So I had this big long note started, then I realized I could condense
my Wrockstock thoughts pretty easily in a bulleted list. So here it is.
-Diagon Alley kicks ass, and knows how to party.
-CAN WE GIVE THE DRUMMER SOME? Stacy and John put on one of the best performances ever.
-I felt like I was at home, telling kids not to shove their hotdogs into their mouths all at once :-)
-Jarrod's energy onstage is incredible
-I am apparently destined to never see JFF with a full band. This really bothers me.
-The Blibbering Humdingers had way too much energy for 9am on a Sunday, but it was all good.
-Seeing someone like Standing In Line reaffirmed my faith in the future of music. If you weren't at the Willow, you missed out.
-Cryssy and Nate are the awesome.
-So are Hammie, Michelle, and all the rest of the staff
-Playing drums for Steph when we tore into "Born to Run" is one of the musical highlights of my entire life.
-The Whomping Willows need to be a 7 piece band EVERY show.
-The crowd's reaction during the screaming contest in "Nagini" literally blew me away
-Riddle TM could probably sing a fast food takeout menu in their harmonies, and reduce me to tears. And I'm OK with that.
-Jace should be required to take yearly hiatuses if his "returns" are that amazing
-Watching Christian live truly reminded me how far I have to go when it comes to writing a good song
-Trout Lodge is simply beautiful
-The Daily Wrocket knows how to throw a party.
-As fun as WS was, I don't want to be away from my family ever again,
and spent the weekend wishing they were there to experience it all with
me
-Babies always make me go all goofy
-Looking over at Chan during our set and seeing her rocking out and clapping made me smile, every time.
-Alex owns every crowd he gets in front of, he could get onstage with a freaking triangle and he'd kick it.
-No one will ever have a last show like The Mudbloods did. I still
can't think about it without getting a bit worked up. I'm thankful that
I was there for that event, and thankful that I got to tell them what
AWAPS means to me.
-Earplugs are essential tools for trying to sleep during 4am bluegrass jams.
-Diagon Alley knows how to party (yes I know this is a repeat. Just needs to be said again).
-Everyone needs to know what an amazing job Paul, Steph, Dan, and Erin
did running the stage and sound. No matter what curveball the PA or
gear threw at them, they dealt with it and made it all work. All the
bands owe them a huge debt of gratitude for helping us all sound good.
-Everyone's love of Trout Lodge's bacon is justified.
-I can't think of anyone besides CJ who I would have wanted onstage with me for the full band Crisis performance. Thanks, man.
-Abby and Paul deserve a huge freaking standing ovation for their work
to put on Wrockstock. Undoubtedly. I owe you guys a huge debt of
gratitude.
-I don't like flying on planes with door seals that are acting up and "aren't a mechanical issue.... yet"
-Brian and Brad are not only amazing musicians, I absolutely want to
emulate the way they approach every performance as if it's their last,
and they leave it all onstage. It's always a sight to behold, and the
biggest adrenaline rush EVER.
-You truly can't understand the Wrockstock experience until you've been
there. Everything everyone told me about it pales to how it truly is.
-Missouri has a SHITTON of roadkill.
-Squib Girl's advice was probably the best advice of them all - "Just
leave the high beams on. That way you can see the deer's eyes before
you're about to hit them"
I'll probably come back and add onto this list, but for the most
part... yeah. I already miss all of you like WHOA and all that happy
crappy. Thanks for helping make this past weekend so much fun, and
making the first real Crisis show the great experience that it was.
Everyone's friendship, support, and love for the community still manage
to blow me away. I'd say more, but words can't do it the justice it
deserves.
I heart you guys.
