Mess+Noise, FBi Radio, Select Music and Mucho-Bravado present…
The frequent flyer miles have been piling up for the Hungry Kids of Hungary in 2009 as they zigzagged around the country on the heels of Bertie Blackman and Little Birdy as well as firming up friendships with the likes of Oh Mercy, Tom Ugly and Philadelphia Grand Jury and Washington on the massive triple j presented International Relations Tour. And that’s not to mention a slew of interstate appearances and festival slots at the likes of Big Day Out, Sounds of Spring, and Valley Fiesta.

Now it’s time for the Brisbane-four to stand on their own eight feet, fuel up the Tarago yet again and hit the road on their own merits for The Let You Down Easy National Tour, their first ever headline jaunt.

Encompassing 11 dates around the country, the tour is in support of a brand new single ‘Let You Down’, which is set for release on October 20. The lively ode to romantic woes follows three memorable singles: ‘Set It Right’, ‘Scattered Diamonds’ and the recent ‘Old Money’ that were each rewarded triple j rotation. These singles were all lifted from two EPs – Hungry Kids of Hungary (November 2008) and Mega Mountain (March 2009) – with ‘Let You Down’ being the first taste of things to come.
‘Let You Down’ is the sound of four Hungry Kids doing what they do best, delivering pure pop goodness in a neat package of their trademark, dual-harmony brilliance. The song was produced by Tony Buchen (Andy Bull, Macromantics, Blue King Brown, The Whitlams) in Sydney and channels a time when recordings were captured to tape, music was joyful and harmonies reigned supreme, even when accompanied by tales of heartbreak and loss.

Along with b-side ‘Study Hall’, the two freshly recorded tracks are a first taste of the new material being worked through in preparation for the debut HKoH album release in the first half of 2010.

The Let You Down Easy National Tour takes in 11 shows, across four states.
Melody makers DEEP SEA ARCADE and HKoH favourite BALL PARK MUSIC provide support for several dates, plus a host of super friends join in the fun for their respective local territories.

Hey all!

Some of you may be new to this mailing list.  A big fat welcome if you are! We probably warned you about getting random emails from the band and how weird we are etc, but really we are not that strange at all. We have a deep love for ironed hankies, female coughs and shotgun noises just like any normal person. Ahhh you see that's weird isn't it?! Yeh well, our minds have slowly become more warped from our touring this year. BUT, we like it that way!!

Anyone been to Big Sound before? It's one of the biggest music industry showcases in the world and it's right here in Fortitude Valley from Wednesday to Friday next wk. There are so many rad bands playing like Cloud Control and The Middle East and we are damn excited to be a part of it!! Our showcase is this Wednesday night, from 9pm- 9.30pm on the Artisan Gallery Outdoor Stage (opposite The Judith Wright Centre). We would love for you to come cheer us on and yell shit to impress the big wigs and industry people with blank faces and notebooks who may be in the audience. Shall be a hoot!

BIG SOUND SHOWCASE:
Wednesday, Sept 9
9:00 - 9:30pm - The Artisan Gallery Venue

The Bertie Blackman tour is now over and we made lots of new friends in many states over the last month. We missed planes, got swine flu, broke down in tears and had a damn good time doing it!! Probably the most memorable part of the tour for me was thinking up all the terrible things we could do to Manny, Bertie's drummer after he groped my bottom and groin in front of a rather large audience and made me cry and miss notes on my keyboard in my favourite song. We laughed our evil faces off as we plotted Manny's ultimate demise...but in the end we just put ice down his back on the final night of the tour. Lame huh. Anyway thanks to Bertie and crew for being such awesome companions the last month.

Phase Two = Little Birdy Theatre Tour!!!! This also starts next week (the night after Big Sound) and we are really excited to play at nice venues like the Forum and the Enmore and support great bands like Red Riders and LB. If you're coming along to these shows, rock up heaps early n stuff. I think we'll be on as soon as doors open. We'll have surprises and no there won't be any groping, hankies or ice!!
Toodles,

Kane

Ok guys much like Farnsey, we pre-empted our last time or rather our last round of voting, so like Jay-Z coming out of retirement, there is another chance to have a crack at the voting for us.  We're aware at this point that we're probably annoying the hell out of you with this ongoing spam but we promise to shut up for a while after this.

Hungry Kids of Hungary are down to the final two for The Courier Mail People's Choice Awards and need your vote to win.

Thanks to your fantastic support, Mexico City are in the final two of The Courier-Mail QSong People's Choice Awards. Thanks to all those who voted but we need to ask you to vote one last time to help us take out the award.
Remember to select "Hungry Kids of Hungary - Scattered Diamonds" from the drop down menu. Also don't forget you can vote multiple times using different email addresses. We highly recommend you do this if you don't mind spending a little extra time.

