We have a new blog: House of The Threshold People!

We will continue to post music-related updates to our MySpace blog, while the House will be our Classic Horror/Halloween blog.  There's not much there yet, but we intend to keep it regularly updated.  Go take a look!

Current mood:  inspired
We love monster music.  Horrorpunk, horrorbeat, spooky surf, Halloween novelty records, monster film soundtracks, we love it all.  We love it so much that we got together to make our own.  We've had a lot of fun, made some friends, and put out a couple records that we're pretty happy with.

But it's not enough for us anymore.  We want more monster music.

So we had an idea: why not start our own monster music netlabel, as a side-label of This Plague of Dreaming?  In addition to hosting our own future releases, we would like the label to feature other horrorbeat and horrorpunk artists, spooky singer-songwriters, zombie disco, werewolf ballads, pipe-organ phantasmagorias, Halloween songs.  Nothing too nekro or gore-drenched, just good spooky fun.  Monster music, right?

We're not saying we'll definitely do it, but if we can find a few other interested artists, we just might.  So what do you say?  If this sounds like something you'd like to be in on, please get in touch!

Stay scary!

It is an honor to be remixed by our good friends [Esc.] Lab, and a little bit surreal.  It feels sort of like when you fall asleep in front of the 11 o'clock news, then you wake up during the late late movie and you have no idea what's happening.  It's like that.

This is a couple of days old already, but maybe some of you haven’t seen them yet?  Two pics and an interview with makeup artist Rick Baker:

"Here we have Benicio Del Toro, who’s practically the Wolfman already, to Benicio Del Toro with more hair and bigger teeth."

No, seriously, it looks pretty sweet.  You know how thorny we get about remakes, especially in the age of CGI, but Rick doesn’t let us down:

"The part that covers his nose and his brow is what we call an appliance. It’s made up of a foam, latex piece with tissue-thin edges that covers part of Benicio’s face and blends into his own skin. Then we have a wig and dentures that change his teeth into the giant Wolfman teeth. Most of the hair on his face is what we call ’’laid.’’ It’s actually loose hair that we apply little bits at a time with glue to his face. It’s very much the way the Wolfman was done in the [1941] original [starring Lon Chaney]."

Yes...

10.29.1998 - 2.21.2008
The original (on-land*) Creature from the Black Lagoon

"Ben Chapman passed away at 12:15 am Hawaii time on Thursday, February 21 at the VA hospital in Honolulu. His health began to deteriorate February 12 and he was admitted to the hospital on February 20. His life support was turned off Wednesday around noon and his pacemaker was turned off shortly before he died. He died peacefully with his wife, Merrilee, and son, Ben Chapman III, by his side. He was 79 years old at his death."

Ben was an enthusiastic regular on the classic horror convention circuit, and a friend to his fans.

*the Creature was played in underwater scenes by Ricou Browning

As the days grow short and the nights grow chill, we're pleased to bring you more Threshold People news!

We've just licensed our song "The Pit" (again!) for use in the haunted attraction Frightmare Forest!  If you're in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa area during the month of October, stop in and get the pants scared off ya!

Also, our friends [Esc.] Laboratory have released a new album on the test tube netlabel:

"Meet meta:Human, a kind of an Industrial-Techno-Goth-IDM trio from Germany. The Dark Ages of Technology is their own post-apocalyptic manifesto."
