Hey everyone,

It was only a matter of time until we released our logo as part of our designs. We wanted to build up an audience who could appreciate the brand, before we just started knocking things out there with our identity.

This new shirt comes in our classic colors of Blood Red, Night Black, Pure White, and Bright Blue. This retails for a price of $24 instead of our usually $28. You'll start to notice as we expand the plan is to have shirts at 3 basic price levels. One for our standard signature shirts, one for the current season's designs, and one for limited editions. This is the start of our signature designs.

We also knocked down the prices of our older designs so be sure to check out our webstore!

Keep living your dreams,
Alex

PS-This design comes in Men's XL!

Heeey!

A week or so ago I met with Christopher Muther from The Boston Globe to talk about the line. We met up at JP Licks in Brigham Circle to discuss DPM for an article he was doing on local t-shirt designers. He mentioned I would be one of 5 featured for the article.

Next thing I knew I was hanging out with Jason Dove, their resident photographer, to take some photos of Dance Party Massacre, and of myself too! It was really awesome meeting up with them. They were great guys and I appreciated them taking the time to talk with me.

And now the article is up in TODAY'S Boston Globe! There is a blurb on the top left of the front cover (featuring our Something's After Us design) with an article on DPM and myself on D5. Be sure to check it out in person or go to the links below.

Let's get it going,

DANCE PARTY MASSACRE
The connection between dance parties, T-shirts, and campy 1980s slasher flicks may seem about as random as the link between a Rob Schneider movie and the Oscars, but it makes perfect sense to 24-year-old designer Alex Dakoulas.

"You go to a dance party, and everyone there is young. You watch slasher films, and they're all about young people having fun," Dakoulas explains. "They don't think they're doing anything wrong, and then they get killed for it."

The concept behind Dance Party Massacre, which features tees with images such as a knife through a high-top sneaker and the infamous "Halloween" hockey mask, was cemented during Dakoulas's senior year at the Massachusetts College of Art. In his studio apartment, he hosted screenings of horror movies, followed by dance parties. He's quite clear that he's not trying to make scary horror tees. Dance Party Massacre shirts are bright, hip party shirts that just happen to be inspired by the art on boxes of old VHS slasher tapes. Dakoulas, who works as a sneaker designer at Converse, wants to get the gore on the shirts, but he doesn't want to scare away potential customers.

"My friends want to support me," Dakoulas says. "But at the same time they're always asking 'Can't you make something without blood on it?' "

Hello gal and ghouls,

And I use that term appropriately because this Thursday will be a time to get out your Halloween costumes and prepare for some scary fun. Our House West is holding a Halloween in July complete with costumes, giveaways, and prizes. And yes, one of those prizes will be some free gear from Dance Party Massacre!

Our House West is one of the best bars in Boston because of how comfortable it'll make you feel. They don't call it "our house" for nothing. There's couches to crash on, board games to play, foosball and pool tables, video games, TVs, and affordable drinks and food. Maybe we can start up a dance party to make things even more like home!

If Allston doesn't know about DPM by Thursday, then you all are lost because this will be the 3rd event we have inside you in about a month! But we love you, and that's why we keep coming back.

Keep in mind LAB Boston in Allston is the only store in the area currently carrying the line, so if you want to see our gear in person head on over!

See you Thursday!
Alex

Hey everyone!

Thursday night was a blast. It was a great atmosphere and we met some awesome people. I hope you all enjoyed your free stuff and we get to see you again!

The photos by Lara Callahan are now online. You can view them on our website and the full set over at Two Lip Magazine. DPM representation was in full-effect which you can tell by the pictures! We love seeing people wearing our stuff so keep it coming!

We have more events planned for the future so keep checking back in! You can subscribe to our blog here if you want.

Much love,
Alex

Hey everyone,

A week from today we'll be sponsoring the dance night Compound. This monthly party jumps around in Boston and this time it takes place at Great Scott in Allston. That's Thursday night starting at 8:30 PM at 1222 Commonwealth Ave.

They'll be live bands, live DJs, a photographer who we assume will be alive, and us who we hope will still be living by then. But that's right, a photographer! So dress to impress—like wearing your DPM gear!

We'll be sponsoring the night by giving out free promo packs and some free clothing to lucky winners!

RSVP to the Facebook event here.

Hey guys,

I want to extend a big thanks to everyone who came out last Saturday! SERIOUSLY!