This is our last roll of the dice so even if you've already voted, please vote again. If you haven't voted before, well this is the one that counts. You'll be helping us out no end and will also go back in the draw to win a $2000 prize.

To listen to our song go to http://www.news.com.au/..couriermail/extras/qsong09.

DON'T FORGET TO SEND THIS TO YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS AND COLLEAGUES

The boys are hitting the road, bound for Tasmania on the first leg of the Bertie Blackman tour.  It's going to be quite the end of 2009 for them as they also tour the country with Little Birdy, play some big festivals, play the Q Song Awards and indulge in their first headline tour.

Wish us luck kids.

The good people at Ch V have been playing the Scattered Diamonds clip a lot lately thanks to you guys requesting it! Us hungry kids would just like to say thanks heaps for all your help!!  : -)

We will film another clip this Sunday in a crazy weird scary house somewhere in Brisbane. And we're going to dress up a little bit i think. There could be some pretty funny surprises in this one and more weird fake animals.

In other news, Dean is getting closer to nailing a flip on stage with his guitar strapped to him. Its kinda hard for him to sing at the same time, but we usually just do it in an instrumental breakdown. Training is continuing. I went to one of the sessions and met his trainer, Bruno.

Current mood:Egg...

Hello Everyone!

Ok so I was going to try and fit two weeks of touring into one compact and easy to use blog but there’s just way too much way cool information I need to tell you about so we’ll make this Part 2 with Part 3 to follow soon.

Tour blog go… NOW!

Myself and a Mister Ryan Strathie rolled into Toowoomba on Thursday (the day before good Friday) at about 3pm. We would be staying at my Grandparents joint for the night so we decided to stop in and say howdy. On the way to Toowoomba I stopped at a servo for a pie which was a terrible idea as it was now all over my shirt. So I greeted my Grandma looking like someone had performed a sick sex act (does 2 girls 1 cup ring a bell?) on me. My Nan actually said, “You look like one of the girls from that poo video…” No I’m just lying actually, that would be weird. After a shower and a good ol’ home cooked meal we arrived at Bon Amici’s to meet Kane and Dean and set up. All was going well until we discovered that we would have to man the door which neither of us has ever done. I must say that we were pretty good at it and we handled the power responsibly although we may have missed a couple of people's ID’s…whoops. The place was packed out anyway (which is all that matters!) and we all had a really cool night and met some super nice folks. BIG thank you to the very lovely Tickle’s from Little Scout for helping us with bouncy percussion duties!

Fridays gig was some of the most fun we've had in a long time, all of our friends partied with us and the Valley Studio’s was the only place open which made the night kinda special. Another BIG thank you to Drew and Ash for keeping the joint open for us all! Megan opened the night playing solo and instantly silenced the chatty crowd with her superbly soulful songs. And the Philly Jay’s kicked ass and worked the crowd into a frenzy! We closed the night off in our favorite home town with a John Lennon cover of ‘Instant Karma’ with the help of our friends from the Philly Jay’s, Drawn from Bee’s, Skinny Jean and Ed G. What a night!

Saturday night’s show was at the Airport tavern at the Gold Coast. Initially we were a little worried if anyone was going to come but it turned out to be a really cool night. We even had a chance to play a little Big Game Hunter which has been a running theme of ours. Almost every venue we played at had this game and we all sucked at it. I guess deep down we really don’t want to hurt wildlife. We all stayed at Tweed Heads in the same room and we had a couple of guest snorers. Another BIG thanks to mine and Ryan’s Dads who came out to drink beer… I mean support us haha.

Easter Sunday and a 5 hour drive to Coffs Harbour. By this stage we were all a bit pooped but we soon pepped up when we discovered Time Crisis 2 in the band room. Everyone got addicted to this game and I think Megan spent a small fortune on it. She did get very good at it though. I think she should enter a gaming tournament, she’d kick ass. Anyway, we all had a big ol’ heap of fun and during our set I even threw the crowd out some chocolates that we attained thanks to some friendly locals who know how to break into a skill tester. At the end of the set we pulled a bunch of people on stage for percussion duties and we all had a bit of a dance to John Lennon again. We finished the night off in our cozy backpackers room watching Tango and Cash. One of the baddies in that movie has a grotesquely shaped chin… I think it’s a tumor.

That's it from me, sorry about the length.

ben.

Here's some happy snaps we took whilst on the road.

Hello,

Scattered diamonds is itunes single of the week as of right now. That means its a free download!

In other news, I have recently adopted 3 sock monkeys- but I tell ya i am sick of their ongoing demands and dietary requirements. Who do they think they are, movie stars? Plus they stare at me at night and frankly they may have to learn to be an outside pet.... hmmmmmmm

Their starring role - HERE
