Hey friends,
A few of you might've noticed we've been playing less shows and had to cancel a couple recently too.
I'm sorry to say, we'll be cancelling on the Work/Sound show today as well. I, the drummer, have severe tendinitis. It hurts a lot sometimes, sometimes less, so I've been able to play a couple times despite having it. It gets a little scary sometimes, so I'm taking a serious break. If we do play any of our shows for the next month, it'll be with a temporary drummer, and I'll just prance around singing.

Thanks for coming to shows and thanks for understanding this shitty situation. I'm hoping rest and other treatment will get me back at it.

There's a totally sweet article about us in the Willamette Weekly that came out today:
Show me your tears: Los Angeles transplants make PDX their home.

...and here's a quote we enjoyed, also written by Nilina Mason-Campbell, followed by links to other stuff on localcut.com that we haven't posted:
"Things I like about shows: when there is something that differentiates them from any other show. I also enjoy when reviews highlight that and something I think should be highlighted about Magic Johnson's set: when everyone started singing old, old-skool Whitney Houston, when Magic Johnson then covered Whitney Houston, when everyone started screaming for more in Spanish and Magic Johnson then accommodated the request with glee and provided us with two more songs instead of just one before drawing a close to their set."

Here Comes a Big Black Cloud, Hornet Leg, Magic Johnson[GARAGE] Even though the stomp-and-shred of guitar-and-drum duos has been done more than a few times, both Hornet Leg and recent Portland transplants Magic Johnson are playing the hell out of their instruments like they’re onto something new. Pure energy and enthusiasm drive songs like Magic Johnson’s "La Casa," a blistering punk barrage sung in Spanish by drummer Ana Rodriguez (it incites her friends to clean the house). This show is exactly the sort of trouble the kids should be getting into (and if tonight’s appearance weren’t 21+, I’m sure they’d do just that). JIM SANDBERG. Towne Lounge, 714 SW 20th Place., 241-8696.
