The Ness Aquino Benefit shows at the Mab were awesome.. KUSF and H.E.A.R. co presented with TnT Productions and producer Kathy Peck. David Denny crew did a live recording and Jai Noire crew filmed it. John Epstein, Jack Johnson and Chritian did Front of House sound and Lennon Studios helped provide a great sounding backline with Andy Moraga and Paul Moraga assistance... Paul Lobster Wells was the MC along with Stage Manager, Mike Dingle. The DJ was original Mab DJ Denise Demise ..Craig Pop Artist did the spectacular sets... Non profit Organization H.E.A.R. archived the whole event. Funds were raised for Ness Aquino's Medical Benefit.
Sun Nov 11 show, Ness showed up in time for Polkacide to mount the stage. I heard it was one of his favorite bands. True to form Ward and the boys and Maggie rocked the house!
NO POLITICS! Fantastic... with Steve DePace form Flipper, Paul Casteel from House of Wheels, Bruno DeSmartas from Bad Posture, Dave Chavez from Verbal Abuse and East Bay Ray of the Dead Kennedys ... Especially a great version of Flipper's Sex Bomb.
Then a rare treat performance of The Pynotics with a reunion of members of Psycotic Pineapple!
Last band of the night Fab Mab All Stars, bandleader John Binkov of the Vktms brain child. It started off with songs by the original members of The Contractions ( Mary Kelley- guitar , Debbie Hopkins- drums and Kathy Peck -bass) with back up of John Binkov- guitar from the Vktms and J Raoul Brody-keys.. Then Ginger Coyote and Lula Perla from the White Trash Debutantes slammed on stage to sing backup for Kathy Peck with Bobby Imsolucky on drums to do a late Mary Monday cover of " Ricky Boy , I gave my punk jacket to Ricky" ( Mary's was the first punk band at the Mab) . Then riveting Bob Clic- guitar and J. Sats-vocalist from the Lewd came on to do Lewd songs" Motel", Pia did Vktms songs with the original Vktms' John Binkov -guitar,Steve Ricablanca- bass and Lou Gwerder- drums , Mike Dingle sang a Mutants song and at last Translator ( Dave Scheff -drums, Larry Dekker- bass and Steve Barton- guitar and vocalist) appeared on stage out of nowhere and played a stunning set till the end of the night. " Your Everywhere where I'm Not" . That all happened within the Fab Mab All Stars Set. Whoa!
Other great bands that played their heart out Acu-funk-ture, Minus One (Dana Alberts great song singer writer-performer-poet) , Kitten on Keys (Beautiful!), The Symptoms. (Really great rawk'n set! )
Nov 10th bands, The Vibe Project (acoustic metal) , Closer to the Real, Embers of Euphoria (new metal stars) , Stratus with powerhouse vocalist Mike Moreno, WarningSF (slamming metal) , The Nubs (fun and fast), The Lifers ( a truly great band back together for more shows) , The Sheets (an early Fab Mab band fav.) Fantastic!

The people that have the lease on the Mab right now are NOT punk or metal friendly and want to go back to being a disco..... T & T Presents are moving our shows to other venues. You can see where on the calendar on the Mab site which I run as a memorial of the Mab and has nothing to do with the people leasing the space.
However, we (fab mabbers), did raise money for Ness Aquino, and we received a proclomation from Mayor Gavin Newsom for bringing back a piece of San Francisco's history and established Mabuhay Gardens Day in San Francisco Oct 12, hopefully we will get the alley name change going to Dirk Dirksen Alley (A project that Kathy Peck started a year ago along with Andy Moraga, Lu Read, Sup Tom Amminao, Zack Fuller). Along with the support from people writing letters and attending the hearing which is to be held THURS NOV. 15 10 AM ROOM &035; 263 -CITY HALL- 1 Dr. Carlton B Goodlet Place, we hope that the name change goes through.
The last show was a benefit for Ness Aquino, it was a great show, I can't think of a better way to go out. A special thanks to Kathy Peck at the H.E.A.R. Foundation for all the hard work and to all the other people that put their blood sweat and tears into the benefit, thank you all!
It's ok, things happen for a reason. It is the spirit of what the Mab means to each of us that is most important.
Thank you for your abundance of love and support.
Cheers! Tambre

CHECK OUT THEIR BIO....THIS BAND IS A MUST SEE! OLD SCHOOL METAL WITH OLD SCHOOL PLAYERS, WERE CRUNCH AND MELODY COME TOGETHER....AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME THEY HAVE A COUPLE OF SURPRISES UP THEIR SLEEVE FOR THE SHOW!
WARNING SF
SAN FRANCISCO BASED METAL BAND SINCE 1982

