Here’s what’s happening.  Are you ready?  Get out your pens and paper and take brief notes on everything that proceeds.  Write on a small surface area so you can fold it up and carry it in your wallet or purse, just in case you are unable to recall the information off the top of your head, and you have no immediate access to a computer with the internet.

Need help?  Not quite sure on what to focus on yet?  Here are a few tips to guarantee you don’t miss anything important.

Tip One -  Focus on LOCATION OF SHOWS.   If you read through the blog and notice that there is a performance in your area, take note.  If the show is nowhere near you, you still might still want to make a scribble.  Use subsequent time to try and plan and budget a trip, if at all possible.

Tip Two-  The DATE is great to know.  If you are employed by, or are an employer of a company, married, are on probation (what’s the difference between those two huh?  I mean, come on. Am I right guys?), or have any ‘responsibilities’ or ‘obligations’ of any kind, knowing the DATE is critical.  You will need to inform the necessary of your imminent commitment.  A note is perfect for reminding yourself the DATE moments before you request, or notify someone of, your absence.

Tip Three-  Iiiit’s SHOWTIME!  Aside from one daylight savings technicality, there are exactly 24 hours in a day.  Granted, most shows happen sometime in the evening but there are exceptions.  Remember, assuming makes an ass out of you and me (ass u me).  The TIME is even more important to note if you are traveling either a considerable distance, or almost no distance at all.   If you miss a show because you ‘spaced it’, that’s just as inexcusable as missing the performance.

So; with your pen and paper in hand, and the Three Tips in mind…

It’s December.  Doesn’t much feel like it.  It was sixty degrees yesterday.  January will be spent in a place I’ve never felt, any month of the year.  It’s nice to be somewhere for the first time.  It’s been a while.

Before all that happens, there are some commitments to take care of in the United States of America.  Actually, one commitment in particular took care of itself.  The show that was posted for December 12th has been cancelled.  I don’t think there’s anything to say to that except for the fact that I was really looking forward to it.  There was even a really cool poster for it with eyeballs all over it.  This is upsetting.

The other two shows this month are definitely happening.  The first of which is at the MAIN STREET MUSEUM in WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, VERMONT.  It’s going to start around SEVEN.  We will be sharing the stage with some great artists including The Jobz and The Jonee Earthquake Band.  Of course, the LoFi Brothers and Sisters will be showcasing their tremendous talents as well.  Tony, Hannah, Dave, Shayna…I’m very excited and thinking very fondly of all of our Bank Street memories.  I miss that damned place.

From there we’re going to be playing in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania at our most favorite venue, Café Metropolis.  That show is on Monday, The 21st. I was just on their website and it looks like we’re playing with TBA.  I hear they’re pretty good.  I also hear that River City Rebels (Acoustic) is fucking amazing.

If you guys aren't doing anything this weekend and you live in the greater New England area I strongly suggest you come see one, or both of our performances.  They're both at a great location called Snapper Magees.

Friday's in Kingston, New York which is just an hour north of New York City and Saturday will be in Torrington, Ct.  I can't remember the last time we played in Connecticut.  Come out and say hello.

Who's comin?

Good evening,

Europe is a complete go.  The flights are booked, the bags are...well..not quite packed yet but...you know what I mean.  There are dates confirmed in January that we will be posting sometime next week.

It's been almost ten years since Dan and myself have been touring with The River City Rebels and it's really starting to feel like the first one all over again.  The prospects of visiting new places, meeting new people, and most importantly, having music to share with everyone is exciting.  Everything that leads up to actually getting on the plane and taking off is the daunting part.

I would really like to start a street team in Europe.  If you're reading this and live overseas, get in touch with us.  We're going to really need to spread the word with posters and through word of mouth to make each show the best it can be.

If this is months down the road and you saw us play and came to visit our myspace and are scrolling through the archives, then I know we've done our job.

What's everyone else up to?

Good morning.

You know it's really been a while since you've written a blog when the last blog mentions that it's been a while since the last blog.  I don't even know how many people use this whole Myspace thing anymore.  I still haven't really gotten my feet wet with the whole facebook thing there.  I don't really know how things work over there but I do know there aren't any blogs and you can have your own farm.

Well to the people still frequenting this site, and our page in particular, hello.  There's so much to catch up on.  Let's see.  Well we have a show in Lewiston, Maine tomorrow.  I'm looking forward to it.  I'm not looking foward to all that Labor Day traffic though, but what can you do.

