HEALING
John Jacobson Assistant Pastor - Faith Pleases God Church

When we receive prayer requests for healing, we often don't know much about the sick person. So we've put together this scriptural outline so that any obstacles to God's healing power can be removed. We believe God hears prayers based on His word/will (1 Jn 5:14-15) will manifest His healing power! We also realize that the FAITH and WILL of the sick person is very important.

A. PRAYING FOR THE SICK WHO ARE NOT BORN-AGAIN BELIEVERS.

1. Their 1 need is to receive Jesus as Redeemer, Lord, Savior, AND healer. The illness is one of the best door openers you'll ever have to share Jesus with them. You have the ANSWER to their problem! (If you need a scriptural pattern to pray for the unsaved, please call).

2. Pray God's healing mercy upon them (since at this point they don't have the right of healing that God's children have).

3. Rebuke the sickness (Lu 4:39), speak death to the life-force in the disease and speak life and health to their body (Prov 18:21). CALLTHEM HEALED (RO 4:17; Mk 11:23).

B. PRAYING FOR THE SICK CHRISTIAN

1. Above all, teach them that: a) when Jesus took their sins as their substitute, He also took their sickness (Is 534-5; Mt 8:17; lPe 2:24) and b) the moment they received Jesus as Redeemer, they received salvation from sin AND healing from sickness (Ps 103:3; Gal 3:13).

2. There are numerous scriptural avenues to help them receive:

..> ..>

a. Anointing with oil by Elders of the Church (Jas 5:14-15)b. Laying on of hands by believers (Mk 16:18; Lu 10:1,9,19)

c. Prayer of Agreement (Mt 18:19; Deut 32:30)

d. Warfare against the sickness (Mt 18:18; 2Cor 10:3-5; Jas 4:7), which is a work of the devil (Acts 10:38)

e. In some cases, an unclean spirit may be involved which must be cast out in the name of Jesus (Lu 9:39,42; 13:11,16).

f. All of the above must be mixed with: 1) FAITH (Heb 4:2) which comes by MEDITATING (considering, pondering, & speaking aloud) the Word of God (Prov 4:20-22) and 2) LIVING RIGHT before God (Prov 3:7-8; Is 59:2; 2Chron 7:14). This especially includes forgiving anyone who has offended them (Mk 11:25: Mt 5:23-24) and obeying what God has told them (Dt 7:12,15; Ex 23:23-25).

It's not complicated. Just live for God as best you know how and DO the Word. If you need help, call us or ask someone who is well grounded in the Word. God sent Jesus to heal you! (PS 107:20).

HOUSEHOLD SALVATION
John Jacobson, Assistant Pastor - Faith Pleases God Church

We praise God for the many prayer requests we receive for the salvation of family and friends. We believe that when we pray scripturally that God is able to move and bring those loved ones into the Kingdom of God. We encourage you to pray according to the following Biblical principles:

1. Know that it is the will of God to save them - 1 Timothy 2:3-4; 2 Peter 3:9. Understand that the salvation of your household is promised in scripture - Old Testament Types: Ex 12:3-4, Joshua 2:13,18; New Testament Promises: Acts 2:39; 11:13-14; 16:14-15, 31; Heb 11:7.

2. Since God wants them saved, it's not necessary to keep asking Him-1 John 5:14-15, Mark 11:23-24. The real problem is the enemy who is blocking the message of the Gospel - 2 Corinthians 4:4.

3. The majority of your prayer time, therefore, needs to be in intercession: stripping away those deceiving spirits so that the light of the glorious gospel CAN shine on them, pulling down the strongholds - 2 Corinthians 10:4-5, and forbidding any interference from the demonic realm - Matthew 18:18. Ask for Discerning of Spirits (1 Corinthians 12:10) to identify what the primary spiritual obstacles are.

4. Pray that the Holy Spirit carry out His work unhindered to convict them of their sin, of righteousness that is available only through Jesus, and of Judgment if they refuse Him - John 16:8.

5. Loose the angels (Matthew 18:18; Hebrews 1:14) and ask God to send laborers (Luke 10:2) to minister and "harvest" them. Then be prepared to be one of the laborers, to your loved ones and/or someone else's loved ones (Galatians 6:7). Ask for the right combination of boldness and wisdom - James 1:5; Acts 14:3.

6. Call those things that be not as though they were - Romans 4:17. "___________ (insert name of the person), I call you into the Kingdom of God. I call you saved, filled with the Holy Spirit, and serving God with all your heart, might, mind and strength."

7. Make sure your life is without unforgiveness (Mat 6:14-15) or other sin and that your relationship with God is without hindrance - Isa 59:2; Psa 37:3-5 - so that your prayers can be effective (Jas 5:16)

Remember Isaiah 55:11; 45:22-23, and then let God do it His way. Our job is to pray, God's job is to save them! He seldom does it the same way twice. As conviction sets in, your loved ones may seem to "get worse before they get better." Don't despair, but rejoice that the Holy Spirit is getting through to them. Keep praising and thanking God for their salvation and you will see them come into the Kingdom of God!

KEYS TO RELEASING YOUR FAITH
John Jacobson, Assistant Pastor - Faith Pleases God Church

Jesus promises that whoever seeks Him will find Him (Luke 11:9-10). Yet His promises are conditional upon us. Whether you are a new Believer or are finding that one of the principles of God's Word just doesn't seem to be working for you, these basic principles will lead you to spiritual health!

1. First of all make sure that God is your Father. The only promise an unsaved person can claim from the Bible is Salvation—that if they repent and ask Jesus to save them, He WILL. Then faith begins to work, and the rest of God's promises become available to you. Regardless of your religious background (whether you grew up in Church or never heard the name of Jesus), make sure you have fulfilled (Romans 10:9-10)

2. Be sure you are walking daily in repentance - there is no sin in your life that you haven't dealt with (1Jn 1:8-9). As soon as you repent, God forgives you, and makes you Righteous. And James 5:16 says that the prayer of the Righteous accomplishes much!

3. Turn from any unforgiveness in your life - toward ANYONE. God is clear that if you don't forgive, He can't forgive you (Mat 6:14-15). And if He can't forgive you, not only will faith NOT work (because faith works by love - Gal 5:6) but that sin will separate you from God (Isaiah 59:2).

4. Make sure you are not walking under a curse for robbing God (be sure you are a tither -Mal 3:8-12).

5. Be sure you are serving God where He has planted you in a local church (2 Cor 12:18; Eph 4:11-12) under the covering of an anointed pastor. There is no substitute for discussing and praying over your questions with your pastor or the ministers in your church.

6. Dig out the scriptures in the areas where you are exercising faith. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. If you find yourself unsure of your faith, it's a symptom that you need more WORD, which produces more FAITH. Meditate on it and speak it out loud. Faith is released by the tongue (too many references to write here - Lu 6:45; Prov 18:20-21; Mk 11:23 to mention just a few).

7. Listen to the voice of God. Start your day in prayer and Bible reading. Expect God to talk to you.

8. Surround yourself with anointed praise & worship music. Enter into the presence of God and worship Him. (Psalms 100)

9. Be an active member in a home Care Group where you have the strength and support of other Christian friends. Call 956-412-5600 Ext. 121 to connect with a nearby group.

10. Put on the armor of God and then, having done all - stand: Eph 6:11-18. Remember that faith is only needed UNTIL you see the promise of God manifested (Heb 6:12; 10:36).
