The New Enemy is excited to announce that we'll be recording our next EP during the month of July. We have 6 new songs dialed-in and ready to roll. Some pretty melodic, some pretty heavy (at least for us). It's a good mix, and we think you're gonna be stoked. If you've seen us live recently, you've likely heard a couple of the new tracks already.
We'll be working with producer Simon Head (SNFU, Marilyn's Vitamins) once again. Along with having an amazing ear for recording punk rock, Simon's a great dude, and we have a lot of fun working with him.
The 6 songs titles are - "The Pony Collector", "Crawdaddy!", "Coke Snout", "Level 2", "Thin Skull Rule", and "Shelf Life". The EP name that we're leaning towards is "Downsized EP" (notice a trend?). But all of this is tentative.
We expect to have the EP released for end of summer/early fall. Digital download, CD, and possibly vinyl. Some record labels have shown interest in working with us, but nothing's concrete yet. Stay tuned.
And don't forget, our first release "Outsourced EP" is still available as a free download, and is also available at Interpunk and iTunes.
Cheers, Clint and The New Enemy

Hey oh! Time for another update...
I don't know about you, but compilation CDs have introduced me to tons of amazing bands over the years...and some really shitty ones. haha With that in mind, The New Enemy will be featured on some upcoming comps... The fine people at Toronto Punk will be releasing DIY Volume 2 in the next few weeks. TNE will appear alongside Rocket Reducers, HYFY, Vatican Chainsaw Massacre, Rackshot, and a bunch more. They've always went out of their way to support us (and the Toronto scene), so be sure to return the favour and grab a copy. Just Promotions and Trustkill Records are teaming up to release a promo compilation for Bamboozle Fest in New Jersey. The New Enemy will be featured on the CD, along with bands like Sick City and Crash Romeo. Vomit Bakery Records has released their latest compilation. Along with TNE, you can check-out bands like Burial Ritual and Hooker Dragger. Shit's heavy, so you might wanna curl into the fetal position before pressing play. A new biography about Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx called "An Education in Rebellion: The Biography of Nikki Sixx" will be coming out this summer. Included with the book will be a compilation CD featuring Motley Crue, Ratt, Cinderella, Quiet Riot, and The New Enemy. How fucking crazy is that!? And to top it off, they're paying us in leather pants and herpes ointment.
Punk Radio Cast, one of the internet's most popular radio stations, recently put our song "3 Sheets" into rotation. According to February's charts we're one of the stations most played bands, being prominently featured in the Top 10 Most Requested Songs, The 40 Countdown, and put into high rotation. So tune into Punk Radio Cast for some great music, and request "3 Sheets" while you're at it. I was recently interviewed for an article about Toronto's punk rock scene by Ryerson University's Rob Moysey. If you've never seen an hour long interview condensed into a few cliche remarks, now's your chance. haha Thanks Rob! Along with the article, Mr. Moysey posted some photo's of our last show at Siesta Nouveax. They reminded me what a blast we had that weekend with Smoke & Mirrors. Didn't someone get a BJ in the basement that night!? haha I'm gonna miss that place. Is it wrong for a band to post links to blogs full of illegal downloads? Fuck it. Thanks to Schatten Stieg, Fist vs. Tact, My Neophilia, Punk'O'Teca, Parasite Land, Hardcore For Life, Music Is What We Aim For, I Found This Song In the Road, Mike V's Unblog, Misanthropic Majesty, and Excerpts of the Trans-Mundane for their support.
Finally, we're really stoked about a show we've put together for Friday March 13th. We've been trying to get Sakes Alive!! to come play Toronto since we saw them play with Gaslight Anthem last year. Well, it's finally came together. The best new punk band in Montreal, Dig It Up, will be packing up their poutine and Craven A's to come join the party. And Giveamanakick are gonna prove that two Irishmen can rock harder and louder then most 4-5 piece bands. Can't fucking wait!
Cheers, Clint and The New Enemy

'To establish oneself in the world, one does all one can to seem established there already.' Francois de La Rochefoucauld
From our first shows, to our first CD, and all the ups and downs along the way, 2008 has been a hell of a ride for The New Enemy. It's rejuventated our love for punk rock, and reminded us of the comradery within the community. We've been given incredible support from our local scene, as well as people from all over the world. We humbly thank you all, and look forward to working together towards great things in 2009.
But first, a few loose ends from December...
We played in Hamilton a couple weeks ago, and had an awesome time. Big thanks to Scott and Brian at Touche for making it happen. The club looks and sounds great, and it's exciting to have a new venue in Southern Ontario that supports a wide variety of music. You can watch a clip of us playing at Touche on our Youtube site. Additionally, thanks to CFMU Radio's Lullabies in Razorland and The Uprise, and C101.5 Radio's Punky Reggae Party for giving Outsourced EP some play, promoting the show, and letting us assholes on-air. Thanks to View Magazine for writing an article about Muldoon's early music career, and my pyromania issues.
We put on our best Blue Steel faces, and posed for photographer Robert Michael recently. Robert's crazy talented, so don't sleep on him. The final product is here, if you're looking to rub one out. Additionally, new photos of TNE and Declan's favourite t-shirt can be found here. They were taken during our CIUT Radio performance on Equalizing Distort. Give a listen Sunday night's on 89.5FM.As the newspaper industry continues its slow death, blogs keep kicking ass. The New Enemy has recently been featured on Subhuman Nature, Music She Blogged, Christ Almartyr, No Alpha No Omega, The Difference Between Life and Music, Kill the Kids First, Robyn Rock, Farmer's World, Sack My Hardcore, Bleak Blank Tragedy, and Hardcore For Nerds. As well, AbsolutePunk.net made note of our recent charity work.
The New Enemy's song 'The Way' is featured in this year's London International Awards trailer. LIA's are awarded to the best commercial's from around the world. The trailer can currently be seen online and in movie theatre's through-out Canada, and soon as part of an international campaign.
Well, that's it for now. Happy New Year and all the best for 2009! Let's make it one to remember!
Cheers, Clint and The New Enemy