Jon Torres - Guitar/Songwriter (also member of Heathen, Angel Witch, Ulysses Siren, Laaz Rockit, Repulsa, Slough Feg, Thunderhead to name a few)
Greg Noll - Guitar (also member of Villain, voted best power metal band by several publications since the 80's and still holds true to date, who packed the Mab in 1986, and Villain's album "Only Time Will Tell" sells for $400+ on ebay, today!)
Joe Jimenez - Bass (also member of Ulysses Siren, Mad At Sam, to name a few)
Terry Hamilton - Keys (original member recently returned to perform with WSF)
Will Carroll - Drums (also member of Scarecrow, Old Grand Dad, Ulysses Siren, to name a few)
WARNING SF played the Tidal Wave festival in San Francisco, the Headbangers Open Air Festival in Germany, and Headbangers Ballroom in Hamburg Germany in July 2007.
WARNING SF's song "The Noose", was voted the best metal song of the year 2002 by Rock Hard Magazine, Germany.
BIO
In the time when the slayers of the heavy metal dragon fought hard with the fury and fire of their instruments, there lived WARNING. This 80's Metal band WARNING formed in San Francisco in the year 1982.
WARNING, now known as WARNING S.F., has made this resurgence after Jon Torres an original member decided to re-record 7 of the old songs, and along with another original member, Brian Poole reformed the band in 2000 recruiting Bay Area musicians Aaron Jellum, Will Carroll, and Torre Carstensen to re-record the old songs that are in the true style of the early 80's metal movement with that Bay Area signature.
After almost 3 years of working diligently, it all came together. After the recording of the old tracks the band realized that it had become more than just a re-release of some old songs they had written (between 1979 - 1985). When the recordings where finished in 2002 and people began to hear the material a buzz was created around the world that eventually reached the labels. Several labels came forward with offers that were placed on the table and the band ultimately made a deal with Mausoleum Records out of Belgium for European distribution and Relentless Records for North and South America and Asia distribution.
The album "Aftermath" includes the 7 tracks that were re-recorded and also includes 3 bonus tracks recorded in 1985 with that old analog sound and the raw energy of WARNING as they were back in the day. WARNING S.F. who recorded the new album included veteran player Jon Torres, who has played in such bands as Thunderhead, Ulysses Siren, Laaz Rockit, Angel Witch, I4NI, Repulsa, and The Lord Weird Slough Feg and brought together other veterans to the new recording such as Aaron Jellum, guitar player for Laaz Rockit, who brought his signature lead guitar style to the recording. Will Carroll, drummer of Old Grandad, and The Cutthroats 9, who brought his thunderous precision drum style to the re-recording. Torre Carstensen, Lead Vocalist for My Victim, who brought his melodic and harmonic singing style and cryptic lyrical style to the recording. As well as Brian Poole, the original guitar player and keyboardist for WARNING who has moved over to the bass and keys and brought his strong song writing abilities along with his twisted harmonic interludes to the recording which includes the haunting and twisted piano piece to the song Aftermath. The album entitled "AFTERMATH", named after one of the tracks seemed right in the light of the history, the lyrics and the track titles of WARNING then and the WARNING S.F. now along with the events of the world today.
Tracks include an intro that was an intro to an old song called "Time To Die" which the band found to be too lame to re-record, "Road Death" which is one of the first songs Jon Torres ever wrote, "Aftermath" which is an epic doom tune written in the classic N.W.O.B.H.M style, "Thunderhead" another song written by Jon Torres in his early days of writing and started as with "Road Death" as an instrumental, "Sounds of Armageddon" which Brian Poole wrote as an epic tune about the possible end of the world, "Happy Dooms Day" yet another mega death metal tune which says welcome to the end hope you've enjoyed your stay my friend, "The Noose" more of a speed metal tune and last Warning song ever written before Jon disbanded the band in 1986, "Fall Apon Your Knees" a head bangin song written by Brian with the message of what goes around comes around (a prayer for the dying this prayers for you), "Not A Chance In Hell" a classic thrash tune that says you'll never live to tell, "Metal Maniac" about the metal maniacs that tear things up in front of the stage and death to posers.
The WARNING of the 80's recordings include again veterans Jon Torres and Brian Poole, along with vocalist Rob "The Hammer" Halverson famous in the 80's for tossing his microphone stand into the audience, bassist Terry Hamilton, and drummer Tany Fillari. WARNING has shared the stage with bands such as Metallica, Megadeth, Exodus, Blind Illusion, Anvil Chorus, Heathen, Mordred, Vicious Rumors, and more. Playing in such famous clubs as The Old Waldorf, Mabuhay Gardens (better known as "The Mab"), The Stone, and the Rock On Broadway, in San Francisco.
The WARNING SF that toured in 2007 are Torre Carstensen- Vocals (also member of My Victim..known as one of the most talented singers in the Bay Area), Jon Torres - Guitar/Songwriter (also member of Heathen, Angel Witch, Ulysses Siren, Laaz Rockit, Repulsa, Slough Feg, Thunderhead to name a few), Greg Noll - Guitar (also member of Villain, voted best power metal band by several publications since the 80's and still holds true to date, who packed the Mab in 1986, and Villain's album "Only Time Will Tell" sells for $400+ on ebay, today!), Joe Jimenez - Bass (also member of Ulysses Siren, Mad At Sam, to name a few), Terry Hamilton - Keys (original member recently returned to perform with WSF), Will Carroll - Drums (also member of Scarecrow, Old Grand Dad, Ulysses Siren, to name a few)
