Hello everyone. I've moved to New York. I'm not really making Ris Paul Ric musics anymore. But I am making new other-jams and will holler when they're ready. How are you doing? Very best wishes, Ris

I shouldn't of left you/ without some acoustic guitar and delay effects to step to. Ris Paul Ric has been booked/reanimated to open for Ted Leo and his Pharmacists in early December. Old songs, new songs and cover jams will be the order of the day. Also: Mad late to the party, but I have a Snocap link if you wanna spend some of Macy's gift card money on my musics. Hope 2007 continues to be sweet to you. XXRIS

Everybody should check out the Rubber Bullets mixtape I made with my boy Dave Nada. He and I are starting a band, and DJing in the interim. The mix is full of DC shit, Bmore shit, smash-ups, original materials, etc. You can hear some of it on the Rubber Bullets myspace page and buy one via PayPal. Get it! Nada and I will also be up in NYC for CMJ to spin some shows, afterparties, hotel lobbies. Check the Rubber Bullets page for details on that. And regarding the band - it's still in the makings. Potential Cassies, Yummy Binghams, Shareefas and Ciaras need to get at us. That said - I'll be taking a break from the Ris music for a while. I wrote a bucket of songs a couple weeks ago, but I want to marinate on them for a while. Fall back....

Fort Reno is here.
Everytime I wanna go, it rains.
Hopefully not Thursday, though.
I'm performing - very quietly.
There will be a cover (or covers) of summer songs.
Let's do this!
Chris

Happy summertime. I'm DJing Electrotease at DC9 this weekend. DeepCeePeePullBeeDurr! Meantime: heatrock makings with D'Nada continue into the hot months. We're still making the band. Cassies, Rihannas, Cherishes, apply within. OBEY RICK ROSS. xxRIS

This weekend the Honda points north towards the lovely climes of Canada for a one-two visit to Toronto and Montreal. If you're reading this in Canada, I hope to see you there.
As for the rest of the world, I'm going to be taking a break from the Ris-life for a while. I hope to play Fort Reno this summer, and hopefully write some new music, for this project as well as the new band I'm starting.
Hope to see you this weekend....

No news is good news?
No shows confirmed at the moment, but there are some things in the works. Some college shows. A festival. Things on the east coast. Shows in another country. More shows in another country, after that.
In other no-news: The beatmakings continue with my talented colleague Dave Nada. Still looking for someone to help with the singing (see the old post - aspiring Ciaras, Ameries, RemyMas, LBoogies or LisaLisa2006s get at me). Regardless, we should be operational in time to play your summer house party. JYEAH.
Soul Jazz just issued a compilation of Tropicalia musics, and it's brilliantly done. Coppit. Some of my favorite music ever. I spent a fortune buying all the albums in Japan three years ago, but now you don't have to do that.
Also spinning:
DJ Ayres "Glamorous Life 2" and "Houston For Dummies" mixtapes,
the new Isaac Hayes collection,
Morricone's "Crime and Dissonance" comp on Ipecac,
"Baltimore Gutter Music" by Aaron LaCrate and Low B,
Julia Saar and Patrics Larose "Set Luna"
and Taco's "Puttin On the Ritz." (Taco= evil Arthur Russell. Anyone?)
Love to all ...
Ris

Thanks to all the 006ers who made it out to the DC gig this weekend. I was so happy to see everyone in the bldg, shaking tailfeathers to Supersystem. And to my Chapel Hill area folks, thank you too. A nice way to start off the year. One more show in Philly, and then some other eastcoastery this spring. Perhaps other places if I can find a way to fly there.
Now a moment to reflect on the cornucopia of sonic fruits from 2005.
Yeah I loved StayFly and 1Thing, and GoCrazy and HungUp just like you, but let's stick to albums to keep this from being EPIC.....
Artist - album - when I remember listening to it. (in no order).
Supersystem - Always Never Again - always and everytime after seeing them cook that crack live on stage.
Daniel Wang - Idealism - driving around downtown LA at night with the air conditioning on full blast when it was already plenty cool outside.
Rod Lee - The Official Vol. 5 - loud in a parking lot in almost-rural Massachusettes and then across the plains of Iowa as if my car stereo was bringing the Bmore club apocalypse.
Tony Hussle - Sexy Freaky Electric - feeling sexy while doing 9-5 office work in the final days of 2005.
Colleen - The Golden Morning Breaks - at bedtime.
Outhud - Let Us Never Speak of It Again - listening to the last minute of Old Nude over and over and over again while driving over the Chesapeake Bay bridge on Easter Sunday.
Gang Gang Dance - God's Money - while jogging.
Animal Collective - Feels - while driving past these crazy vine-plant-formations on 95 in Georgia and South Carolina.
Ellen Allien - Thrills - while jogging past the White House last summer.
Eno & Cluster - (reissue) - while trying to decide what to wear to work every morning in August.
Queen Mob demo - while driving past runners in the Columbus marathon.
Mariah Carey - Emancipation of Mimi - Singing along like crazy to Shake It Off at a stop light on U street, when a car pulls up next to me to ask for directions. But after seeing me wriggle in my seat they ask: "What are you listening to?" Me: "MIMI!!!"
Run the Road comp - all year long with my mouth agape.
Rhythm and Sound - Si Mi Yah - in the car before my first Nationals baseball game on a swealtering July day and not wanting to get out of the car until the disc was over.
Juan MacLean - Less Than Human - any and everytime my girl and I got dressed to go out in the second half of 2005.
Slim Thug - Already Platinum - with all of my bandmates in the van while we waited for the sound technicians to show up at Fort Reno.
MIA- Arular - wishing I had bought it on CD instead of LP.
Amerie - Touch - in the rain in Boston and trying to imagine the rain beating down on me in time with the drums.
And probably a lot more I forgot about for now.....
Until then....

Pardon the late minute update, but I'm playing three times in the next 48 hours.
Opening for some dudes I've admired since I was a youngster, plus a rescheduled show.
Also: More shows in the cold months.
Bundle up....