The show will be a reunion of sorts for the band, as Patrick and Rob no longer reside with us up here in Lebanon, New Hampshire.  The last time we played as a band was a few weeks back when we played in Wilkes Barre, which was great as usual by the way.

I just noticed that our blog just passed the 100,000 views mark.  I'm impressed.

We just finnished recording another full length record.  SeanDave came up to record it and it was very successful.  I dont know exactly when we'll be posting anything or when it will be available.  Right now it's a one step at a time process. The record is recorded and mixed, now it's time for mastering and creating the artwork and packaging, which our #2 man Zak Kaplan is going to be in charge of.

Our January tour to Europe is looking better each day.  There are even a few dates that have been confirmed, which is exciting.  It's something we've always wanted to do and we set it as a short term goal a few months ago and we're right on schedual.  I'm impressed once again.

I could sit on here and complain about this that and the other that's been going on.  It definatley hasn't been easy living around here but we're getting by.  The music we just recorded is fantastic motivation to keep moving foward.

I miss all of you.  It's really nice to have met so many wonderful people over the course of the last ten years.  I wish I was better at keeping in touch with you all....maybe I should get a facebook.  That way I could at least type a few words on your wall every now and then to show i was thinking of you.   Ok I also know what a 'wall' is...or at least i think i do.

Here's to the next 100,000 views!

Brandon.

Hey Lovers and such,

It's been a while since I've written so here goes. I list some random and relevant shit.

1. The Next album has been Demoed. We are locking Ourselves away July 8th until Aug 14th to record with our 5th member/sound boy toy Sean Dave. The world shall see "Down in the Basement" early 2010.

2. Our last record In love/Loveless is being printed on vinyl. More details  on that as i get them.

3. The rebels hung out at Bonnaroo a few weeks back. Fuck. Never again. To many fuckers there. I caught Springsteen, Lucinda Williams and the highlight of the weekend Alejandro Escovedo. If you haven't heard of him do yourself a favor and look into it. The man has amazing story and is the reason why I love doing what i do.

4. Do guys have facebook???? Hit me up Just look for Daniel O'Day   My profile pic is me and my telecaster.

5. ummmmmm  That might be it. We have a few shows this summer. One in Vermont and one in Wilksbarre, PA... Ohhhhh I just got my passport. You will be seeing the rebels January 2010 in Europe.

6. When I'm not working on rebels music i make music with Tony Hill. http://www.myspace.com/lofitonyhill   Do me a favor and take a listen. This guy is one of my favorite song writers and a very very dear friend.  Add him as a friend. Give him some

Current mood:  thirsty
Hello, hello, hello from Richmond, VA! I personally have only been here once before but my activities here in the past have mirrored those I've undergone so far: drive, hunt for parking, go down to the island on the St. James river, go home and get fantastically drunk, drive through the night. This particular occasion requires an insert: there will be a show tonight at Nara sushi restaurant. This to me sounds like heaven on earth: a nice joint in a college town that serves sushi, pours a full bar, AND hosts rock and roll shows. From what I hear, the last time the Rebels played at Nara the owner absolutely loved it. I can only hope this equals a huge payoff in complimentary raw fish delights. Sushi turns me on in a very singular way. This may very well be the show that sustains me through the final five days of the tour.

Oh god, I'm salivating like a maniac.

The shows since my last report have been small-ish but incredibly positive. Thanks again to those of you who've come out, especially to Suzi and Michelle. Those beautiful dames followed us all he way from Jacksonville, FL to Raleigh, NC, and it was a pleasure to have two true-blue and warm-hearted (not to mention attractive) Rebels fans along for the ride.

It has come to my attention that I may have neglected Nebraska in my tour commentary. To Lincoln and Omaha: thank you for being unexpectedly fantastic. I know I mentioned in my own personal blog how ecstatic of an experience it was to play for what finally felt like an audience of critical peers in Omaha. Nebraska treated us very very well, and I can't imagine another American Rebels tour that would skip that state over.

Florida, namely Sarasota, was weird for me. 'Nuff said. Especially if you saw either of the FL shows. Chalk it up to stage fright in the home court.