You make a clothing line for it to be seen and people out there to wear it. We can continue doing our own thing and having our own parties, selling the stuff ourselves, but the goal is for other stores to carry it. We want to expand and with LAB Boston carrying it in our hometown it's a great start.

To see people, fans and new customers alike, come in off the street and check us out was awesome. We really appreciated the support. I, personally, met some really cool people and got to catch up with others I hadn't seen in a while.

One of the best things was our fan Hazey bringing us this custom made DPM munny! How cool is that?!

Big thanks to Kim from LAB for hooking us up, DJ Nato for providing the music, and Red Bull for making me jittery.

You can view photos from the party on our website!

Keep spreading the blood,
Alex

Hello final girls and boys,

From the earliest stages of this brand it's always been about fear. It's about acknowledging it, and embracing it. It's about overcoming it and living our lives. Why are we afraid to dance? Why can't we just be ourselves? What's holding us back? What demons to we have to kill?!

I think if you get close enough to people you'd find that many of us share common fears, concerns, thoughts, and reservations. As humans we instinctively are more alike than we may realize. While we may feel alone in the dark sometimes, we all have things keeping us down.

At the first party we held we brought this idea right out in the open with a wall reserved for people to jot down what scares them. We used it again after that and now we've brought it to the internet.

Two months ago Dance Party Massacre launched it's What are U afraid of? campaign. You may have noticed the stickers around your city, or seen an ad pop-up on a website, or found the clue in one of our mysterious bulletins.

We started it up as a social experiment—posing a pretty standard question and seeing what the response would be. It's still mostly out of our hands and what will become of the website is still left to be seen. I always thought it would turn into a way of sharing concerns and connecting with others. It's a dark anonymous place where we can shout out what's wrong in our lives and feel safe about it.

The small, suspicious stickers that you stumble upon around the city not only act as a catalyst to find out what this is all about, but we hope that it makes people stop and evaluate it into their own lives right then and there. The question could be about a fear of clowns, but it could mean more than that.

So go on and join in. What are U afraid of?!

Never stop asking,
Alex

Oohh hey what's up?

Turns out this little Boston line is making its way into Boston stores! The first shop in Greater Boston is now carrying Dance Party Massacre, and we're having a release party to celebrate! Big thanks to LAB Boston in Allston for believing in us!

Come join us on Saturday, June 21st from 7—9:30PM at LAB to check out the line (purchase some stuff?), dance to some beats by DJ Nato, have some free drinks and food, and grab up some free promo stuff!

I think I say this about every event we're a part of, but this is a really great thing! Hopefully this will help spread the blood of DPM, and we'd love to see you all there. That's you Scream Team!

Why hello hello,

For some of you past customers, you already know about what I am going to tell the rest of the kids out there. Dance Party Massacre is officially starting up our Scream Team!

The Scream Team is the crew that backs us up. They believe in the line, the message, and, of course, the clothing. It's you fans out there who care more about us than the casual buyer. If we were being stalked by Freddy, or chomped on by a zombie, the Scream Team would get that sucka!

You are a group of people who help Dance Party Massacre by supporting it, promoting it, becoming more involved, and hopefully having some fun too!

I say that some of you are already aware of the Scream Team, because about 2 weeks ago we sent out a slew of packages to people! It's already begun!

Right now we're looking for people in big cities of America to get at us. If you're interested in helping promote the line by getting some free promo items, just e-mail your name and address to screamteam@dancepartymassacre.com. We're really counting on you guys from Boston to contact us to keep it going in our hometown. We're definitely starting up the NEW Boston Massacre!

For people who don't fit in that category, you can easily help us out by posting one of the buttons or banners below onto your myspace, message board, website—wherever! In time more will be happening, but for now this is what we need from you Scream Team!

Thanks so much everyone!
SCREAM YOUR HEAD OFF!

-Alex

PS-You can always add us to your Top Friends too!

Hey there gals and ghouls,

We've teamed up with dance parties and websites in the past for events and giveaways, but this one is probably the most creative!

Fatally Yours is holding a Friday the 13th Battle of Blood contest where you have to take a picture of yourself recreating a death scene from any of the numerous Friday the 13th movies. The one who kills it best wins a bloody prize pack including free swag (Ya, we can use that word) from us!

We don't think yours has to be an lolimage, but I wish it did. I almost peed my pants when I saw this pic posted on their contest page.

Read all the details of the competition here.

Bloody bye bye,
Alex
