 Going in the studio and tracking your music is of course one of the most necessary requirements of a band, and what ultimately tells the world you are legit. It puts your music on permanent record, can be sold to your fans, shared between friends, & hopefully winds up in the right hands! Its finding people who like your style of music, getting them to buy it, and making sure your promoting is working, that's the hard part. There are many options that are great for exposing your music and teasing people into wanting more. Once you get something in someones hands, you want to make sure it is most effective, and brings them to your show. After they arrive, then you show them what you're made of and hopefully convince them to purchase your merchandise, tell their friends all about you, and come back to another performance! Adding a light show, custom props, stage outfits, banners, etc., can add maximum effect to the performance too.... There are many alternatives once you get them to the venue!
The key is always building more fans, and attracting new people through "creative marketing". If you run your band like a business, you will find positive results much quicker than what you have previously experienced. You can be assured the clubs and veues you play in are running their place AS a business, because they have no choice. They have food purchases, payrolls, business licenses, alcohol permits, taxes, utilities, and much more. As a band, you dont have near that responsibility, and it makes it a lot easier to operate on a business level without it getting too complicated.
In building more fans, you're probably going to get a better response and/or use, out of a 1 song music video to attract new fans, in my opinion.... You can also use it for press kits to get a club interested, post it on myspace video or
YouTube.com, & band sites like SyncLive.com / Reverb Nation / MaxMouth.com to personalize yourself with the public. How many times have you received a sampler from a band, listened to it once maybe twice, and somehow got it lost in the mix? You may or may not remember them, or you get them mixed up with another band or whatever the case. Let's say a band hands someone a DVD 1 song music video- The same thing may happen- But it gives them the audio along with a visual to capture their FULL attention. They can listen to a CD and be distracted by their surroundings, but if there is video, they pretty much have to stand still and watch. Now granted, there is still an opportunity for them to lose that as well and maybe never watch it again, but in the long run, you did several things a CD can't do:
*Made yourself look more like a professional band (all nationals have music videos)
*Branded your name/logo at the beginning & end of video
*Given prospects a personal look at YOU as a band
*Allowed them a peek at what they might see at your live performance
*Stood out above the rest, because how many local level bands have pro music videos?
*Added contact info in the credits that can be paused and writtten down
If you have a compatible laptop or PC, you can upload the video to your memory, and burn a DVD right there on the spot. A slide show can be added to the end of it, with promo shots or live shots (which we also offer), and allow you to showcase still shots of each member. A little Photoshop and you can put each members name on their photo.
 You ALWAYS want people curious to see something they didnt see before. Lets say a crowd is chanting for an encore at the end of a set. I've seen the "business smart" bands thank them for their support and invite them to the next show.... Because the audience wanted more, and they didn't give it to them, they are most likely to return to next performance- along with some friends. Just like if they see ONE song on video, then that is enough to wet their curiosity and decide whether they want more or not!
As far as video goes, I think it's a worthwhile marketing tool for a band to offer exposure in a different manner, and make themselves stand out. If we honestly thought it wouldn't help bands out, it wouldn't be on our list of offerings. We didnt start out with camera recording, but after we had our own promo video made, I realized what a professional impact it made for SHOCK & AWE! I later decided to add that to our list of services, help offer bands more attention to themselves, and only use pure professionals who love what they do and offer the highest quality finished product. We only have the best people with the best gear!

"CALLING ALL VOICES FOR MOTHER EARTH" On Nov. 21, 2009 SHOCK & AWE assisted with a part of history at TREE Sound Studios in Norcross, Ga.! A proclamation from Governor Sonny Perdue was handed down in commemoration of the song "(Calling All Voices) For Mother Earth", to be dedicated to the Ga. Music Hall Of Fame. It celebrated the efforts of over 100 musicians/vocalists, many others behind the scenes, and sponsors who worked together to make it all happen. The recording had mulitple guest tracks and voice overs, along with a 90 person choir to sing the chorus. Snacks & finger foods were donated by "RockStar Farms" and it's affiliates, beverages proivded by SweetWater & Terrapin Breweries, recording done by TREE staff, and most exterior lighting was designed and set up by SHOCK & AWE Productions. LIGHT SHOWS AT THE LOCAL IN MARIETTA, GA.:We have an introductory rate for special effect light shows held at THE LOCAL in Marietta only. Please contact us for details. These shows will include a minimum of 6 moving heads, color spots, LED front washes, effects, some custom props, in conjunction with lighting already there. This is scaled down from outside shows, but still stands out from the other bands and standard lighting there. Anytime we are at THE LOCAL, photos will be taken of all bands, at no charge, unless Susie is contracted for another shoot. PHOTO AND LIVE SHOOTS:Sassy Photography is our official and only photographer for SHOCK & AWE. Susie is a professional freelance photographer with several accredited works online and in hard copy publications. She is one of the best concert photographers in the US, and can capture those hard to get "money shots" that are so sought after. She can shoot for your publication also. You must line up all passes and entry.

I am very excited to say that my Rock photos are featured in the Spring edition of SIR Magazine. If you have not found the latest issue yet, we are dropping off limited copies at THE LOCAL, SIDELINES Marietta, UPTOWN LOFT, and 37 MAIN this week. We will also have some on hand at the shows we work, but cannot "hold back" any copies. This weekend we'll be at THE LOCAL on friday night and WILD BILL'S This Saturday the 18th. Look for us!
The magazine will be featuring photos from the shows I photograph each quarter. The pics I select to post will be based solely on my favorite poses and shots from various shows, and not for any other reason. I love all the bands that I work with and will not favor them, but instead hope to showcase as many of you as I can. The band names will always be associated with the photos, but currently there is no room for contact info.

I photograph all shows CoolKeith is working, however, I can come specifically to yours, to photograph your live performance shots. Hit me up on this page or the SASSY PHOTOGRAPHY profile, and we can put you on the schedule. This will include: Professional photos with pro model cameras, band photo before or after your performance (your choice), shots with different lenses for effects, multiple angles, full bandwidth images without logo, and quick turnaround time! One of the photos could also be chosen for the next issue of S.I.R.
