So Jealous

Hey everyone,

This Sunday at 4PM we'll be having a little GreenLight shindig at my house. If you don't know where I live, just ask.
Even if you can't come, please read on and contribute some ideas for the brainstorming session!

First we'll watch a great documentary called King Corn.
Here's a synopsis:

"King Corn is a feature documentary about two friends, one acre of corn, and the subsidized crop that drives our fast-food nation. In King Corn, Ian Cheney and Curt Ellis, best friends from college on the east coast, move to the heartland to learn where their food comes from. With the help of friendly neighbors, genetically modified seeds, and powerful herbicides, they plant and grow a bumper crop of America's most-productive, most-subsidized grain on one acre of Iowa soil. But when they try to follow their pile of corn into the food system, what they find raises troubling questions about how we eat-and how we farm.
"

THEN we'll have a little brainstorming session about the new GreenLight website! Specifically, the following things:

1.
What should the topics be on our message board?
The Columbus DIY message board has the following categories: Events, General Discussion (The Porch), Booking Help, Flea Swap, Classified, Record Reviews

Do you like these? Some other ideas I had were: GreenLight Brainstorming, Urban Exploration (stories or pictures of cool places you've found in Cleveland), Sustainability Questions/Discussion, Skill Sharing

(Also, please feel free to come up with catchy/adorable names for the above topics!)

2.
DIY Projects
We'll have a section on our website of how-tos, focusing on using repurposed or recycled materials.
Is there something you know how to do that you'd like to share? Or something you've been dying to learn? Now is a good time to let me know!

So start thinking and we can have a fuller discussion on Sunday! Or if you can't make it, just comment here or send me a message or something.

And if you haven't yet... check you read this blog entry to learn how to get the new issue of GreenLight: http://blog. myspace. com/index. cfm?fuseaction=blog. view&friendID=231804924&blogID=445667236

Thanks everyone! Let me know if you have ideas, questions, or anything else!

Hey everyone! Welcome to this exciting GreenLight Newsletter! Lots to tell, so I'll try to keep it brief.

1. The 4th Issue is Ready!

2. Release Party! November 8th!

3. Introducing GreenLightZine.Org!

1. The 4th and newest issue of GreenLight is hot off the press! This issue is all about food… how it affects climate change, how you can eat in ways that is easier on your body and the environment, how to be a conscious shopper, book reviews, and some Cleveland information about local farmers markets and restaurants that support local food. It's really packed with information! I'm really proud of it and excited for everyone to read it.

If you'd like to order a copy, you can do so in several ways (listed in order of my preference!):

a. Come to the RELEASE PARTY at the Soggy Dog House on November 8th! More details below!

b. Send $2 (give or take whatever) to GreenLight Zine, P.O. Box 272, Wickliffe, OH 44092. Make sure your cash is well hidden!!!

c. Buy a copy online at loralovesohio.etsy.com!

If you're in a band it would be super awesome if you wanted to take GreenLight to your shows! Let me know and I'll sell you GreenLight in bulk for $1.50 so then you can sell them at your shows and make a whole fitty cent!

2. The Issue 4 Release Party will be at the Soggy Dog House (14613 Clifton Blvd, Lakewood) on November 8th at 6:30PM. The Used Kids are in town and will be playing with Underdogs of Nipomo and Random Stereo (acoustic style)! It's going to be really fun so bring some money for the touring band and a couple of bones for the zine!

3. The GreenLight website is in the works and is shaping up to be pretty awesome. It's going to be full of how-tos, info about the zine, fun things to do/places to explore in Cleveland, links to our friends' projects, message boards, and blogs. Our good friend Kim is putting a ton of time into making it look amazing, and our goal is to have it up around Thanksgiving. There's a temporary page up right now at GreenLightZine.org. Check it out! And definitely let me know if you have something you'd like to see on the website. We'll make it work—Tim Gunn style!

Thanks for reading, and keep in touch!

Hey everyone, I wrote this article about DIT Fest and GreenLight and my friend Mattie was able to post it on a really popular youth climate change blog called "It's Getting Hot in Here." Check it out!

Issue 4 will be coming out during the first couple weeks of October... definitely by the time that Lemuria and Slingshot Dakota come into town. It's coming along nicely!
