raskassRecently we had the opportunity to kick it with 12th Planet and the mighty Ras Kass in the multi-million dollar Red Bull Studio. It was one of those moments where you are not sure its actually happening. Here you have the most talked about dubstep producer in America and then you have an OG West Coast rapper who is arguably one of the best lyricists of all time. Together you have a lethal combo who after spending a day in the studio, work together like it was meant to happen. This is a world exclusive so download it, share it, and if you got a blog go ahead and repost it but make sure to link us.

It was a great night last Tuesday at the Detroit Bar. Media Contender, SMOG, fakeRICH, and 41 DUB collaborated on what will go down as OC’s official introduction to Dubstep the way it is supposed to be heard, on a good sound system. All the crew and 500 others were in the house as dj’s 12th Planet, Johnny Love, EMU, Pawn and TeaLong put the crowd in a frenzy. It’s nights like these that motivate me to continue to do what I do. Here is a little taste of the night from Kelly D and my sneak a vid camera. Next one is March 31st at Detroit Bar, the most forward thinking venue in OC, do not miss it!

*MIX: INFILTRATA

DOA: Hi! Thanks for doing a mix for your friendly neighborhood DogsOnAcid. How's it going on the left coast?

Infiltrata: Thanks DOA fams. I am hyped to even be considered to do this mix. I rarely make mixes for online distribution but I love DogsOnAcid and everything it stands for. The Left Coast is okay, the weather is great but we have had natural disaster after natural disaster lately. It started off with 500 car pileup on the 5 freeway, then an earthquake in san fransisco and then a massive fire all in the course of 1 month!

DOA: Sounds wild. Glad you're okay! So, you've been releasing tunes for a while now. How did you first get into production? What big name producers / DJ's were you into back in the day?

Infiltrata: I have been producing Drum and Bass for about 8 or 9 years give or take. I was in bands before that and an MC as well. My influences were all across the board. From early Metalheadz, Prototype and Renegade Hardware, all the way to early Hospital releases. People such as Photek, Konflict, Dillinja, Stakka & Skynet, DSL, Aphrodite, Paradox and Hive were some of my biggest inspirations.

DOA: I know a lot of accomplished artists can fondly recall the beginning of their career in terms of people who gave them a chance when they were unknown. Are there any people who you feel really helped you a lot in the beginning as far as label owners or other producers?

Infiltrata: I definitely understand where that comes from. My situation was very strange because I found myself starting to create music around the time the internet boom happened. I mean the internet was always large, but with the creation of Napster and the boom of message boards, I found myself in circles with people from all around the world. I got some of my first spins from Nick Argon, Hive, Origin, Hazen, Hochi, and RAW in California. I also had daily support from the old DSCI4 / DOA message board gangs. Some of the likes lurking were Evol intent, Cyanide, Mayhem, Sinthetix, Rawtee, Hochi, and Black Sun Empire. True story.

DOA: As most people know, you have released with TEKDBZ. How did you first hook up with Photek and end up becoming a part of his crew?

Infiltrata: Photek was a major inspiration to begin with, but it only got better when I passed his A&R a demo and he was really into some of the tunes. He was forming a label through SRD at the time called "Slate" which was originally supposed to have classic Photek dubs. Hochi ended up taking the vision further by incorporating vocalists into the mix of things. At the same time, Photek was workin on an album with Mental Sharp and he was in the studio with Craze, so it only seemed fit to put the pieces of
the puzzle together. We really wanted to put together a movement for drum and bass that wasn't as conventional as the approach that the majority was using. There were nights where all of us would be in the studio at the same time and I just felt honored to be in the presence with all these great artists.

DOA: You've started your own label at this point in time, which is exciting news! Can you tell us a little bit about why you decided to begin Infiltrata Recordings and your vision for it is?

Infiltrata: Infiltrata Recordings began when Breaker from Guerilla Recordings helped me get it started with NU Urban UK. I could probably give some philosophical mumbo jumbo for a reason to start the label, but the bottom line was I wanted an outlet for my material and any material I was feeling to get released on vinyl and for digital sales.

DOA: As far as what people can expect from this label in the future, do you plan on releasing primarily your own material? If not, are you open to accepting demos from newer artists?

