Woodstock, Ill. –The Woodstock Musical Theatre Company and TownSquare Players, resident companies of the Woodstock Opera House located in historic Woodstock, Illinois, originally announced the sale of our 2007-2008 theatrical season tickets in early July – there is still time to get in your order before the season starts!  Season Tickets are a wonderful value to our community, securing a great seat at a discounted price for 4 wonderful productions from October thru April.  The theatre season offers something for everyone, from Comedy and Mysteries to Musicals and Family traditions.

The 2007–2008 Season at the Woodstock Opera House Season includes:

• Lend Me a Tenor by Ken Ludwig, comedy, weekends October 5-27, 2007 – A classic farce surrounding the appearance of a world famous tenor at the Cleveland Opera Company and the hilarious mix-ups that ensue when it is believed he has died right before the most important performance in the company's history.
• State Fair by Rodgers and Hammerstein, musical, weekends November 2-18, 2007 – State Fair travels with the Frake family as they leave behind life on the farm for three days of adventure at the annual Iowa State Fair. Warm-hearted entertainment as only Rodgers and Hammerstein can deliver.
• Sabrina Fair by Samuel A. Taylor, comedy, weekends February 29 – March 16, 2007 -  A romantic comedy set on the north ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />shore of Long Island, this play is the basis for the 1964 Audrey Hepburn movie and the 1995 remake starring Harrison Ford
• A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, by Bert Shevelove and Larry Gelbart, music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, musical comedy, weekends April 4 – 26, 2007 – Ancient Rome takes its licks in Broadway's funniest and wackiest farces – the perfect escape from life's troubles!
• In addition to the regular Season Ticket – WMTC will present Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol as their Holiday Production* – November 29 – December 2, 2007 - Join Ebenezer Scrooge on this classic journey with ghostly guides through Christmas' past, present and future. Tickets are $23 adults and $20 children and available to purchase at the box office .

* The holiday production is not included in the season ticket package.

The Woodstock Opera House has been home to the TownSquare Players (TSP) and the Woodstock Musical Theatre Company (WMTC) for more than 39 years. Their joint five-production theatrical season is driven by volunteer actors and artistic/technical staff for each production, October through April. The members of WMTC and TSP come from our community of talented professionals.

Woodstock Musical Theatre Company announces open auditions for their production of A Christmas Carol to be performed at the Woodstock Opera House on Sun, Sept 23 and Weds, Sept 26 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Woodstock Opera House, Calhoun Street Stage Entrance. No appointment is necessary. Please wear clothes and shoes you can move in and be prepared to sing a Christmas carol of your choice, dance, do some improvisation and read portions of the script with other actors. Rehearsals will take place in Woodstock evenings three to four times a week.

Performance dates are ONE weekend opening Thursday, November 29 and closing Sunday, December 2, 2007.  Shows are Thursday and Friday at 8:00 pm, Saturday at 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm and Sunday at 1:00 pm and 6:00 pm for a total of 6 performances.

Director Kathie Comella and Choreographer Beth Davis Johnson require an ensemble cast of 20; all cast members play more than one role.  There are many quick costume, character and voice changes, which make for fun and challenging parts for actors.  All parts have lines and sing songs; there are no chorus or background persons. The part of Scrooge is precast; all other roles are open. Men:  Bob Cratchit (30-50), Nephew Fred (25-35), Marley's Ghost (dead), Christmas Present (large & jolly), Mr. Fezziwig (40-60), Dick Wilkins (25-35), Topper (25-35). Women: Christmas Past (adult), Mrs. Cratchit (30-50), Mrs. Fezziwig (40-60), Belle Fezziwig (25-35). Children: Peter Cratchit (14-16), David Cratchit (10-12), Tiny Tim (6-7), Martha Cratchit (16-18), Belinda Cratchit (12-14), Agatha Cratchit (8-10), Nell (10-12).  Man or Woman:  Christmas Future (adult). Both English and Cockney accents are necessary for all parts in this play.
