California Extreme is the "Classic Arcade Games Show". It's an annual celebration of coin operated pinball machines, video games and other novelties you once found in game arcades. All games on display are set for free play, so leave your quarters in the ash tray in your car. You won't need 'em. California Extreme 2009 July 11-12, 2009 Hyatt Regency Santa Clara It's time for our 13th show! We have a fantastic new location this year - the Hyatt Regency Santa Clara. This is also the show hotel which is giving us a fantastic rate on 4-star rooms. See the Hotel Page for booking information (available now!). Latest News Map to the Hyatt We're planning a great show - check back often for the latest news! Click on Pictures, Testimonials, and Stories for information about previous shows.
Why A Game Show? .. .. .. .. Arcades were once a fixture on the American urban landscape, and games were plentiful in rural cities too. The closest heir of today is the so-called "Family Entertainment Center", which is populated with a myriad of devices designed only to take your coins quickly and leave you with a pile of tickets, which you exchange for cheap, trashy toys. This is entertainment? California Extreme was born with a desire to share fun coin op games that are in the hands of private collectors, and to hopefully spread the word that pinball machines were once plentiful, and that videogames were not synonymous with "martial arts" and violence. Buy/sell/trade! The show is a great place to bring games you want to sell, and also a good place to add to your collection, or even start it! Not all games will be for sale; many collectors bring games to show (or show off!) that they would never sell. So .. Can I play the stuff? Yeah .. Everything is on free play. You can play from the moment you arrive until we shut off the power at closing -- Play as many games as you want, in whatever order you want to. There are *HUNDREDS* of games, all set to play for free. This is a your chance to try those older games, or the newer games that you'd never put money into in an arcade. There are also many games that never got produced, and are very hard to find. http://www.caextreme.org/

I can't believe I have forgot to post this months ago. But Chasing Ghosts: Beyond the Arcade is airing on the Showtime movie channels. Since there is no plans of a DVD release of this movie, this will be your only chance to see it. So set your DVR's ;-) Filmmaker Lincoln Ruchti's documentary takes a nostalgic look back at the 1980s, the "golden age" of arcade games, when high-scoring whizzes were briefly celebrities and even national championships of joystick competitors were spawned - only to be eclipsed by the rise of home computer games. This movie is not as good as King of Kong IMO. But its definitely a good watch. Here are the remaining showtimes.... - On Showtime Next

Copied and pasted from... http://kotaku.com/5109692/ms-pac+man-tattoo-might-limit-career-options
Lord knows we encourage enough tatting around here, but like the mafia, we don't deliberately go for the face. Of course, this is on the side of her head, and this person probably wasn't looking for a high powered career in sales or games PR. Actually, it sounds like this tattoo was an impulse buy:
Head tattoos are THE S**T!!!!!! LOL. So I was workin yesterday and we decided to tattoo me cause well, it was slow.. A few ideas were thrown around and Ms Pacman WON!! So now I am the proud owner of an ultra geeky head tattoo!!!! Not sure if life gets any better, hahahahahaha////////////

CLICK THIS LINK TO SEE A PIC OF THE PRIZED HEADSET!! About Jonathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel... FATAL1TY…THE FIRST OF HIS KIND Johnathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel is the most accomplished, professional PC Gamer in history and is the breakthrough name and face of the sport. As the world's most famous PC gamer he spreads interest in PC gaming wherever he goes and, in the process, has become the sport's worldwide ambassador. Wendel wants PC gaming to be considered a true sport and considers himself an "E-Sportsman". Like any other professional athlete, he trains for hours a day and analyzes his performances by watching videos of himself in action – all with the goal of being the best in the world. Fatal1ty is a naturally gifted athlete who competed in many sports including tennis, golf and football before devoting his full time efforts to gaming. He still uses physical training to maintain and hone his natural gifts of quick reflexes and lightning fast hand/eye coordination. Johnathan Wendel also excelled in school, gaining a 3.4 average in 2 years of college, from which he withdrew as his gaming career took off. Fatal1ty wants to communicate the picture of a well-rounded, articulate, 26 year old in order to change the image of the typical PC gamer as a desensitized geek who only spends time in front of a computer monitor. No one has ever come close to the earnings, titles and media coverage of Fatal1ty. His record of success speaks for itself. He presently reigns as the holder of 10 major championships, winning titles in 5 different games, a feat never before accomplished. Wendel started professional gaming in 1999 by entering the CPL (Cyberathlete Professional League) tournament in Dallas and won $4,000 for placing third before flying to Sweden to compete in a tournament against the top 12 players in the world. By winning 18 straight games and losing none he took first place, emerging as the top ranked Quake III player in the world. Two months later he defended his title and ranking in Dallas by winning the CPL again and a $40,000 grand prize. Since then Fatal1ty has traveled the globe to compete against the best in the world, winning prizes and acclaim, including the 2005 CPL World Tour Championship in New York City for a $150,000 first place finish. From the time Fatal1ty began to realize success he has preached a doctrine of "giving back to gaming" and has convinced his business partners to do the same as part of their overall goal to position gaming in a positive light. As part of this quest he has organized events that have given away a great deal of money and prizes, including an exhibition held at The Great Wall of China for a prize of $125,000 to selected challengers who could beat him. The relationship that has been built between him and his business partners, combined with the sales of his own branded products, provides the capital and human resources needed to pull off attention getting promotions. In December 2006, Johnathan joined forces with Championship Gaming Series (CGS) as exclusive on-air analyst, global spokesperson and gaming ambassador to help establish competitive video gaming as a 21st century sport. The exposure given to CGS through live coverage on DirecTV and sister companies SkyTV and Star, has a global reach of 120 million homes, furthering his goal of achieving global status for competitive gaming. In August 2007, Johnathan was awarded the first ever Lifetime Achievement Award in the four-year history of the eSports-Award for "showing exceptional sportsmanship, taking part in shaping eSports into what it is today and for being the prime representative of this young sport. He has become the figurehead for eSports worldwide". from nintendowiifanboy.com Nintendo's US media conference is going on right now, and the first Wii game announcement is one we've been desperate to hear. As if we couldn't guess, Nintendo's Cammie Dunaway has confirmed a North American release of Punch-Out!! She showed a short trailer, which we're sure we'll see soon, and then said that the game will be available in "the first half of 2009." Not sure if that's Dunaway's exact wording or IGN's liveblogger, but it also doesn't matter. Watch a brief video here... http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n10/conference2008fall/mov/wii.html?n10
