Just wanted to type a bit about CCC. Not sure if anyone even reads this. I'm not a "blogger".
I had worked the mile 80 aid station in 2007 and that inspired me to sign up and run it again. The race is said to be one of the tougher 100's but I don't know for sure because this was the only one I've done.
I started out real easy, running and chatting with Rob Hester and Al Harman before we started the first climb. I got in the middle of the train and settled in up the mountain. The first 30 miles were hard mentally for me. I think knowing that I had to go 100 miles had me doubting myself but after 30 miles it got easier. Mile 10ish through 40 I ran a lot with Marty Fagan. I think I caught up to Van around then and we see-sawed up 68 or so.
I felt good fumbling through the trail from hell and the climb up to 80 then rolling through the cardiac needles. The last 10 miles or so Johnathan Bernard and I ran together. It was great to have some company the last stretch. We talked and ran most of the way in to the finish. Thanks JB if your out there!
My friend aNnIe! was at the finish and had my Bud Light waiting for me! Oh what a treat!
The organization is top notch at this event. The aid stations where great, they had plenty of food - drink and entertainment! Lots of friends and a fun weekend of running!