The New Enemy, has donated a variety of clothing, CDs, musical instruments, and electronics, to local organization Touchstone Youth Centre this holiday season, with additional support generously provided by The Little Millionaires, Atticus Clothing, Sony/BMG Music, and Underground Operations. The New Enemy's singer, Clint McLean, said 'It's band merch to us, but it's warm, clean clothing to a homeless kid. This time of year, that can't be underestimated. And hopefully the CDs and instruments get them excited about music, and the outlet and escape it can provide.' Management at Touchstone has reported that a music program will be started with the instruments and CDs. Touchstone Youth Centre has been in operation for over 17 years, supplying emergency shelter and support to Toronto's homeless and at-risk youth. By offering opportunities to develop social and life skills, Touchstone supports youth as they work toward achieving independence and integration into society.

Killing time on the internet? Bored of masterbating? Take a look at our YouTube page for live footage from our shows at Clinton's, Bovine Sex Club, Siesta Nouveaux, The Kathedral, Touche, and last weekends show at Bottoms Up.
And to the girl at Bottoms Up that kept spitting on me - Maybe that's considered foreplay in Brantford. But for future reference, I prefer heavy petting. Anyway, thanks for the hepatitis!
Cheers, Clint and The New Enemy

Welcome to another addition of us talking about ourselves.
First of all, a big thanks to Smoke & Mirrors for this past weekend in Pennsylvania. We had an absolute blast and look forward to more shows in the future. Be sure to give them a listen. Also, thanks to the fine people of Erie for making us feel at home. Thanks to Justin for driving the get away car when the cops got called. Thanks to WFSE Radio for letting us talk about gay porn, male prostitutes, and Chippendale bow ties on-air for an hour.
We were on CIUT's Equalizing Distort radio show last week, performing a set live off the floor. Thanks to Stephe and the gang for a great night and a fun interview. After the music's mastered, we'll throw a couple tracks up on MySpace. Outsourced EP can also recently be heard on the radio at MixtapeFM, Punk the Dial, PHC Radio, and Mohawk Radio. Thanks to Punkorama on 102.1 The Edge, and CBC Radio for the continued support.
This kid in Indonesia asked us to be on his compilation CD. Obviously we agree. Next thing you know he's got bands on it from all over the world, and it's a big hit in Germany! So be sure to grab a copy of the We Strong Together Comp from Kampret Records.
In the last few days The New Enemy has been featured online at PublicBroadcasting.ca, awesome South American music blog I Love Mosh, Toronto Music Scene, and Narratives blog. A special thanks to our new BFFs, The Arkells, for a shout-out on CityNew's site. Hopefully they can get us some more press before the plagiarism lawsuits start.
In grandiose news, we're talking with some directors about music videos for Outsourced EP. We're also working on some licensing stuff for videos games and TV. Expect coke habits and swollen egos to follow shortly after the papers are signed.
Last, and maybe most importantly, The New Enemy have two incredible shows coming up in the next few weeks. Saturday November 15th in London with Agnostic Front and The Carrier. And then Friday December 5th in Hamilton with Hostage Life and Broadcast Zero. Both shows are gonna kill it. See ya in the pit!
Cheers, Clint and The New Enemy

Exclaim Magazine, "Canada's Music Authority" reviewed "Outsourced EP" in July's issue...
The New Enemy Outsourced EP By Keith Carman
The further we progress from mid-'90s hardcore, the more appealing (read: nostalgic) it becomes. No one embraces this under-acknowledged piece of punk rock past more than the New Enemy. With a hammering rhythmic attack reminiscent of Kid Dynamite, brash vocals equivalent to the Dillinger Escape Plan and harmonies yanked from some of Avail's finer moments, this throwback quartet are spot on through an ephemeral six-song EP. Embittered yet forward-thinking, persistent and zealous, the New Enemy fit in perfectly with newer acts such as Cloak/Dagger and New Mexican Disaster Squad, albeit with slightly rougher edges that lean towards Agnostic Front-ish confrontational attitude. If Outsourced is any indication of the New Enemy's potential, they are very well Toronto's greatest hope for retrospective hardcore. (Independent)

Hi everybody!
Time for another update from The New Enemy... Canuck's love their own! We're featured on the June 9th episode of Canadian Punk Podcast, available from iTunes and on their website. We're also a featured band on Toronto Punk MySpace. And thanks to the guys at Punkorama on 102.1 The Edge for their continued support. While being international playboys, constantly circling the globe, we've made friends with Sweden's So What Blog and Portugal's Moo Musica. The Punk Site have us as a featured band for June. Fuck you Chad Kroeger! We're GJK Promotions Artist of the Day, and you're not.
Cheers, Clint and The New Enemy
