"When you’re first falling in love with film, when you’re starting to realize you are a film geek, there are SO MANY amazing, classic, essential films and filmmakers that you need to catch up with. And thanks to video, I remember when I would fall in love with a filmmaker like Stanley Kubrick and I would be able to watch 2001, CLOCKWORK ORANGE, LOLITA, PATHS OF GLORY, THE KILLING, THE SHINING, and BARRY LYNDON all in the space of a week, all for the first time. Do you know what kind of a hole that left in the back of my skull? Once you’ve really caught up to a certain point, though, you don’t get to discover true classics as often, because there aren’t that many left. You don’t get to gobble up whole filmographies at once because you already have. That experience of having my brain chemistry altered by a film is more and more rare these days, and I suspect the same is true for many of you who are also rabid film freaks. You still hope you’re going to feel it whenever you put on some new film, but you’re starting to suspect that you’ve caught up... that you’re not going to get your head caved in as often... and it’s a little bit depressing."

I am legend

Just saw this one 2nite. I liked it. The entire first half is just Will and a dog, kinda like the relationship of Hanks and that volleyball in Cast Away, hunting for food, fishing. This part illustrates how currently our society is becoming more isolated than recent ones, by select individuals surfing the internet or watching their new surround sound home theater system rather interact with others.
Will smith A-level of movie stardom, and for him to thrive in this hollywood is awesome. And he seems to pick good directors. 3 stars.

"it had a novel by Mamoru Oshii that was more dialectic than horror action/thriller. In contrast, Jun’ichi Fujisaku builds Blood+ as a smartly engineered genre hybrid. The anime series is less about artistic endeavor and more about send the audience out on a long trip with characters for which that audience feels a connection. There’s a bit of school drama, a bit of road trip, a bit of pulp adventure, and a super hero approach to the concept of an every-girl who discovers that she’s born different, with special powers and a purpose that will send her into the world in search of her arch-enemy. He might lean on conceits such as amnesia, action sequences might not be his forte, but Fujisaku does construct an involving serial." aintitcoolnews.com, 2008.

The movie "Seven" makes an interesting point concerning the steady increase in the violent nature of people in modern society. "I just don't think I can continue to live in a place that embraces and nurtures apathy as if it was virtue." Also the notion of bringing babies into a world that is full of hypocrisis. I know I'm not any different and I actually go out to bars and lose myself in alcohol sometimes.

Now I can see all the crazy F/X, sequels, childrens book movies coming out this summer, brave the increasingly, supposed global warming-caused hot temperatures Every day, make peace with my need to buy anything I see, get gas at the cheap place where ever that is, avoid taco bell , for a while, land that backflip, and drink some beer! Which is what I do every weekend, how hard could it be. My personal experiences with fridays are volcanic. Building up starting from the rush i get from going out on wed. i'm not a big drinker, so when i go, i go Hard.
