We are very excited to tell you that we have our new singer, and his name is Nate "Everybody's Favorite Band Whore" Johnson. An observant bartender submitted a video of him doing his best Turmoil karaoke at Local Moose Lodge #42 in Ossipee, NH, and he fucking nailed it. Hopefully he'll stick around for more than 6 weeks. In all honesty he contacted us, told us he has been a longtime fan and submitted a demo. He has a great voice, great presence, and most important of all he is excited about the new recording. We've been trying to keep it under wraps since November because we wanted to present the news along with a finished version of the song “Papercuts” to let it speak for itself, but due to the fact that he lives so far in the middle of nowhere that we could only reach him via carrier pigeon, it took a little longer than we planned. Here it is, hope you dig it.” – TURMOIL

Ok, so here are the facts of the situation, the new CD is done and has been for months. There are 13 tracks (12 originals, 1 cover), half of which have finished lyrics. Vocals, on the other hand.......
.......SO, we are indeed looking for a new singer. We didn't spend 11 months writing and rehearsing and recording a new record just to have it get shelved and never see the light of day just because of 1 lineup change. We've gone back and forth over whether we should change the name of the band or not, but the bottom line is, Eulogy Recordings signed Turmoil, so Turmoil it is. So how are we going to go about this, you ask? We are going to be releasing 1 of the unfinished tracks from the CD, tentatively titled "Papercuts" online for everyone to check out. This is going to be an open invite for people to download the song, write lyrics for the track and submit them to us along with a vocal track for consideration. Just click on the link below to download the track or just go to our Myspace page to check it out. One thing to keep in mind, WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR A TURMOIL KARAOKE SINGER!
We are definitely interested in hearing different vocal styles, anything from Deadguy to Torche to the Bronx to the Melvins to Sheer Terror to Exodus. We are looking to expand the dynamics of the band. We've already done it musically and we'd like to do it vocally as well. Also, ideally we'd like to have someone who can write their own lyrics. The lyrics that have been written don't have to stay. If you can come up with something better, we all win. We have set up an email address that you can submit your lyrics and demos to: turmoilvocals@gmail.com. Once we pick a winner and everything is cool on both sides we look forward to hitting the road full on. – Turmoil. Turmoil has amicably parted ways with Abacus Recordings. Both parties felt that a separation was in the best interests of everyone involved.
When we originally broke up in 2000, we we're still under contract with Century Media Records, which led to a deal with one-time Century Media imprint Abacus when the group reformed in 2004. Abacus subsequently released the band's "Staring Back" retrospective in 2005.
We have written several new songs and hope to release a new full-length and tour in 2007. Now free of contractual obligations with Abacus, We are actively seeking a new record label and are currently in talks with a few labels. Interested parties should contact us.

"Staring Back" and finding what you missed…
For whatever reason, I was never a Turmoil fan. I guess I could probably chalk it up to my finicky ears often having a tendency to (at times unfairly) hold less-than-stellar recordings against solid songs, I don't know. There was a time when I owned their debut full-length, "From Bleeding Hands" (in fact, I've owned it twice), but I sold it for the second and final time many years ago and never looked back. But when this double-CD discography (plus three brand new tracks) from Abacus Recordings showed up a month or so back, something funny happened: Turmoil finally hit me. These Philadelphia bruisers started out more than 10 years ago, and this retrospective actually marks my first exposure to 1999's "The Process Of…" (their final full-length release at the time), which is chock full of fucking awesome tracks and a slick set of production values that smokes their earlier work by a landslide. Though, admittedly, there are some killer tunes throughout the band's back catalog (in all these years I've never forgotten how raging a moment it is once the vocals kick in during the intro to "New Media"). This heavy and discordant form of metalcore with smatterings of post-hardcore melody and minimal flirtations with the more angular and chaotic side of the genre is honestly very Deadguy-ish to my ears, so I can't exactly call it the most original thing in the world, but I have to confess feeling like an idiot for having overlooked the quality of this material in the past. These dudes have demonstrated some great songwriting that manages to pull plenty of feeling and atmosphere into the mix, and that's where most bands of this nature tend to fail:
