Izzy Foreal, in inspirational mood, says: "The Zarsoffs will never die - it's just a matter of catching the undertaker each time he tries to lower the coffin into the ground, to remind him that there seems to be life in the beast still."

I can't post any more Zarsoff Brothers music on our MySpace site, since they did the deal with the record giants - even though I've asked that our label (Browneye) be accepted. MySpace have simply replied with "Problem solved" - which simply isn't true. I can't add any more songs to the site. Does anyone know a MySpace-style provider who will let me do this (if I find one I suggest we all go over to wherever it is).

Late December 2008: Pete Jaggle, the drummer who plays with Izzy in the Hillbilly Blues Bandits and is Director of the Young Drums percussion ensemble (amongst other extremely worthy projects), now has a CD with the material for the Zarsoffs mini-tour idea, and negotiations are under way to organize a rehearsal early in 2009. Everybody is busy with other projects, of course, including Izzy, but this Zarsoffs project remains on the board and may yet find its wings.

Well, the next potential drummer off the rack for the Rory / Izzy project of selected Zarsoff gigs around south-east Queensland & Northern NSW has come and gone - and he didn't even make the rehearsal! (Well ... he arrived at the rehearsal after everyone else had finished ...). Rory has used up all his drummer credit points, so now Izzy will be casting his net amidst those players he's been performing with in the Border Region for the past three years or so. This show isn't rocket science, folks, but passing the audition seems to be. Luckily, Izzy has plenty of other music to play, and the Zarsoff project is just an interesting possibility, & chance for a lot of fun at this stage. Anybody know any drummers up this way who could cut the mustard?

Well folks, 'Wrecksy Zarsoff' didn't make it past the first rehearsal for the lineup of this possible mini-tour, as he's too busy being popular around the Northern Rivers, but another drummer (the third for this project so far) has been recruited for the next rehearsal(s) set for December 1st and 8th. My my, it's a difficult thing to dig up dinosaur bones, though Izzy is somehow mildly excited about performing some of the tunes from the band's two studio albums. But then, Izzy is excited by a lot of things other people fail to even notice!

Yes, folks, Izzy Foreal and Rory Zarsoff (the band's second lead guitarist from the late 1980s) just had their first rehearsal at Nerang (Queensland), for some possible dates around south east Queensland and Northern Rivers NSW. The line up at present is Willy Qua (Willy Zarsoff) on sax (he played for a brief time in the band in the late 80s), Rex Carter (Wrecksy Zarsoff) on drums, Paul (Sparky Zarsoff) on keys, Rory and Izzy. The first run through went well, though Izzy's official version of the band is the lineup who toured to promote the 2005 album 'Mixed Business', and who wait patiently down south for the signal to record the next studio album.  Can Izzy fit this project in between all his other musical activities? And will anyone book these infamous dinosaurs? Stay tuned for the next exciting episode of 'The Adventures of Izzy Foreal'.

Rory Zarsoff, the band's second lead guitarist, phoned up out of the blue again recently talking the talk about a possible 'reunion' tour of earlier lineups of the band doing some dates down the east coast from Queensland to perhaps Sydney. All sorts of possible lineups were discussed, but Izzy's preference is for the version of the band that took the 'Mixed Business' album on the road in 05, plus Rory to add an unusual slant to the newer songs, and of course, his expertise to the classic Zarsoff stuff. At the moment it's just talk, but that can often lead to something happening in the real world. My dear readers, I remind you here of my (possibly) overriding philosophy: 'The journey is the destination' (I said that).

Izzy has recently heard from The Zarsoff Brothers first drummer Terry Zarsoff, who is now an author and has started writing a novel based on the adventures of The Zarsoff Brothers in their early days, including before they actually became The Zarsoff Brothers. None of the drafts can be made public as there could be pending publication for the finished book, but what Izzy has seen is very clever and funny and so close to the truth it reads like a fantasy novel. More news as it comes to hand.

During his summer sojourn through the backblocks of Queensland, Izzy accidently encountered the Zarsoffs' second drummer, Rocky Zarsoff (Warwick Kennington), playing in the Grand View Hotel at Emu Point. Not one to miss an opportunity to perform, Izzy sat in with Rocky's band 'The Swing Thing' for a couple of songs ('Wealth of Poverty' and 'Handyman' - which was the Zarsoffs' first single). Rocky and Izzy haven't played together since about 1980, and the series of events that got Izzy to the Grand View exactly as 'The Swing Thing' started to play would send paranormalists batty. It was a rare event indeed. Coming on the heels of a phone call out of the blue from Rory Zarsoff (the Zarsoffs' second lead guitarist) only a matter of days earlier, it was also a weirdly fortuitous event that may see some hybrid Zarsoff reunions in the not-too-distant future. Stay tuned.