It was wonderful, however, to play a couple shows in North Carolina. NC is the state I personally consider home. Every time I cross over that border I feel like it's easier to breathe. Muchas gracias to Richard Bacchus and the Luckiest Girls for breaking my heart with your songs, to the Southside Punx and Fishnet Stalkers for playing punk I actually enjoyed to a poser such as myself, to No Revolution (esp. Dave and Melissa) for housing us, and to Aaron of Revolution Radio for playing with us so inspirationally (and for feeding me so damn well).

I get the feeling it's about business time, so I'll go for now. Please introduce yourself to me either here in Richmond or in Brooklyn, Wilks-Barre, or Bayonne.

Much love,
Sara

Current mood:  cranky
On the hilariously brilliant HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm, Larry David once said, "You're unhappy. I'm unhappy too. Have you heard of Henry Clay? He was the Great Compromiser. A good compromise is when both parties are dissatisfied, and I think that's what we have here."

In 2002, Bopper offered me $2,000 to leave Worthless United and join the River City Rebels, to which I graciously declined.  A year or so later he offered me $1,000 but at this point I was in The Ratchets, so yet again I had to say no.  Last year I was offered $500 and I realized that either these guys really don't understand the concept of how to negotiate a deal or my value as a guitar player is greatly deteriorating.  I have a feeling it's a little of both.

Last month the Rebels asked me if I would like to join them onstage at their upcoming Wilkes Barre, PA show.  I asked how much they were paying and they said nothing!  I said I would only do it if I could play the next day in Bayonne, New Jersey with them as well.  I guess neither parties are very good at negotiating or both of our values are deteriorating.  Once again...it's probably a little bit of both!

So there you have it.  After nearly 7 years of scheming and plotting I am proud to announce that I will be a River City Rebel for 2 nights only.  A good compromise.  Dissatisfaction on both sides.  And, seeing as Brandon has already announced a "special guest"  in his last blog, hopefully there is a little disappointment on your end as well.

Hope to see some of you PA/NJ Rebels Rousers at the shows and be sure to check out my new band Detournement (featuring members of Bigwig, Ensign, Lifetime, Plan A Project, and Worthless United) at www.myspace.com/detournementband and our new record "Screaming Response" which comes out on May 5th on Chunksaah Records.

Its great to be back on the east coast.  Im already starting to have flash images of being back home in our humble little apartment.  Teasing Courtney, watching Dave slam doors, jamming out some music with Josh, and coming up with new nicknames for Shayna.

Of course it will be good to see all the other regular fixtures at the apartment as well, like Tony and Hannah.  Hannah just posted videos on YouTube from our show in White River Jct. before leaving for tour, while Tony is, im sure, basking in the glory of the Bruins sweeping the Canadians in the first round.  Impressive.

There's so much to be done when we get back.  We have, more or less, another albums worth of material demoed up.  When we get back we need to reevaluate them all and get them ready for the summer, when we plan on recording our seventh record.  The working title of it is 'Down in the Basement'.  I can't wait for Patrick, Rob, and Sara to be involved in the process of recording a record.  You throw Seandave and all the LoFi Brothers And Sisters in the mix and we can't lose.

To use a hockey annalogy, we cant look too far ahead into the future, A.  We need to stay focused with the task at hand.  Right now we're staying with our friends in Sarasota, Florida, getting ready for a show we have here tonight.

There's still over a weeks worth of shows we need to play before we get back up to New Hampshire.  On this tour, we saved some of the best shows for last, including Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania and Rob's hometown of Bayonne, New Jersey.

I mentioned this before but now that its 100 percent confirmed I want to reiterate that we are going to be filming the show at Cafe Metropolis.  Spread the word and lets fill that place.  I also want everyone to give a warm welcoming to our friends The Brothers Gross, a great rock and roll outfit who will be traveling all the way from Indiana to be apart of the show.  Check them out online beforehand and get familiar with their stuff.  They put on a hell of a show.

I don't want to give away all the suprises we'll have at Metropolis, but I will hint at the fact that we have a very special guest that will be playing second guitar for us at the show.....

After tonights show we begin our slow climb back up to the northeast with shows in Jacksonville, Marietta Georgia, and Charlotte,NC.  The tour so far has been such a success and I want to thank all the people who came out to see us, all the bands we've played with, and all the new fans we've made along the way.  I encourage all of you to stay in touch, drop us a line, and come out next time we're around.

There's also talk of Europe this fall.  If anyone reading this blog internationally has any advise, contacts, or recommendations, please let us know.  I think its about time for The River City Rebels to explore new terrain.

...But what did I do but miss my home
Whoooah New England.

Brandon.
