Rolled into Bozeman Monday night. Tuesday afternoon we headed up in the Bridger Range with our hosts Ed and Katie to climb Sacajawea Peak. Clouds parted as we reached the top. Falco opened up a bar, Cresty's Place, on the saddle below the summit. A little boot skiing on the way down, a whole bunch of Ranier's, sunset and dinner at 10:30 at the Brewhouse. Perfect day.
Filling Station Tonight at 10pm. Grizzly Rose in Boise tomorrow, Sisters Folkfest in Sisters Oregon Friday and the Northwest String Summit on Saturday. This is shaping up to be the most epic tour since the Ski Tour. Thus far we've; ridden motorcycles up the Sandia Crest, walked around the Albuquerque zoo, climbed Sacajawea Peak in the Bridger Range, rafted the Yellowstone river, hiked near treeline in Crested Butte with Drew Emmitt, and run countless miles of roads and trails from from Texas to Montana.
Obviously we're into doing things when we get the chance. Next week we're heading into Idaho for some camping, fishing, riding and hiking on our days off. If we're coming your way, and you've got something cool you like to do that you might like to share with us, don't be shy, email us through the website and Katrina will pass it on to us. If it's fun and we've got the time (and you can provide gear/transportation) we're in. Fish, golf, hike, ride things, climb stuff, swim, run, jump off things, camp, float, throw disc, cook, party, ski... we're not scared. The Infamous Stringdusters on iLike - Add iLike to your MySpace

A little commentary on the iPhone from the Stringdusters first iPhone user, Jeremy.
Arrived in Bozeman last night. Got two days to fill with hiking, biking, rafting, fishing, camping and any other activities we can get into.
Carbondale is now one of our favorite places, if you missed it, you really missed it. Don't make that mistake again.

"Headed for the Hills.
Headed for the Hills.
I can hear 'em callin'.
Headed for the Hills."
Crested Butte tonight. Our friends from the Drew Emmitt Band will be around, possibly sitting in. Santa Fe was off the hook. Freak wind and rainstorm kept the opening act inside, but the weather cleared, the sunset was beautiful and the Dusters rawked. Tour rolls on. Albuquerque's Botanical Gardens filled up with nearly 2000 people last night. The Dusters rambled through two sets of music, punctuated by some long old time jams in the second set. It's always good to have some time off, everyone comes back to the music with fresh ideas and perspective.
This morning Jeremy and I are headed out for a ride with PJ of PJ's Motorcycles in Albuquerque. When someone asks you if you want to go ride Ducati's in the mountains, there's only one answer. The rest of the guys are headed back to the Botanical Gardens and the Zoo
TONIGHT! the Dusters take over the Santa Fe Brewery. We've seen steady growth in our audience in Santa Fe and we're counting on great weather. If you know someone in Santa Fe, email them or call them today and make sure they know what's happening in their backyard. Fanta Se Summer Throwdown. Vacation is one of those things, if you don't do it, it'll sorta mix itself into daily life in unsatisfying ways. So we're on vacation. For some of us, that means simply not spending all their time on the Stringdusters. For others, it means travel (which is weird because work is also travel, talk about confusing the issue). So don't bother dropping by or calling or emailing. We won't answer. This is our time. We're on vacation (no vacation for you, Allenby).
And we deserve it. We had a successful week in Asheville working on the record and we've got a great big tour lined up in July. A few dates with Joe Craven, a show or two with Danny Barnes, NWSS, some CO, MT, NM, CA dates... So we'll see you in a week, shoot off some fireworks for us.

Bogging at 7:36 can only mean one thing. Fly day! Hooray! Bring on the drink tickets. Seriously, flying is awesome and terrible and frightening and it smells a little like old cigarettes. Fly this morning, come back tomorrow. "I can handle a trip like this," I say to myself.

We'd always wondered what would happen if we found ourselves in a far away land, in a big, beautiful house full of food and books and instruments with nothing to do for three days. I think we'd assumed that some good would come of it. Day three has dawned and thus far we've written, rehearsed or arranged whole or parts of at least 12 songs. This combined with the music that had been made during previous sessions, our recent creative explorations have netted no less than 20 songs, tunes and pieces.
And we still have an entire day... rest in the city... The Infamous Stringdusters on iLike - Add iLike to your MySpace

Repeat after me, "Next year, I will go to the Music Camp Festival outside Spartanburg, SC. I won't miss it for anything. I don't care if it's 100 degress, 120% humidity, I understand perspiration is a form of human expression and I will embrace it. I will go to the Music Camp. I won't miss out."
Great, now that's out of the way. Have you heard of a band called the Belleville Outfit? Do you love music? The Infamous Stringdusters on iLike - Add iLike to your MySpace

Falco and I spent the day writing a cool song, sounds a little like Neil Young and Crazy Horse. Becker, Panda, Falco and I stopped by our new best friend, Joe Pisapia's house to check out his just finished studio. It's absolutely gorgeous. We're already making plans to do some recording there. If you've not heard Joe's music you can check out the lastest from Guster, or, better yet, check out my favorite record from his band, Joe, Marc's Brother. The album is Around the Year with.... Prepare to leave your body.

Family got together today, wrote with Sarah, ate some of Sarah's amazing food (roast, BBQ Chicken, party sandwiches) and played till late. Sitting in the living room with Allenby and Sarah listening to Daniel Tashian, Silver Seas, Joe Pisapia and Ricky Lee Jones. "it's not late, no, it's early..."
