out.

LYRICS!

I've posted the lyrics for the "Apocalypse Demo" CD and the "Marked In Stone" CD. All you need to do is click on the icon to access the lyrics.

comment or message me and let me know what you guys think of the new look. Feedback is always greatly appreciated. Keep it heavy guy..m/

Current mood:  drunk

As we see, once again, life has taken its control over my attention and has prohibited me to direct a great deal of time towards the myspace. I am now taking this opportunity to do so and apologize for the lack of updates.

AN EXPRESSION OF GRATITUDE:
As many of you probably already know, The CD release was on the 27th of January. And what many of you probably have already experienced was the awesome show that transpired on that night at the Underground. We'd like to thank Deathmarch (www.myspace.com/deathmarch666), Treachery (www.myspace.com/xtreacheryx) and Exkathedra (www.myspace.com/exkathedra). Thanks to all of you who came out and made this night a killler.

MARKED IN STONE:
The CD is available for $7. Just send us a message or get a hold of any one of the members to get your hands on one. If you live out of the area, I'm looking into putting the CD up on the internet so you can order it and get it shipped out.

SHIRTS:
Medium and Small Shirts are now available once again. Just ge a hold of any one of us to get one. Theyre $15, and these too, I will be looking to get them onto the internet so out-of-area fans can get their hands on some as well.

SHOWS:
As of right now, we have two upcoming shows:

February 23, 2007
At the Metal bar, More details TBA

March 24, 2007
The Underground (Hamilton) with Unexpect, Profugus Mortis, and Tugnut
Doors @ 9:30 PM, All Ages/Licensed   $10

The show that was supposed to occur on the 16th at the Funhaus with Deamon, Sordid and Nephelium is unfortunately, not going through.

ADIEU:
The myspace page is going to experience a complete overhaul... I hope. We here at Morterra are working on some new songs and some new exciting things that I hope will fall through. For now, that is all however. I would like to finally add the fact that our friend Trevor (of Bathed In Blood [Niagra]) is the first known person to have open wounds during a Morterra show; with a split lip, bruised rib, concussion and one hell of a bloody nose. Keep it heavy fuckers ..m/

1. THE PURE BEGINNING

[Instrumental]

2. THE PURE END

Denied of any sense of honor,
Thrown unto the pits of unrelenting Horror,
Pulled up into the world,
To end the road of Man
A force at hand...
To crush the final...
STAND

Manipulating…THE FINAL DEMENTED PROGRESSION

It shall be ordained, your courageous mind did fall,
The tides of darkness engulf the crown, the heretic shall
rule us all, Flee to the den of the drowned,
Retract the course, Spark The War To end all Wars

Let the Burning cleanse This hole,
Breath in the ashes of the dead, and dread the path of the soul,
The remnants derived of life shrouded in evil, forever mounting...

DENIAL

From Birth encased in fire
Death is incarnated in flesh, feigned as blameless…

Let the fires cleanse this hole,
Breathe in the ashes of the dead, and dread the path of the soul, The remnants derived of life shrouded in evil, forever unreason...

Damnation…

What was said and shall be done,
Death Shall be carved upon us, behold…

Flames will sweep the ashes, the ashes birth the sons of desolation,

Thus ends the plight of human spite...
Mercilessly defaced, legion of Judas amongst this dwindling race….
Our time will never be,
Traced Again…

Let the fires cleanse this hole,
Breathe in the ashes of the dead, and dread the path of the soul,
The remnants derived of life, shrouded in ruin, endless, eternal...
Void…

3. PARASTUS

Twisted blame breeds ancient fury,
To nullify all unworthy,

You curse the face of man,
The one who sieges the souls of the damned,
The arm from the skies drags out those souls,
Through the blood of these fools,

Young eyes will witness great fortresses fall,
Young hands will pulverize all…

You breathe parastus (You breathe parastus)
You bring war to us (You bring war to us)
You breathe parastus,
You've brought war to us…

War sifts into the darkness of the earth,
A demon storm the hells, where men burn so well,

Blood shall scorn the crest of the land of the lifeless,
As innocents make their final passage,

Through the mounds of the rotted blind

The fallen sons of the wasted legacy will attempt to control,
From the alter of travesty, seizing the throne,
Minds of evil calculating…

Where these eyes see,
Only my enemies…

We must not ever fail,
They would have us fall,
They would hold us till the ends of time,
Plummet, screaming from the pits of hell

Masses clasp, in feral torment,
My mind drifts instinctual ease,
My hands begin tremble,
But with these hands I hold the key,
The key to all salvation…

You Breathe Parastus…You've brought war to us…

4. TIRADE

Violently cast your plague upon us, callously confide in us to onset the raging lust, that will judge the winds of your abominable reason,
We'll stand vigilant before your ongoing treason

Ill gotten gains
Fuelling the ire
Piercing the heart with the psychotropic life
No sin to reconcile, yet no innocence

We condemn your futile intent,
The only bonds burned solely on the pyre of your regrets,
Vitriolic words take their toll in your pain
Forcing you to writhe in disarray

Ill gotten gains
Fuelling the ire
Piercing the heart of the psychotropic life
No sin to reconcile, yet no innocence

Faith to gods and angels, there are none here
Once strength surrounded you, there is none now
The fucking path is set, for our lives to bend,
Helpless, not hopeless… Repent…

Kill the trust that stood for years,
Scrape the rust out from the tears,
Witness the fall of the righteous,
Condemn us all to your fears…
Hear my words, you cannot rule what you don't fucking cage,
You will never possess the life you've thrown, away

Blunt miscontent
For your ill gotten gains
Amongst the charred remains, there will be no innocence

5. THE DEVIL'S LAUGHING JUDGE

Peace is a lie, preached under holy eyes,
Our limited future was bought and dyed for,

Bereft of mortal struggles, when all struggle to be immortal,
The guns you wield shall yield, to the sound of a thousand deaths,
Your empty words detest to forsaken blood,
Hesitant to resist the sleeping sun,
Becoming the Devil's Laughing Judge,

I'll follow heroes to the endless hell, and then a thousand will follow me,
Not but flies in the hunter's snare, bait for the prey, faith cast away

Drag you by sun washed, crimson entrails,
Friendly ballistics away, vaporized

A thousand hands pull away your limbs,
Drawn, quartered, bought and dyed for

Make way for your taste of
the dirt upon the path you take,
Filed down to the bitter sweet faith,
The devil laughs at your failure…

6. PANACEA

The time has come you see wrath of my destiny, I kill 'cuz of your past, your soul it will not last, I call you into my inner battle, our powers they clash, death rattles, like a fucking snake, your corpse it shakes, the faults of our lives, eat at us like flies, you are wretched, and now you cry, you wish for demise, 'cuz your life is a lie…Time to Die!

..:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I have released my pain, you loved it, I will be your taker, when beggars become the choosers!

I have released the beast, I have plagued your black world, I have let loose my dreams, reality halts your screams…

Tear Out Your Eyes, As I Swallow Your Lies!

You built your walls to guard your foolish mind, to stop the demons from getting inside, they come bearing a dawning standard, a flag to show that you never cared, I have not begun to speak my mind, the truth is I'll never let it fucking go, an angel inside a demon confined, I guide you to your death, the solution: panacea…

And Now It's Your Life, I Now End Your Strife, And By my own hand, I Foretell Your End.

Panacea!