Infiltrata: I definitely plan on releasing majority of my material and collaborations with other artists. The first release will be a collaboration track with Limewax called Ethio, backed with an original track entitled '56 Fusion'. The initial idea was to have the A side be a solo side and the AA side to be the collaboration side (I don't
know I kept thinking of the A's as people). I plan on releasing some collaboration tracks with Demo, DEFine, Evol Intent, Hochi and many more. I also plan on releasing some solo stuff from Demo, Upbeats and Unknown Error.

DOA:We hear you're also well into dubstep lately. Traitor! Just kidding, I love dubstep. So, what's the story here? Were there any producers who really struck you and inspired you to start producing?

Infiltrata: Hehe, I knew I couldn't avoid that one. I have been producing Dubstep for about 2 years now under the name "12th Planet". My Earliest inspiration was Tech itch. He was the first person to even say the word "dubstep" to me, in like early 2005 or something. I ended up going to WMC that summer, or maybe it was the next (I'm hazy) but I met up with my label mate on Cartel, Juju, at Craze's house. He had a ton of tunes done and from then on I was very inspired to start producing it from that moment forward.

DOA: What output of yours can people look forward to the dubstep front?

12th Planet:My first Dubstep release will be in December, on the anthem maker Tes LA Rok's label, Noppa (distributed by LOAD Media). It's a song called 'Tonka' and it is collaboration with Swytch (USA). I have another release forthcoming on Swedish Label "Red Volume" as well. The tunes are called '28 Hours Later' and 'B-more Step'. I have a couple of other singles that aren't decided yet, but there should be a full head of steam rollin for the releases in January.

My buddy Andrew and I have started up a dubstep label as well called Smog Records and the first release should be droppin at the end of the year. The release is DJ Evol - Sickness, which has been getting a lot of plays especially on RinseFM on Plasticians Show. The other side is smokescreen by myself under the name "12th Planet", which has been receiving an equal amount of plays.

DOA:Could we get your top 5 tunes right now?

1. Infiltrata - Psalms 24 (forthcoming Med School)
2. Teravita - Another Place (forthcoming Technique)
3. Faction & Modified Motion - Hungry Hippos (dub)
4. Rawtee - Bassman (dub)
5. Infiltrata & Limewax - Ethio (forthcoming Infiltrata)

DOA: How about a non-dnb top 5?

2. 12th Planet & Swytch - Tonka (forthcoming Noppa)
3. LA Riots - Bully
4. Justice - D.A.N.C.E (mstrkrft rmx)
5. Uncle Sam - Round the World Girls (Tes La Rok rmx) (argon)

DOA:What are some releases we'll be seeing from you in the near future?

Infiltrata: 'Psalms 24' will be coming out on Med School very soon. Aside from that, a tune called 'Make Life Illa' by Breaker, Identity and myself will be coming out on Ohm Resistance. Also forthcoming on Human Imprint is a tune by DEFine and I named 'Parallel Universe'.

DOA: Thanks so much for talking with me today and for supplying us with this banging mix! We'll definitely looking forward to seeing what your label will bring to the game. If there's anything else you'd like to mention that we didnt cover as well as any shout outs you'd like to give, then go right ahead. Until next time! Keep it trill, Mr. Dada.

Infiltrata-- - Did you ever wonder who the artist Infiltrata-- was?  Did you know that Infiltrata-- has had releases on Tech Itch recordings, Photek Productions, Barcode Recordings, Concord Dawn's Uprising Label, Dieselboy's Human Imprint, and Hospital's Med-School? In spite of so much success, the hunger for more has driven the Infiltrata-- family to extend its hand to Nu Urban Music UK to distribute the hottest label to hit the shelves 4th quarter 2007, Infiltrata--. So from the minds that brought you TEKDBZ, and Imperial Recordings, comes a new take on DnB from the mind of Infiltrata--.

AA - Ethio ft (Limewax) - The debut single "ethio" is already a big hit on the club scene and is being battered everywhere from Herbal to Cinespace. The duo of Infiltrata & Limewax is taking a step further by the using the implementation of reggae and the darker sound of DnB.  This Song is currently in rotation by some of the heavyweights of DNB like Dylan, Tech Itch, Concord Dawn, Evol Intent, Mayhem, Panacea, Counterstrike, Hive, Gridlok, and Dieselboy.

