Today, like many before has been quite the strange bumpy fucked up brain day. So many weird stupid questions and far too few answers that make sense. But then again it was productive. I have only maybe 20 hours of production work left at the very most of the new God Module EP that I think I am calling "ART". Don't hold me to it.
We are pondering working with a very amazing horror photographer for the cover of the EP. Still up in the air but I think if we do it will look awesome and that's important people tell me.
Last night I finished a new track called "A Minute To Midnight" that I am really happy with. Byron originally wrote the basis for what the lyrics of what this song turned into. Then I took his sweet luv song and turned it into one of the most perverted hot, psycho-sexual Halloween songs about fucking in the history of perverted hot, psycho-sexual Halloween songs about fucking. I don't really know the exact historical time line of that song type but I think some of you should enjoy it. And at the same time I just might have started another new genre of music:) ...see SPOOKY DANCE MUSIC.
Today I finished the mixing and my vocals on my cover of Gary Numans "Me, I Disconnect From You". I ended up layering a more melodic vocal take that I vocoded along with the more aggressive vocals I originally did. I was planning on covering a Placebo track (Passive Aggressive) for this EP but I ended up doing this song as a birthday present for one of my bestest friends Ashley and decided it was damn good. So now It will be on the EP. She is going to contribute vocally to the song too. Then it too will be finished.
The other 2 new songs on the EP are "ART" and "Skeptical". Both of them are really high on my list of fav God Mod tracks. They are both intensely personal in their meanings and words. "ART" is simply a musical version of myself and my thoughts over the last year or so. "Skeptical" is about some of my thoughts that are a bit to mine to explain in detail, very neatly hidden under some lovely "end of the world" metaphors. I'm really fond of these metaphors BTW. I look at it this way. I love to be scared but I am almost over-exposed to things that might scare a normal person, so I am drawn to write and think about things that I find intensely spooky (i.e the end times, demonic haunting's, possession, growing older and dying not knowing what is going to happen after this bullshit existence etc). I'm not afraid of things that are gritty and real and that I can fight off. Which is why I hate what Rob Zombie did to Micheal Myers... but that's another blog I think. OK I can't help myself... he is the FUCKING BOOGYMAN, not some stereotype, textbook serial killer with a fucked up family who killed animals when he was a kid. And he really is not some homeless guy like he seems to be in the new Zombie abomination that I have yet to see. OK moving back on to subject.
The EP will also have a remix of "Skeptical" by Project Pitchfork. This was a very big deal to me since I have been a fan of their stuff for a long time. I met Peter at Kinetik for the first time and was honored when he asked me to do a remix for his track and really damn happy when he agreed to do one for mine in return.
There are also 2 remixes of "ART" on the EP. One by Daniel / Aesthetic Perfection which is like a groovy robotic dance mix that I am quite fond of. And another by Ashbury Heights which is simply amazing. Anders took my fucked up song about going insane and turned it into this awesome happy synth pop track. The music reminds me of a song by the band State Machine I used to love from years ago called "Hologram". And the addition of the female vocals in the chorus are just cool.
Also on there is a much faster dance mix of "Spooky" that I did for the next Metropolis - Hot Topic comp that should be announced soon. Clinton Carney will be doing a System Syn mix of "A Minute To Midnight" when his crazy ass gets home from being on tour with Imperative Reaction in a couple weeks. And finally I am working on a instrumental track that should also be the new live intro for the upcoming God Module shows titled "The Magic In My Heart is DEAD" that should be on the EP as well.
So unless I missed anything it will be 10 tracks long.
I have discussed a February release date with Metropolis and what we are doing in Europe is still up in the air at this point. With no shows in Europe since WGT 3 years ago it might be time for a change no? We will see what the future holds.
But to end this very informative babble.. God Module is planning a huge US tour in February to support this EP and we will be bringing along System Syn as our hot opening bitches for the tour. We will begin booking dates very soon so if your interested contact sam @ bpmtalent.com who will be booking the tour.
Until next time fiends.