A - 56 Fusion – 56 Fusion embarks on a journey of sound by incorporating hip hop, and techno with neo – hardware esque beats. The funky bass line picks up around 45 seconds into the tune, and doesn't stop running until the end of the song.

Infiltrata Recordings is making a mark on the DnB industry.  By constant determination and constant hustle, the label plans to be a force to be reckoned with. Be on the lookout for collaboration tracks, from Demo, Hochi, MC Dre (BBC best breakthrough mc2007), Define, Evol Intent, and many more.

Cam'ron's Rhyme Book Found

posted on Apr 09, 2007

We here at Oh Word have always prided ourselves on journalistic integrity, stories of heroism, adventure, inspiration, and all that dumb shit. That's why every year we gather our friends and families at Gray's Papaya on 8th and 37th and attempt to steal Cam'ron's rhyme book. His manager and rhyme book keeper is a frequent customer as well as a frequent narcoleptic, providing several momentary opportunities to complete the heist.

Why, you may ask, do we seek such a rare prize? Power. We want his power, his swagger, his secret to car surfing handed down from generations of Teen Wolfs.

This year we were finally successful. The power of Cam'ron is ours. But greedy we are not and thus we have decided to share this sacred scripture with our loyal fans. Bask in the genius and unmatched magic that is "The Official Rhyme Book of Killa Cam'ron Giles"

Infiltrata gives us a ridiculous look at what one of the killah producer/DJs of the TekDubz camp has on his mind musically as of late and ohhh my goodness if this is not one bad fukkin' mix I don't know what is. In the words of Kanye West and the Game, "That's that Crack Music". Living, Eating, Sleeping and of course Shittin' drum n bass, the passion of one of the music's most gifted artist comes through loud and clear on this mix. From the jump he gets his fellow TekDubz soldiers, Mental Sharp (MC Armanni and MC Sharpness), to blaze a "Kingdome Come Freestyle" and flips it drum n bass style. If you are gonna rip from one of the best MCs ever, Jay-Z, you better do it properly and Infiltrata and the boys do this remix justice like that blind chick holding the scales!!! Photek's remix of Tubby T's, "Ready She Ready" is such a massive dropping tune while "Big Shutdown" brings together Mason, D*Star and Focus with a classic Groovrider radio interview sample (it is hilarious if you know the back story). Capital J, the highly decorated and acclaimed scratch/turntablist DJ, lends his skill to the mix, by gracing some top flight cutting and scratching over the Intiltrata & Limewax tune "Ethio", BLAAAAZIN'!!! Closing out the mix, Infiltrata gives us a sneak peak at the Infiltrata feat. MC DRE & MC XYZ tune, "Always Fitted Fresh" forthcoming on Jayvon's label, Sugar Coded Records. Front, back, side to side in the words of Dave Chappelle playing Rick James, Infiltrata's mix is "cold as ice"!!!!!

MASSIVE MASSIVE MASSIVE!!!! One of the top producer/DJs stateside, Ewun aka Ewun "Tha Gun" aka (my new name for him) Ewun "Tha Motha Fukkin Gun", delivers a hard hitting mix that left my jaw on the floor by the time it was done. Fuck I don't even know where to begin in describing this mix because no words will do it justice. Laced with heavy sounds from from Ewun himself, Evol Intent, Spor and more, the future of stateside drum n bass is in good hands with cats like Ewun at the forefront. Every tune on here is heavy, but my favorites have to be "Screw Up (Living To Die VIP)" by Ewun which by now is a stateside anthem, also "Phone Tap" by Ewun is one killer tune. "Phone Tap" has a steppin' beat will have anyone moving to it, trust. "Exodus" feat. KRS-1 produced by Noisia & Mayhem is ridiculous as one of the greatest MCs to touch a mic blesses this edgy tune with his vocals. Fuk there are too many songs to talk about (and I haven't even touched on the Evol Intent boy's tunes which you know are gonna light a fire under dat ass) ohh and the guest drops by some of the USA's and industry's finest just solidifies this mix as the one to cop. "Who da illest" . . . Ewun "Tha Motha Fukkin Gun", nuff said!!!
